The smell of pernod :S I once drank a litre of pernod in a weekend. I was not at all well, as far as I can remember.
Ohhh yeah  indeed. Aniseed-flavoured alcoholic drink? Whyyyy? Whose idea was that?
Actually, same applies to all drinks of a similar ilk … dangerous and best avoided. Ouzo, for one, and a number of years ago I also once had a … errr … lost weekend after drinking too much Turkish grape-spirit, after which I apparently spent some 36 hours lumbering around Istanbul trying to find where I was staying. By the time I finally found my hotel, I was missing one of my shoes and, curiously, a single tee-shirt sleeve. Not to mention several million brain cells. And the hangover, I’ve had NOTHING worse, before or since …

That sounds remarkably Welsh. But then I only had a few Welsh language lessons. When I was six. Thirty years ago. And I HAVE drunk far too much etihw gninthgil during the intervening period. Mostly in a graveyard. Cider doesn’t have give me severe nausea now, but ohhhh GOD does the smell of red martini do that …
Hmmmm … maybe I shouldn’t post this message, it’s rubbish … ooops, DAMN!

What other boards are you members of? in Chit-Chat
Title: What other boards are you members of?
I like this board, it’s one of the best I’ve visited thus far … good subject matter, good banter … above all in good spirit too. What you’re looking for in a board, really, natch.
Previous experiences of some message boards have not always been all that postive, though.
It’d be bad form to name names, I’m sure ;) … but I’ve found some boards to be incredibly cliquey, and some of the members (especially long-term) astonishingly proprietorial - issuing condescending or smug responses to contributions by anyone new, and putting rather too much effort into one-upmanship and coming across in their postings as “We’re wayyy too cool for you” (No you’re not! You’re boring twats! ) rather than encouraging interesting discussion (perish the thought!) or having a shared laff that isn’t exclusive to the “chosen few” …
All of this (quite apart from being downright irritiating … GROW UP!!!) is completely object-defeating!
Oooh. This is a cranky message, innit? Baaaad day at work. Sorry ;) To put a more positive spin on it, what boards are GOOD, and worth a visit? :)

Hey! in New Members (Introduce Yourself)
Title: Hey!
Hey, only just noticed this thread after having posted elsewhere. Bit slow, me. Must be me age. Or a very enduring hangover.
Anyway. Already used the following tale of woe elsewhere on the board, but it just seemed such an appropriate way to introduce myself …
I first heard T? through buying “Pleasure Death” on a whim (well, actually, it had quite a lot to do with the cover … ;) ) just after it came out, as part of a record buying spree on my 22nd birthday. Definitely one of my better whim buys, and I’ve been a beeg beeg fan ever since, that’s for sure!
I still have the LP, but not quite in its original format - an ex-girlfriend of mine melted it under the grill, by way of a … um … leaving present  Such heathen behaviour (albeit imaginatively vindictive) and just what you’d expect of someone who liked Phil Collins, and musicals including “Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat” We clearly weren’t suited ;) Anyway, the outside edges of the record all curled up and it now makes a rather natty, if over-large vinyl-ashtray. I also love the dark irony of having an ashtray called “Pleasure Death” …
Here’s hoping you’ll put up with my postings, provided I don’t warble on too often about my often hapless existence ;)
