Re: Fyfe to record with Ginger in Other Bands & Artists

It seems the whole thing will be released in May.

If you’ve not “pledged” money yet, then the 3CD version (with all of cd 1 being Fyfe) is gone, although you can still get the download version.
A single cd of the best songs from the 3 cds will be commercially released in May, so will only have a few of Fyfe’s tracks.

Ginger’s calling the 3cd version “555%” (555% being the amount of pledges received and the cut-off point for its availability) and the single cd version “100%”.

You’re right Cactus, maybe it’s for the best that Andy doesn’t embrace social media! At the same time though, I think it’s one thing to have a gripe with one person who’s done something in particular to piss you off, and a different thing to have an issue with the entire crowd who have showed up and paid to watch you on a Tuesday night.

That twitter stuff makes for interesting reading. Cant believe he threatened to kill himself. Seems like he’s totally lost it.

Re: Ginger gig in Bristol in Other Bands & Artists

I guess we truly are spoiled when it comes to Therapy? - I’ve never once seen, or heard of, a gig where they threw a strop due to perceived lack of interest.

I’m guessing most of Ginger’s fanbase are in their 30’s and 40’s? What does he expect on a Tuesday night, in all fairness? And then when someone actually follows his heed and tries to outwardly enjoy himself, Ginger throws a wobbly? Not good. I think that sort of behaviour exposes one’s unhappiness with life.

It seems Fyfe is quite the photgrapher as well, he took all the following shots here:

Re: Black Sabbath - Download 2012 in Other Bands & Artists

I can see this being a total flop. Ozzy is so far gone, it’s ridiculous to think he’ll be able to hold it together long enough to make it work and surely Bill Ward’s ticket’s nearly up as well? He can’t be in any state to play one gig, let alone a tour.

Re: Fyfe to record with Ginger in Other Bands & Artists

Fyfe previously advertised (a few years ago) his talents on Musolist as “original Therapy? drummer” - didn’t sound too scared of his legacy then! ;)

Re: Kyuss or Queens Of The Stone Age in Other Bands & Artists

The Dublin was limited to 8, yes 8, per transaction!! All the ‘scalpers’ buy 8 each and sell them for 3 or 4 times their price.

Also, that “type the following letters” thing doesn’t help the average person. The scalpers buy so many tickets every day, that they can read those fucked up letters easier and quicker than someone who doesn’t buy tickets everyday. So even if you get in quick enough, by the time it takes to read and type those letters without making a mistake, the scalper has jumped ahead of you in the queue. Totally fucked up situation.

They really should go back to selling physical tickets from retail outlets. That way the real fan can queue outside the store all night… something the average scalper will not do.

Tickets for QOTSA in Dublin went on sale at 9.00 this morning. At exactly 9.00 (ie. instantly) there was none left. What a farce!

Re: Soundgarden Reunite in Other Bands & Artists

Hook Chris up with Timbaland again, maybe? :-D

Some glaring ommisions from Telephantasm: Ugly Truth, Beyond The Wheel (live), Searching With my Good Eye Closed, Mailman, Zero Chance. Well, maybe not glaring, but I’d have loved to seen them there!!

Re: Soundgarden Reunite in Other Bands & Artists

Got it yesterday.

I don’t understand why they’ve included the live tracks on the set. The ‘Louder Than Live’ set always sounded distant and shitty, like a bootleg, so “Get on the Snake” sounds really lost on Telephantasm. While the live version of “Jesus Christ Pose” sounds much better, it just doesn’t compare with the album version. The worst though has to be “Pretty Noose”. The live version from SNL has always been mocked as one of the bands’ worst performances ever; Cornell woefully out of tune and the band sounding disjointed. So, for them to include it here is absolutely astounding. The album versions of that and “Burden in my hand” should’ve been included, no question.

The saving grace for this set is the very good BBC version of “Flower”, while not perfect, is still better than the ‘Ultramega OK’ version. And also, the unreleased “Black Rain”; which is rather great!

Speaking of ‘Ultramega OK’, why did they choose the drab album version of “Beyond The Wheel” instead of the amazing live version that appeared on one of their singles (the same one that gave the live version of ‘JCP’)? Would’ve made much more sense.

Haven’t watched the DVD yet, so can’t comment.

Re: Black Sabbath in Other Bands & Artists

I see the Sabbath albums are getting the “deluxe 2cd edition” treatment. Looks like they’re coming out slowly over a period of time, anyone got any of these yet?

Even Seventh Star and The Eternal Idol are getting the go-ahead:

Spirit of Radio, Temples of Syrinx, Working Man, Bastille Day etc… good stuff!
I got the thing on ebay for under a tenner, ya can’t go wrong.

I’ve been sorta collecting the best-ofs by bands that I’ve always known about but wouldn’t know where to start with - Rush, Motorhead, Gallagher, Lizzy etc… makes for interesting listening! :-)

Ain’t that the truth! I remember in the 90’s, one of my fathers’ friends giving me a live Rush video from the 80’s and I could only manage about 30 seconds before succumbing to the horror that was the padded sports jacket and perm!

“I’ll never listen to those dinosaurs for as long as I live”… how times change! At least they look non-laughable these days.

RUSH - Gold

Got it about 2 weeks ago. It’s a 2 disc best-of, though haven’t even put on the 2nd disc yet - the first one is that good!
I’m starting to see where Neil Cooper is coming from :-)

Re: Guns N Roses in Other Bands & Artists

They were boring when I saw them after T? at Download in 2006, so I imagine they’re even worse now. To be honest, who wants to see guitar and keyboard solos from a bunch of unknowns? Even if Slash came back, I still wouldn’t want to listen to a guitar solo… just play some fucking songs, lads!!
