Re: (sic) in Other Bands & Artists

Saw them supporting T? in Cork in ‘98, but don’t know their stuff.

Maybe Ricky Warwick is better off back in The Almighty?

Me too

Shit, that wasn’t a “me too” to “who likes Oasis?”

It was a “me too” to “I’ll pass”

i.e. I don’t like them.

Re: what other bands/music do you listen to? in Other Bands & Artists

He mentioned it during an interview on a video I have from the London Astoria.

He was talking about bands whose “time will come” because they stick to playing the music they believe in, and not pandering to what music is popular at the time.

Nurse With Wound was one of the bands he mentioned.

Re: what other bands/music do you listen to? in Other Bands & Artists

I remember Andy was a big fan of “Nurse With Wound” circa 92/93

Hey man, what ever happened to that demo you promised me? :D

For the Pet Lamb album I sent you?

It was you wasn’t it?

Re: what other bands/music do you listen to? in Other Bands & Artists

Bloody hell, I left out Deftones too! :(

You’d think the fact that he stage-dived on top of me at a gig in Dublin, would help me remember his band!

Therapy?, Audioslave, System Of A Down, Faith No More, Pet Lamb, Kerbdog, Wilt, Turn, Whipping Boy, Soundgarden, Metallica, NOFX, Queens Of The Stone Age, Foo Fighters, Helmet, AC/DC, Nirvana, Machine Head, Muse, Smashing Pumpkins, etc..

Re: Steve-O in Other Bands & Artists

What’s much better than Jackass is Dirty Sanchez; basically the Scottish version of Jackass but a lot sicker!

Re: NIRVANA overrated?! in Other Bands & Artists

trigger wrote:

nirvana released the most classic album of the 90’s and changed the music scene forever

Again it’s all about opinions - in my opinion, ‘Superunknown’ by Soundgarden was the best album of the 90’s. I’ve always liked Nirvana, but if I listen to them too much I tend to lose interest. Yet, I never tire of listening to Soundgarden.

The mainstream picked up Nirvana a lot more though, so Soundgarden tended to be forgotten. People don’t seem to remember either that Soundgarden released albums well before Nirvana, Pearl Jam etc…

Nirvana over-rated? Maybe.

Soundgarden under-rated? Definately

That’s my two cents anyway.

Re: Metallica on tour!!! in Other Bands & Artists

Got my ticket for Metallica in Dublin!

Also playing are Linkin Park (shite), and hopefully The Deftones, although this is unconfirmed.

And going on sale next week are tickets to another huge gig in Ireland - Chilli Peppers, Foo Fighters & Queens!

Over 60 Euros each, better be worth it…

Re: TURN Waterford in Other Bands & Artists

DISASTER!!!!

I’ve just found out that TURN’s new bassist is from ex of Skindive.

His name is Alan Lee.

I am gonna get some slagging cos of this. All I need now is Alan Lee from Rotherham United to break into the Ireland soccer team. Then the circle of embarassment would be complete.

Re: AudioSlave in Other Bands & Artists

Here’s a link to the full performance from David Letterman the other night;

http://users.rcn.com/jcalamita/aud2/media.htm

Chris’ voice sounds a little fucked but that’s probably from the cold weather (the thing is outside!), and the fact the band didn’t have a warm-up for, what is, a very tough vocal-driven song.

Re: AudioSlave in Other Bands & Artists

Yeah, great album - I got it on Friday and have listening to it non-stop. I saw their TV debut on David Letterman’s show the other night and that was cool too.

I think it sounds a cross between RATM (obviously!) and Chris’ solo album “Euphoria Morning” - I can’t really see much of Soundgarden in there.

A lot of people on their message board seem to hate the single “Cochise”, but I think it’s cool. A lot of those people though are RATM fanatics who hate Chris Cornell. My favourite track is “What You Want”.

Re: favourite band from your country? in Other Bands & Artists

There’s an Irish band called ‘TURN’ whop are pretty fucking good.

I’d recommend their mini-albums “Check My Ears”, “Another Year Over” and “In Position”, as well as their album “Antisocial”.

They kinda sound like a heavier Jeff Buckley.

Re: Terrorvision in Other Bands & Artists

I usually get a number 2, which is pretty tight.

Although, I’m kinda growing it a bit longer so I haven’t had a haircut in about 3 months.

Re: TURN Waterford in Other Bands & Artists

Yeah, it’s true, Gavin’s leaving. His last gig will be New Years Eve at the TBMC in Dublin.

TURN won’t be splitting up though, as they have an album called “Forward” coming out in February.

Re: Frank Black in Other Bands & Artists

Eh no.

That would be Frank Black of the Pixies.

Re: TURN Waterford in Other Bands & Artists

Cool man, sounds great. All I can offer is that Witnness gig, not much I know (it is on CD though).

I do have loadsa Therapy? stuff, if that tickles your fancy!

Re: TURN Waterford in Other Bands & Artists

I go on that site everyday. And it’s only when you mentioned names that I thought “is there a message board there?” - low and behold, there IS one! How fuckin thick am I? How long has it been there?

Don’t suppose you’ve any of those acoustic tracks that Ollie’s always playing on FM104 or Phantom, do you? It pisses me off that I know nobody in Dublin who could tape them for me.

I’ve all their releases (including all the vinyls) but I’d love to get some bootlegs or those radio things. Only seen them the once, that was supporting Wilt before the Check Your Ears EP came out. I remember Muse were supposed to play but pulled out. Turn became scapegoats cos they were the replacements. I thought they were cool though.

Re: TURN Waterford in Other Bands & Artists

Yeah, Turn are class. The ‘mightily over-rated’ Frames should be supporting them, not the other way round.

Also, Turn are supporting the God-awful Aslan at the Point. Just goes to show how shit the Irish music industry is when a band as crap as Aslan can get away with playing in the Point. Only in Dublin would that shit happen. They played a small pub in Clonmel (my town) lately, and I wasn’t arsed to go to it. A pub to the Point? What’s going on… What’s wrong with Dublin people? “Christy Dignam is God, boy” etc…

Another travesty is the fact that Turn are supporting them. Surely they didn’t have to? By the way, did you catch their Witnness gig on 2FM last week? Deadly buzz…

Re: Support Bands in Other Bands & Artists

I missed Clutch at that Olympia gig, dammit. I’d guess you’re talking about Defenestration (or something) at the Mandella Hall? Metal band with a bird on vocals? They played at the Ambassador a few nights after it, and they were shocking! I didn’t want to give them hugs though… a kick in the snatch more like it.

Re: Support Bands in Other Bands & Artists

Most bands I’ve seen supporting Therapy? have been shit, in my opinion, with one glaring exception:

Pet Lamb supporting at the Dublin fan club show in April 1996. They were amazing and actually blew a circuit in one of Therapy?s speakers cos they were just so pummellingly (is that even a word?!) loud!

I went out and got their album after that and I’ve been a major fan since. Best Therapy? performance I’ve seen too, by the way. Probably cos the venue was tiny and it was packed with about 80 people there.

All in all, the best gig I’ve ever been to.

Re: Now Playing… #2 in Other Bands & Artists

QOTSA - Songs for the Deaf
Foo Fighters - One by One

Turn - compilation
Pet Lamb - compilation
SOAD - Toxicity

Re: Pet Lamb - High Anxiety Artwork - Help needed! in Other Bands & Artists

Ha ha, just discovered that there IS a colour printer at work so I shall use that.

I also noticed that there is no size re-adjusting of the artwork file necessary so I can just print it out and it’ll fit perfectly in the cd case. Sweet.

Re: I’m gonna see the band of which I bought my first ever album! in Other Bands & Artists

I’m still well proud of my first record;

AC/DC - Powerage

A rock classic which I still listen to.
