Hello, new person with identity crisis! :D
Can’t pretend to know anything about American sports, but is the Stanley Cup an Ice Hockey thing?
Oh wait, is it golf?
I stupid… :(

Pet Lamb? Oh yes, great band that got fucked over.
One of my favourite bands ever, ‘Sweaty Handshake’ & ‘High Anxiety’ (the PL album, not T?) are excellent albums.
Kerbdog were class back in the day too. Looks like Wilt have split up though, since Battle’s got a permanent presenting job on 2FM starting at the end of the month.

sorry to be picky but Father Ted is Channel 4
Yes, another glorious fuck-up for Irish television!
Our national broadcaster - RTE - were offered “Father Ted” first but deemed it too blasphemous for us unsuspecting Irish sinners, so Channel 4 got it instead.
A year later, RTE finally bought repeats of the show due to huge demand from the public… they still haven’t lived it down.
It could have been the best Irish programme ever, but instead gets lumped in with British comedy.

Now you mention it, the name does ring a bit of a bell, although the songs you mention don’t. Any good IYHO?
Well, their sound isn’t as heavy as Kerbdog’s - they kinda sound more like the Foo Fighters/Husker Du.
Actually, their website, http://www.wilt.ie , has their new album on rotation. So you can hear a few tunes there, if you’re inclined!
There’s also a thread about Therapy? in the Forum section - I’m there as “fyfe ewing” …

Wilt? That doesn’t really sound encouraging.
They’ve had a few UK radio hits in the last couple of years, I’m surprised you haven’t heard of them.
The songs that come to mind are ‘No Worries’, ‘Radio Disco’, & ‘Take Me Home’…ever heard ‘em?

Such abuse of an excellent band! :(
Still one of my favourite bands. By the way, they’re now called Wilt.

Re: How goes? fellow T?’s in New Members (Introduce Yourself)
Welcom shellac, nice to see more and more T? fans from North America :)
Did you see them on their Canadian tour in ‘96? Which gigs?
Another question, as I guess you’re a Steve Albini fan… which do you prefer:
Shellac, Big Black or Rapeman?

Re: Hi in New Members (Introduce Yourself)
Welcome to the boards, man!
Yeah it’s a cool board - virtually no abuse flying around, which seems to be a neccesity on other bands boards.

Re: a new way of saying hello in New Members (Introduce Yourself)
How’s the form, Distorted? - nice to have another Paddy here!
As for the site, it (the new version) was launched on April 1st. But this message board has been going since 2000 on teethgrinder.com.
Rene, who runs the unofficial teethgrinder.com, is noW in charge of the official site as well!
That’s the short version of what’s been going on.

Re: okay i’m new here… in New Members (Introduce Yourself)
Yeah, that’s cool - never heard of anyone thinking “Semi-Detached” has a cool cover though! :-)
Good album, shite cover.
Though, I remember being well impressed looking at the contents of the bin on the Troublegum sleeve - just how big IS that condom??? :D
My fav’s would be Babyteeth and Suicide-Pact - the dark foreboding stuff. But I like Infernal Love too, that album has a special place in my affections!

Re: Howdy! in New Members (Introduce Yourself)
If anyone has the video recording of the Red Box, Dublin 1997, you can see me down the front going mad (at the start of “Stories” especially).
But, that was 6 years ago, and I’ve kinda changed - I’d hope so, ‘cos I was a spotty longhair back then!
:D

You get abuse, unless you tell us your Therapy? story! :)
How did you get into them, basically. That’s the “Rites Of Newbie” on this board - you gotta tell us your story.
:D

Re: Warm Greetings in New Members (Introduce Yourself)
Hiya Jester,
Welcome to the nuthouse…
Normally of newbies we ask of your T? history:
How did you get into them? Been to any gigs? etc…
And in your case, why don’t more Americans like Therapy? ?
Godamnit!!!

Hello and welcome!
That quote above is spot on - Therapy? make music they like making without feeling the need to stick to specific genre’s.
So far they’ve been called indie, metal, industrial, pop, punk, goth, britpop, techno blah blah blah…
Punk/metal crossover is maybe the best I’ve heard but still doesn’t come close - long may Therapy? stretch the boundaries of what they’re doing.

Re: Yo. in New Members (Introduce Yourself)
Well, the summer Infernal Love came out was great for me.
I had my first part-time job so I had money, the weather was sweltering, I had my first you-know-what, and Infernal Love came out.
Whenever I hear Misery & Bad Mother in particular, I instantly think back to that summer. I know the visual imagery of maggots down one’s throat is unappealing, but the whole vibe of the album is kinda special to me.
Or does that sound gay? :-)
Smiley is fine! :-)

Re: Yo. in New Members (Introduce Yourself)
Hello.
I wouldn’t worry about not fitting in, most people here have hugely varying tastes in music.
That’s probably ‘cos, like you said, Therapy’s sound is always changing and it’s very hard to define a genre for them.
My favourite album ain’t Troublegum either, it’s probably Babyteeth or Suicide Pact. Although Infernal Love gives me a great feeling when I listen to it!
After all that, welcome!
