Re: suggestions in Chit-Chat
1. Fyfe Ewing talked a lot of shite, almost as much as McKeegan does. Do you take everything the band says at face value? Is every single thing the band says believable? No chance, mate. I’ve seen and heard countless interviews with them, and for the most part it’s bullshit nad sarcasm. I thought everyone thought the same?
2. I brought up Adrenaline cos it’s a Deftones album and you were talking about the Deftones. You compared the Spineshank album to ‘Around the Fur’ like most people would compare a band with Therapy? -era Troublegum, i.e. suggesting that Troublegum defines Therapy?. In the same way, I took your post to mean you considered Around the Fur to define Deftones. If I’m wrong, I apologise - I’m not having a go at ya. I prefer the White Pony to Around the Fur actually, but my favourite is Adrenaline.
3. Concerning ‘Innocent X’ - I’m not bullshiting…it is an actual painting. I just can’t remember where the fuck I saw it (it was years ago) but I remember looking at it and thinking ‘cool, that’s where they got the name from!’. Early Therapy? was really influenced by every from of culture, media, art etc… that’s what made Babyteeth so fucking special to me when I heard it.
Rant over.

Re: suggestions in Chit-Chat
Innocent with an ‘x’ thru it? Don’t know what you’re talking about, man! Assuming you got your name from Therapy?s track, then you’re actually calling yourself a painting, ‘cos Therapy? named that song after a painting called ‘The Innocent X’. It dipicted childhood innocence lost due to medieval warfare and religious persecution. I saw the painting a few years ago and I remembered it although, unfortunately, not the painters name.
By the way, the Adrenaline album by Deftones beats the other two. Have only heard a little of Spineshank, but they sound like all the rest, in my opinion.

Re: Best records of the year ? in Chit-Chat
The only albums I bought released this year are Shameless and Origin of Symetry (Muse). Although I did get Queens of the Stone Age’s first album, which is pretty good!
Everyone - buy ‘Sweaty Handshake’ by PET LAMB. ‘Cos it’s good. Very good.

Re: IRAN in Chit-Chat
…like when France beat you 2-1 at will in the Euro 2000 final?
France were just teasing you, that’s why they left their equaliser until the last minute. Sylvan Wiltord?? That useless bastard!!!
As for the World Cup, I fancy Argentina to beat France in the final. Ireland will make the second round, I hope.

Re: Sports? in Chit-Chat
Football, watching mainly. I follow my national team (Ireland) intently. Club-wise, I follow Liverpool.
Sunday, 4th November
Liverpool 3 Man. Utd 1 (or ‘scum’ - whatever you prefer)
… what a day!

Re: sad people! in Chit-Chat
For Brendon, we call cigarettes ‘fags’ around this side of the world.
‘Make his fag’ does indeed sound a little strange - sounds like he was dominating a homosexual. Or something. (Imagine doing that on stage at a Therapy? show!?) I bet Martin would enjoy it though!

Re: IRAN in Chit-Chat
Ali Dai (Iran frontman) has even shaved his world famous cock-sucking moustache for the occasion!! I hope Roy Keane is fit enough to play, we might not need him for the Dublin game but in Tahrain, he’ll be a huge loss if he doesn’t play. Predictions;
Ireland 2 Iran 0
Iran 1 Ireland 1
Roll on next summer in Korea/Japan. Is there anyone (from any country)planning to go?

Re: the ideal crash in Chit-Chat
..and I think people in N. Ireland and England wouldn’t agree with you about knowing nothing about terrorism, if you think about it.

Re: the ideal crash in Chit-Chat
The difference between Hiroshima and recent events, is that the Japanese government instigated war on the US. In this case, terrorists have acted and their nation has condemned their actions. True, there may be more to it than that, but at the moment, Afghanistan has denied responsibility and until the US proves that; firstly, bin Laden was behind it and secondly, he had the backing of his government, the US cannot just wipe out their country. That would be a bigger crime than anything that happened in New York. But like I said, there’s more to it and if it is all proven that Afghanistan is to blame, by all means wage war on them. I’m sure all Europeans will back the US, just like NATO has.

Re: the ideal crash in Chit-Chat
In Ireland on Friday, there will be a national mourning day for the people who died on Tuesday. This means all business’ will stay shut all day. What is strange about this however, is that there wasn’t a mourning day for the 29 Irish people who died in Omagh in 98 at the hands of IRA terrorism. I know there is far, far more dead in NY, but the Omagh bombing was the worst atrocity in our nations history, and should have been remembered in the same way. I guess, once again, we believe that everyone else is more important than us. It’s a pity.

Re: the ideal crash in Chit-Chat
Exactly right Brendon, I felt sick everytime I used see the American government’s involvement in N. Ireland, not because of the Americans, but because of our own (Ireland & Britain) failure to solve the problem. To be fair, every democratic country sees the US as ‘big brother’ and yesterday, the US paid the price. Those ignorant cunts celebrating in Afghanistan should be destroyed, anyone who endorses that form of terrorism, or any form of terrorism, doesn’t deserve to live in the same world as us.
By the way, what country do you live in, turnandface? If the Arabs invaded your country, you’d be first begging the US for help. You’re a hypocrite. In the past, I always thought that the US were too interfering, but then I thought about the consequences of US inaction.
Would we be speaking German now??? Arabic perhaps (if Saddam had his way)??? Sometimes I think us Europeans don’t know how lucky we are to have an ally like America.
Just go and think about it some more, turnandface.

Re: northern ireland in Chit-Chat
That’s all I’ve ever known to be on the news - fucking Northern Ireland. It never stops. When the Peace Agreemant was signed, the whole country was celebrating but it was a fucking joke - it’ll never stop. I know there are some cool people from the North (Therapy? for example, and some of the people on this board) but a lot of the Northern Irish are absolute wankers, and personally I’m sick of hearing about them. All the talk and still no peace. There will never be peace there, it’s unfortunate.

Re: IRELAND 1-0 HOLLAND in Chit-Chat
Roy Keane has to be the best midfielder in the world. Not the most skillful, but he’s like a one-man team. His graft is un-natural. Bring on the Arabs!

Re: FOOTBALL! in Chit-Chat
Who can believe Ireland have knocked out the Dutch? What a fantastic result! Thanks to Michael (and the other Dutch lads here) for the congratulations. It looks like we’ll finish second behind Portugal though, and we’ll be playing a pile of muppet Arabs in the play-off.
We’ve lost the last three play-offs (Turkey, Belgium & Holland) but I’ve a good feeling this time. Another tournament without Ireland would be a disaster, especially after beating Holland. Oh, well done to England too.

Re: i need some help,to help myself in Chit-Chat
I have the Smiths tribute album, well, the Japanese version of it. I always try and get the actual release ‘cos I hate mp3’s. I actually have the original version of ‘Vicar in a Tutu’ by the Smiths on the b-side of some 7” - it’s pretty cool, too.

Best album of the 80’s? Iron Maiden - Piece of Mind, although AC/DC - Back in Black is rockin’ too.

I just passed my first year in College (Engineering) although something tells me that the lecturer’s gave me a sympathy vote! I got a D in one of the subjects and I just know that I failed it. Anyways, on to second year!

Re: FOOTBALL! in Chit-Chat
I have to admit though, Holland play way better football than us and I bet every neutral football fan would prefer to see Holland than Ireland - it is a shame that both countries won’t be there ‘cos I love watching Holland play, but I still think Ireland will get though.

Re: FOOTBALL! in Chit-Chat
Michael, Holland will find it next to impossible to win in Dublin - we have a great record there! But, we should definately have won in Amsterdam - 2-0 up with only 20 minutes to go? We really fucked that up and Holland got a 2-2 draw. I admit we were lucky to get a 1-1 draw with Portugal in Dublin, they played much better than us. I can see another draw with Holland though, and that means bye bye Holland!
We’ll end up in another fuckin play-off though. God, I hate them - beaten in the last three play-offs (Holland, Belgium(!), Turkey(!!!)
I hope we finish best runner-up, in that case we’ll play some shite team from Asia, like China or somebody. I don’t care how we get there really, so long as we do - we really need something to cheer us up!!

FOOTBALL! in Chit-Chat
Title: FOOTBALL!
I’ve taken Deekoi’s suggestion and read through the old posts, and there’s some crazy shit there! I like the football talk though.
Who thinks Ireland will have enough to knock Holland out of the World Cup? All we have to do is avoid defeat in Dublin in September. God, I hope to fuck we do it, it’s been a long time since we qualified for anything - USA 94, to be exact. Go on Keaners!!!

Saw JJ72 at Witnness last year but didn’t like them much although they do have a couple of great songs to be fair. What does everyone think of Wilt (ex-Kerbdog chaps)?

He’s a DJ for some English radio station (Phantom?) but also roadied with Therapy? a lot and worked on their T-Shirt stall but was more a touring companion I guess!

Re: Fuck Pearl Jam in Chit-Chat
Smashing Pumpkins played a VERY low key gig in Dublin a few
years back after that girl was killed. I think it was in
Vicar Street which is a tiny venue for them, so fair play to
them for having the guts to come back here and play after a
tragedy like that.
