Re: Sports? in Chit-Chat

Football, watching mainly. I follow my national team (Ireland) intently. Club-wise, I follow Liverpool.

Sunday, 4th November
Liverpool 3 Man. Utd 1 (or ‘scum’ - whatever you prefer)
… what a day!

Re: GET READY FOR… THERAPY? WEEK ! ! ! in General Therapy? Topics

I already had a week in therapy - my head is still wrecked!
No seriously, good idea - I actually don’t have the normal UK version of Infernal Love anymore…I have every other version released under the sun (Japanese promo, UK non-mix promo, red vinyl etc…) but not the UK CD. Well, I bought it the week it came out in June 95 but a friend lost it on me last year.
One last thing, items bought on ebay probably don’t increase Therapy’s album sales as most items are promos or second hand.
So, I guess we’ll have to buy them in the stores? Too expensive, man!

Re: sad people! in Chit-Chat

For Brendon, we call cigarettes ‘fags’ around this side of the world.
‘Make his fag’ does indeed sound a little strange - sounds like he was dominating a homosexual. Or something. (Imagine doing that on stage at a Therapy? show!?) I bet Martin would enjoy it though!

Re: IRAN in Chit-Chat

Ali Dai (Iran frontman) has even shaved his world famous cock-sucking moustache for the occasion!! I hope Roy Keane is fit enough to play, we might not need him for the Dublin game but in Tahrain, he’ll be a huge loss if he doesn’t play. Predictions;
Ireland 2 Iran 0
Iran 1 Ireland 1

Roll on next summer in Korea/Japan. Is there anyone (from any country)planning to go?

Re: Europe 94 in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade

Got the ‘Europe 94’ CD and here’s what’s on it;
- the full Donington 94 gig (the same recording as on ‘Fistful of Power’ except not as edited, therefore slightly longer)
- two songs (Turn & Unbeliever) from Glasgow 5/4/94 (a fuller and better quality version of this gig is on ‘Good Fuckin Night’)
- a gig from Milan recorded early 93 (the sleeve says it was 94 but it can’t be ‘cos none of the songs are from Troublegum) the quality of this is pretty good considering it’s from from an audience recording.
The sleeve looks very professional (unlike GFN or Who Did This), kind of like those Italian KTS bootlegs (No Love Lost etc…).
Overall, it’s a pretty good bootleg, apart from those two Glasgow tracks.

Re: CAN YOU HELP ME? in General Therapy? Topics

A ‘bonk’ is an English slang word for sex, so I guess bonkified means to have been fucked a lot!

Re: Ireland in Therapy? Live

I’ll be there too, yet to get tickets though.

Re: Europe 94 in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade

Nope, don’t think it’s ‘Good Fuckin Night’ cos the seller showed the front cover which is a picture of the band with ‘Europe 1994’ written on it. I have ‘GFN’ and it has no pictures of the band, just a stupid question mark cover. I think the Donington gig is on it, though. Once I get it I’ll let you know.

Re: die laughing 7 trax???? in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade

Well, I just bought it so I’ll let you know! (I’ve a feeling it could be the US promo 2 track - I have this but it’s in bad nick, so I don’t mind getting it again)

Re: Opal Mantra live mp3 in General Therapy? Topics

Opal Mantra (live) id from the Forum in London, recorded 11/6/93. I like it even though the quality isn’t the greatest.
Question: is it just me or has anyone else noticed that the quality of ‘clear’ vinyl isn’t as good as regular black or coloured vinyl?
I have some other clear vinyls (of other bands) and in each case, the quality isn’t as good. Just thought I’d mention it!

Re: What is Therapy? like LIVE where you see them. in Therapy? Live

Iris, I don’t know! The Ambassador is a newly opened venue in the middle of Dublin city, and I haven’t been inside it yet. But (I think) it holds up to 1000 people. I guess I’ll know when I get there!!

Re: What is Therapy? like LIVE where you see them. in Therapy? Live

The biggest gig they played in Ireland was at the ‘Point’, Dublin in 95. At that time, it held about 8/9000 people. They also (more or less) headlined a couple of festivals which would have held about 40,000 each. But, the best gig I ever saw them play was the secret gig in a tiny pub in Dublin in 96 to about 50 people. I was standing, literally, about 12 inches from Andy! Whenever he sang/spoke, his spit landed on my face - I still don’t know whether this was disgusting or cool! Great memory though!
By the way, why do Therapy? only play Punishment Kiss in the US? They played it on their tour in 1996 and played it again when they played some gigs there in May of this year. Here’s hoping they play it in Dublin on December 8th!!

Re: Which is you favourite b-side? in General Therapy? Topics

Ronald, are you sure? At the start of the fan-club CD, Andy says ‘Good evening Arnhem!’ and this is definately the same gig as the ‘Dead Laughing’ CD.

Europe 94 in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade

Title: Europe 94

I just won this bootleg CD on ebay, but the seller gave no description of it besides the fact that it’s a factory produced CD. Does anyone have it?

Re: Which is you favourite b-side? in General Therapy? Topics

You’re right, ‘Our love must die’ is live from the Luxor, Arnhem, Holland 14/7/95 which is on the Stories re-issue, the fan club CD and ‘Dead Laughing’. Andy only plays the song because he says just before it, that Fyfe was feeling sick and ‘is going to sit down for five minutes’ - that’s the story. By the way, before anyone points out that the sleeve of ‘Dead Laughing’ says it was recorded in October 95, I know this and I know that this date is incorrect.

Re: Babyteeth or Pleasure Death? in General Therapy? Topics

Babyteeth is way better. Michael once said that Pleasure Death should have been only a 4 track EP (without DLC & Shitkicker) and I agree. The worst song on Babyteeth is ‘Loser Cop’ because it’s only ok, the rest are excellent. The only song I love off P.D. is ‘Prison Breaker’, the others are ok and DLC & Shitkicker are a bit crap.

Re: Fyfe Ewing in General Therapy? Topics

Fyfe, Matt from Soundgarden/Pearl Jam, Danny Carey from Tool, Jimmy Chamberlin from SP are the best ‘rock’ drummers I’ve heard. For metal, it’s Igor Cavalera and Dave Lombardo.
As for Graham being technically better than Fyfe, that’s only true if you regard jazz and jazz-esque style drumming as the technically superior form of drumming. Graham is a jazz trained drummer (his father was in the Guinness Irish jazz band), just because Fyfe is self-taught, does that make him the poorer drummer?
Take ‘Teethgrinder’ for example, it’s obvious Graham couldn’t play this disco/percussion drum-style so he plays it with a more regular
‘rock’ beat, which in my opinion, is nowhere near as good as the original. Watch a video gig of Fyfe’s playing back in 92/93 and then call him a technically inferior drummer! It seriously makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up when I witness some of his playing! His rhythm, licks, power & precision are amazing.

Re: Belfast in Therapy? Live

Iris, as for me - I live in the very south of Ireland (about 100 miles south of Dublin) so for me to go to Belfast to see them would be very difficult, although I’d love to see them in their home town.
I’ll just make do with Dublin. By the way, Belfast is about 70/80 miles north of Dublin, but the road is excellent so you’ll get between the two with no problems. Maybe I’ll see you at the Dublin gig!

They’re playing the Ambassador in Dublin on December 8th. I’m so there.

Re: Semi-Detached poster in General Therapy? Topics

I lost my Infernal Love CD last year, but I still have the Japanese version, the non-mix promo version, and the red 12” - so I’m okay!

Re: - SHAMELESS - in General Therapy? Topics

I prefer Fyfe, although Graham’s drumming has really improved - especially on Suicide Pact. But it has to be said, Graham’s drumming on Fyfe’s songs is abysmal, especially the likes of Teethgrinder, Screamager, Nowhere, Die Laughing…I could go on. And, I REALLY, REALLY hate that crap ‘ding-a-ling-a-ling’ symbal that Graham now uses a lot; anyone know what it’s called? You know the one I’m talking about?

Posted on Thu, 4 October 2001 at 09:34

Re: - SHAMELESS - in General Therapy? Topics

I think it’s a pretty disappointing album. Normally with Therapy? records, there’s a few brilliant songs and the rest are good. But this time, there’s a few only good songs and the rest are pretty poor.
The good songs would be Gimme back my brain, Dance, I am the money, Wicked Man, and maybe Theme from Delorean, but the rest I wouldn’t really rate. It seems they’re happy to put out ‘rock n’ roll albums’, and Andy has said this. So, it looks like Therapy?s days of experimenting and coming up with different types of music and original ideas, are over. Hell, in retrospect even ‘Suicide Pact’ sounds original compared to ‘Shameless’…by the way, Suicide Pact has actually started to become one of my favourite albums - never thought I’d say that when I first heard it two years ago!!

Re: Singles + HMV = Wankers! in General Therapy? Topics

… you like the 7 inch, huh? hee hee hee *sorry!

Posted on Thu, 27 September 2001 at 23:15

Re: Singles + HMV = Wankers! in General Therapy? Topics

I know this. It’s the same reason why bands split songs across only 3 formats (CD, 7’ & cassette / or 2CD’s & 7’) ‘cos anything more, and it wouldn’t get into the singles chart. (If they were allowed to, some bands might put out 10 cd’s with 1 different b-side on each).
As regards Therapy?, lets get serious: ‘I am the money’ will never in a million years get into the UK charts, so why couldn’t they put loads of songs on the one CD, and call it a mini-album? After all, Andy said before that he doesn’t care about chart success. Or, is he getting worried about money now that Therapy? don’t sell as much as they used to and that he now has a child to support???

Re: Evil priest in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade

Brendon, I meant that someone could have just recorded Slayer or some other metal band (more than likely a much lesser known band) onto the tape and said it was Evil Priest. Sorry for being a bit ambiguous in my last post! I doubt too that someone would actually record something with a band and pass it off as Evil Priest!! Especially since, Evil Priest were total pants by all accounts!!

Posted on Wed, 26 September 2001 at 23:11

Re: HAMFC on ebay. in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade

Brendon, there’s virtually (I think) no difference between the sound quality of the original and the bootleg - I think you just have a dodgy version of the bootleg…and before anyone asks; yes, I am sure that it’s an original and not a sneaky look-alike pirate copy!!
By the way, anyone have the ‘Meat Abstract’ boot? Or does it even exist?

Posted on Wed, 26 September 2001 at 23:05

Re: Evil priest in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade

Rudeboy, I’m not aware of Evil Priest making any recordings. What’s the sound like? Is it demo quality? Does it sound like it’s been done on a cheap recorder in someones garage? ‘Cos if the quality is very good, then it’s more than likely not Evil Priest but some other metal band that someone recorded on the tape pretending to be them.

Re: Message from the band?.. in General Therapy? Topics

They’re talking about the UK release, which is the last territory it’s being released in. It’s been released everywhere else first, which is strange.
