Re: Setlist 2012 / Berlin 28.3.12 in Therapy? Live

What songs did they play? Surely they played the “big 3” (Screamager, Nowhere, Die Laughing) off Troublegum?

Personally, as a long time fan, I would love to hear only stuff from Neil’s tenure in the band, ie. 2003 till now :-D
It’s what I’ve been hoping for years! Hearing half of Troublegum at every gig is a little tiresome I think.

I agree with Andrey - “The Buzzing” gets better the more I hear it, best track on the album. Would fit perfectly on the sublime SP-YF!

Get well soon Dave. Hope it’s nothing too serious.

Re: Dublin Show 10/03/2012 CONFIRMED in Therapy? Live

Afraid not Jerry, would love to but with the re-scheduled dates still on the horizon, as well as being away quite a bit rehearsing and gigging with my own band, I need to choose my battles wisely!
Don’t really wanna leave the missus holding the baby too much, you know yourself.

I know the singer from Army Rising, he’s a cousin of a friend of mine. They’re from Fethard, a small village outside Clonmel.
Not bad for 17 year olds from the sticks:

Re: Fyfe to record with Ginger in Other Bands & Artists

It seems the whole thing will be released in May.

If you’ve not “pledged” money yet, then the 3CD version (with all of cd 1 being Fyfe) is gone, although you can still get the download version.
A single cd of the best songs from the 3 cds will be commercially released in May, so will only have a few of Fyfe’s tracks.

Ginger’s calling the 3cd version “555%” (555% being the amount of pledges received and the cut-off point for its availability) and the single cd version “100%”.

Metal night at The Pint bar on Edens Quay?
I actually know one of the bands playing - Army Rising - they’re from a small village about 8 miles from my town.
Traditional Metallica/Maiden esque stuff.

Re: SXSW 2012 in Therapy? Live

Therapy? never confirmed the gig on this website, and if they’ve now been removed from the band listing on the SXSW page, add to the fact that the event is only a week away, it’s looking extremely unlikely that will be there.

Ha, haven’t put the cd in the player yet. Maybe never will. :)

Saw that gav, though they’re London based I think? They have an Iranian female vocalist. Never thought I’d see that sentence!

Ha, excellent! Seems Infernal Love era Therapy? lends itself quite well to artistic interpretation :)
Take a bow Anton Corbijn!

Re: T? vids on youtube in General Therapy? Topics

Ok, back to youtube videos…

Here’s “Little Tongues First” from Witnness Festival 2000 (this was essentially the first Oxegen Festival under it’s original name):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLPits3iakI

Great performance. I remember the gig was very rowdy - the security were extremely heavy handed, so much so that Andy stopped in the middle of a song to tell the security to calm down and stop being assholes to their friends, ie. fans. I also remember one security guy busting his ribs on the tv camera riser after a crowd-surfer fell on him, and having to be carted out on a stretcher!

Re: Re-release of Babyteeth, Pleasure Death in General Therapy? Topics

Harvey Birrell decided to remaster both BT and PD himself back in 2009. He then told the band that he’d done so at a London gig later that year. They were in favour of releasing them but didnt want it to clash with their plans. It now looks like Southern Records will release them later this year. I think there’ll be a live recording included (presumably one recorded by Harvey as he was their sound man in 91/92).

Harvey Birrell produced Nurse so it’s feasible that that will get the remaster treatment as well, although it’s owned by Universal Records so they would have to give it the green light. Either way, a Nurse remaster will definately not happen this year, just BT & PD.

Re: Therapy’s Instuments? in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

I don’t think they even took the Marshall logo’s off, they put Therapy? stickers over them.

Re: Therapy’s Instuments? in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

Fyfe used a 14” timbale snare. His kit is listed here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fyfe_Ewing

Michael used Status basses back then with Ampeg head & cabs,
For the past few years he was indorsed by Warwick basses, but was using a Status bass again at their most recent gig in January so the indorsement could be finished.

Re: A Brief CracK Of Light in General Therapy? Topics

Stark Raving Sane has definately grown on me, when I first heard it I thought it sounded like a OCFA b-side but I like it a lot now. The verses are great, the intro riff is cool, even the chorus is getting better, mainly due to Neil’s drumming, I think. The man is talented, no question.

Re: Funny lyrics in General Therapy? Topics

Andy’s grandfather was killed in WW2 and is buried in Belgium. So yeah, the lyric probably wasn’t intended to be funny.

Re: The Leftover Songs in General Therapy? Topics

I reckon there will be some kind of standalone release - the fact that none of them were released with the LITSOTTT single is telling.
Maybe they will come out with those weird re-recordings they did in 2010 of ‘Meat Abstract’, ‘Prison Breaker’ etc… that would be great.

Re: “A Brief Crack Of Light” cover, tracklisting and release date revealed! in General Therapy? Topics

Hmm, it seems it is possible afterall for users to migrate all “likes” onto their band page.
Kerbdog managed it recently with the help of a friend of theirs (who happens to be in a band called InMe, remember them?)

Anyway, I’ve asked the guy for tips…

Ah, that explains it. It is annoying though. You’d think whoever set up the unofficial fan page would defer to the real thing!!

The one with 16k likes is the weird auto-wikipedia page, fair enough.
But whoever owns the “Therapy? - The Band” unofficial page, should really close it down - it’s sparse and out-dated, yet still shows up prominently during a search. Quite confusing to the casual facebooker who wants to check out the band.

Re: “A Brief Crack Of Light” cover, tracklisting and release date revealed! in General Therapy? Topics

Yeah, I haven’t hit “like” on the unofficial page, yet whenever I make comments on the official page, they automatically end up on the unofficial one?
Strange set-up, I wish they’d (facebook) get it sorted. I did hear somewhere that they were looking at it, as most bands seem to suffer the same issue.

He he, the Kerrang review was written by Simon Young, also a T? fan and has posted here before, I believe.
Still, nothing wrong with liking a band you are reviewing!

Re: A Brief CracK Of Light in General Therapy? Topics

Artimus, I respect that you don’t like the album and that’s fair enough. However it seems to me that you talk about music as being a uniformed comodity. You say Marlow doesn’t tell a story like other instrumental bands’ songs, and that it doesn’t fit in with the album.

I like that it doesn’t sound like other bands and that it doesn’t sound like anything else on the abum.
Isn’t that the point in music as an artform? To be true to the artist who created it, and not just follow a template laid down by others?

Re: A Brief CracK Of Light in General Therapy? Topics

Yeah, you’re right actually. Troublegum is a sonically excellent album which doesn’t need adjusting.

How about the 2nd disk have the b-sides tacked on after the Troublegum pre-production demo’s? Would be nice to hear the album tracks “looser” as they probably were before they recorded them again a few weeks/months later specifically for the album.

I would really like a Troublegum re-issue a la Everything Must Go / Holy Bible in a hardback triple gatefold digipack

Disc 1 : Troublegum remastered - with new liner notes and photos etc

Disc 2 : B sides and rarities - ShortSharpShock, Opal Mantra, Trigger Inside and Nowhere B Sides for example

Disc 3 : DVD of Andy Michael and Chris Sheldon discussing the making of the CD plus live footage from the time e.g TOTP, etc.

If they release this in 2014 - That would be EPIC

That’s the spirit!
