Re: Manic Street Preachers in Other Bands & Artists

I didn’t like the new album after first listen but it grew on me as all Manics albums have done. I did like single It’s not War right away when I first heard it and I even liked the video which many seem to hate.

Re: Jurassic Rock, Mikkeli, Finland in Therapy? Live

Very good sound on those! Big thanks for sharing!

The second song is actually Rust though and not Hey Satan - You Rock. :)

Re: Jurassic Rock, Mikkeli, Finland in Therapy? Live

That’s a great article! Thanks for sharing.

Have to add that I really liked how Andy went into Hendrix “Fire” in the middle of Potato Junkie. So many cool moments in the show. I also
liked how they started Screamager. :)

Re: Jurassic Rock, Mikkeli, Finland in Therapy? Live

What an amazing show! The guys seemed very relaxed and it seems everyone enjoyed the gig. It was a lesson in groove to all the other
bands there as well as in interaction with the audience. HUGE THANKS Therapy?!!!! And jazz hands one more time! :D

Re: Jurassic Rock, Mikkeli, Finland in Therapy? Live

I will be there tomorrow too. Haven’t seen them since Nummirock something like ten years ago. This time I’m planning to be sober so
I get more memories of it. :)

Scared to hear about the bus traffic not working there though. Should I just drive to the festival area directly? I was planning to park in
Mikkeli and take the festival bus from there…

Therapy? tribute song recorded… in General Therapy? Topics

A year or so ago I posted a rough demo of a song I wrote as a tribute to my favorite band. Back then some people asked me to post the finished
song when it’s done so here goes…
It’s called Life Long Plan. We just had to add Teethgrinder type drum hits to the intro in the studio to complete the package. :)

Hope you enjoy it.

what other guitars and equipment do you own?

Here are my current guitars:

I went through most of the stuff out there and that’s what has stayed. Currently I’m having a custom V built by Amfisound guitars.

As for amps I’ve been using a Marshall Silver Jubilee stack for 5-6 years now. I use Ibanez STL pedal for overdrive. I also have a Sansamp GT-2 for direct recording which I really like. I went through the digital modellers but they are not for me.

I think I found my sound when I got the Jubilee Marshall and Ibanez STL combo. Before that I kept changing gear monthly. I’d still like to add a delay/chorus unit that I would be happy with.

Stand In Line - I’m downloading Your tribute now. :)

Good stuff! I only have crappy speakers here at work but I’ll check the tunes again from home. Did You use Line6 or some other modelling unit for the guitars?

Re: My tribute to Therapy? in General Therapy? Topics

Thanks all! :)

I used to be in an active band years ago but I just don’t have the time at the moment. 3 kids, work etc. I just enjoy music as a hobby but once I get my demo CD finished I’ll try to see if I could get it released by some small label.

I’m using Roland TD6V sound module. I also have Alesis SR16. I have a very old PC so software drums are out of the question although I think I could get better results with them. I just don’t want to mess with my recording setup cause it’s been running nicely for a long time.
I’ll check that website out - Thanks!

Re: My tribute to Therapy? in General Therapy? Topics

There are white SG Standards (although very rare) but I think he meant SG Custom like Andy’s.

If anyone is interested here is a rough mix (a little too dark) of the whole song:
Lifelong Plan MP3

Vocals to come.

Re: My tribute to Therapy? in General Therapy? Topics

I’ve owned SGs, LPs etc. but sold them. Nothing wrong with those but personally I prefer Custom Jacksons. Also I’m not aiming to copy Andy - I just wanted to pay tribute since he is one of my all time favorite musicians/songwriters. :)

Re: My tribute to Therapy? in General Therapy? Topics

Thanks! :)

I don’t use whammy bars so I ordered the guitar with regular Gibson style tunamatic bridge.
Pickups are new Duncan 59s. They are nothing special and I plan on changing for older ones soon. I use a Marshall Jubilee 50W stack driven by Ibanez STL pedal (just for boost).

My tribute to Therapy? in General Therapy? Topics

Title: My tribute to Therapy?

I’ve enjoyed Therapy’s music for half of my life and I want to share my tribute to them as a big THANK YOU for making my life better.

I play guitar, write songs etc. and for my first personal custom order guitar I took various specs from Andy’s guitars. I wanted to have a guitar that felt right for those Therapy riff moments. :D So here is what I came up with. It took 14 months for Jackson Custom Shop to build it but it was worth the wait. Here are front/back pics:
http://jacksonguitarpalace.com/J7091/front.jpg
http://jacksonguitarpalace.com/J7091/back.jpg
Lightweight mahogany, neck-thru, ebony board, short scale, fat neck etc. Kinda like a Gibson SG and Explorer combined in Jackson CS style.

And here is a YouTube video of me playing some parts from my Therapy tribute song with it:

I’ll post the full song MP3 when the vocals are done.

Thanks for looking! :)

Cool! Does anyone have a pic of AK1974 with vintage white finish?

Re: Most aggresive Therapy? song.. in General Therapy? Topics

I like Voodoo Doll and Watch You Go. Great performance on both and the chord changes are cool. More punk than the rest of the album but it still sounds like Therapy to me. And I like how fast the tempo is on both of them.

Re: Exclusive Therapy? webgig now available in General Therapy? Topics

I bought the whole thing and watched it in our home cinema room last night. It’s simply AWESOME! Pure rock and roll!
The sounds are great and the whole thing is very intensive. Great playing by the whole band.

My only disappointment was that Straight Life didn’t work as well as I would have hoped - needs 2 guitars like someone mentioned. But some tracks like Suing God sounded better than ever!

Re: Exclusive Therapy? webgig now available in General Therapy? Topics

Can’t wait to get home and download the whole thing! It’s like Xmas again. :)

I’m especially looking forward to hearing/seeing a live version of Straight Life.

Re: Most aggresive Therapy? song.. in General Therapy? Topics

Knives sounds the most aggressive to me. It’s something You could hear Kreator or some other thrash metal band playing. Great song!
The drum beat on Straight Life is brutal too but as a whole that song has a different feel to me.
Of the later ones Panic sounds really aggressive.

Re: The Framus in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

I like the look of the AK 1974 and the neck-thru construction makes it even more appealing to me. :)

Re: Help me to buy a guitar… in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

I always recommend getting an older used guitar that will hold its value. If You buy a new guitar You are losing money instantly and it takes months before You can be sure if it’s a keeper. If You buy a used 80s US made guitar like Jackson, Gibson etc. You are getting a professional quality guitar that will increase in its value. And the good thing is that at the moment You can still find them for steal prices.

Re: recording vocals in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

Good mic is essential if You want to capture Your natural sound but some cheaper mics have their own character which people love. But the thing I find most effective to get a professional vocal sound on tape is to use a tube mic preamp like ArtTube MP or similar. They are cheap and they make a BIG difference regardless of the mic You use.

2000 Nummirock, Finland. The first and only time I’ve seen them live. It was a great gig! Next time they come to Finland I’ll be there. :)
