Re: two questions. maybe you folks can help. in General Therapy? Topics

I think the title ‘Potato Junkie’ could also be a reference to how Ireland is stuck in its past and the days of potato famines and sectarian issues. Being a potato junkie is possibly some kind of analogy to being too closely linked to past events.

Opal is a gemstone, mantra is a repeated phrase.

I think they just sound good together and similar to Opel Manta.

Re: Free gig in General Therapy? Topics

Strange, but true. Why are they playing a free gig, is it for some kind of charity?

Brixton Academy is pretty big, I saw Nine Inch Nails there and I would guess it has a capacity of 5 or 6 thousand, if the seats downstairs are not in place. It is a converted theatre, and has a sloping floor, which is really weird if you’ve never been there before.

Re: gemil’s origin in General Therapy? Topics

Renton has just come off heroin and he has sex for the first time in ages, and he describes the orgasmic feeling as the best he had felt ‘since Archie Gemil scored against Holland in 1978’. This was a great moment in Scottish soccer heritage when an ugly ginger shortarse scored a wicked goal against one of the best teams in the world at the time during the 1978 World Cup in Argentina. We still never got to the second f****** round though, and we never have(YET!).

His son Scott Gemil is still playing somewhere in England, but he is shite as I can’t even remember who he plays for!

So now you know…

Re: Japan release of Shameless in General Therapy? Topics

‘Yeah, right! Here in Holland you’ll pay 40-50 guilders for a new CD. (Dank U - Free Records Shop -ugh). That’s about $18. Looking at the Japanese site I see prices ranging from 2000 to 2500 yen. That’s $18 also! Suck my dick! That’s bullshit!
Anyway, dutch people: Have you seen those nasty Euro transormations at the Free Record Shop. 21.99 or something Euro = 50,xx for a single CD! Fascists! I normally never buy at Free Record Shop but I really had to laugh. And you know the standard 2 CDs for 40 piek! Now it’s 2 CDs for $20 Euro… Haha fuckers! I’m not stupid you know!
Yes, it’s not funny…I cried…’

You really are a bit of a tosser aren’t you? You say what I said was bullshit but your lame brain can’t even think up a better excuse for Japanese CDs having extra tracks. Fuckwit. The reason is the higher retail price of Japanese CDs, which I gave. Don’t make me smack it into your thick head.

And as for sucking dicks, you are sucking mine every time you post on here in the English language you fool.

Re: Japan release of Shameless in General Therapy? Topics

He’s right, they put on bonus tracks becuase they CDs are so expensive in Japan.

They have started doing this in the UK too, because foreign imports would be cheaper but the extra tracks mean UK buyers would want the special UK edition sold at a higher price.

Check Weezer’s Green Album on cd101.com, there are two versions available, the more expensive one being the 11 track UK version, the cheaper being the 10 track European version.

It’s just record companies being w*ankers.

Re: Gimme x 3 + back my brain???? in General Therapy? Topics

It still says 30th July on 101cd.com, but they’re complete muppets and have listed it under ‘Therapy’ separate to all the ‘Therapy?’ albums…

Re: Isn`t it about time… in General Therapy? Topics

The capacity of a DVD is enormous, you could easily fit on ALL their videos and a concert too.

How many videos have they actually made? I’ve only seen as early as Nausea myself. Was that their first?

Okay, here’s a list: Nausea, Teethgrinder, Screamager, Turn, Opal Mantra(?), Nowhere, Die Laughing, Isolation, Trigger Inside, Stories, Diane, Loose, Church of Noise.

I’ve just done that really quickly, so feel free to add/delete entries(except Isolation, as I definitely saw that on MTV, even though it wasn’t a UK single). Did they do a video for Lonely, Cryin, Only or any SPYF tracks? Is there one coming for Gimme…?

Re: what do they drink… in General Therapy? Topics

Probably cos they’ve never asked them. This month, the yasked Black Sabbath what was on their rider. T? are not big enough in Britain to appear in Q. They seem to be bigger in other countries, is this right or have I just got things mixed up? Gimme Gimme Gimme is almost certain not to chart in the UK singles chart, it’s on a small indie label…

Re: 25 rarest tracks - heres my list… in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade

Isn’t Jonestown Mind the song Andy appeared on from The Almighty’s 1994 album ‘Crank’? It was remixed as a b-side of the single release of the song. The remix was really ambient and ghostly.
Or am I getting confused here?

Re: HELP Babyteeth/Pleasure Death CD mis-print? in General Therapy? Topics

I’ve had an email back from Southern Records and they are not aware of anu mis-prints so this could be mega-rare. Shall I put it on ebay? I’m happy to sell it, but the fact that the two people who want it from Belgium and the Netherlands means that we could have a currency problem. If only we had accepted the Euro…
If you want to contact me about buying this CD, you can do so at hamish6969@yahoo.com

Re: Yeah this is unrelated but hey… in General Therapy? Topics

(a) the reading bill is starting to look a bit full for the inclusion of more bands
(2) wassup?
(iii) I saw Snuff twice, and once I snuck in for free. They’re a decent live band.

Re: HELP Babyteeth/Pleasure Death CD mis-print? in General Therapy? Topics

Calm down guys…I’ve emailed Southern Records to see what they say. I only bought the CD from ebay because I couldn’t find it in the shops or on the Internet and thought it was unavailable. But I see they still sell it…

HELP Babyteeth/Pleasure Death CD mis-print? in General Therapy? Topics

Title: HELP Babyteeth/Pleasure Death CD mis-print?

I have just bought Babyteeth on CD from ebay.co.uk to replace my knackered tape copy. Everything was going fine until I put the CD into the player and it read ‘6 tracks’ and was only 22(ish) minutes long! Upon pressing play, I found that the CD was playing the Pleasure Death album!? Does anyone know if there was a batch of misprinted Babyteeth CDs? The actual CD is NOT a CD-R, and the printing matches exactly to the lettering on the CD case (ie the squiggly ‘Babyteeth’ title).
I don’t know what to do as this was my first purchase from ebay and the seller had a good rating so I don’t think he was trying to rip me off(although he should probably have noticed that there were only 6 tracks on the CD and seven listed on the the case and on the CD itself)
If this is rare, does anyone want to buy it, those stamps with the plane printed upside down are worth a packet!?

Re: next to you? in General Therapy? Topics

‘Therapy? is crap after Fyfe left’?? No way!
Why the hell would we be talking about them on the Internet 6 years after he left if they were ‘crap’?!
But I don’t think the albums are as consistently good as they used to be since he left (probably nothing to do with him leaving). They still ROCK!

Re: Albums…Bad Karma single… in General Therapy? Topics

No one mentioned ‘Caucasian Psychosis’ which was a CD released in America , but was just all the tracks from Babyteeth and Pleasure Death on one CD. It’s still for sale at http://www.cdnow.com, but you’d have to be a mad completist to want it, although it does have some different artwork to the two original CDs. You can see the artwork at cdnow.com

Re: therapy? music on a levi’s spot #2 in General Therapy? Topics

D’oh! What I meant was I have never heard T? on an advert in England.
D’oh! Just did it again. I’ll stop while I’m ahead…
Stiltskin were one hit wonders, but at least that one hit was GOOD..didn’t the singer join Genesis or something?

Re: therapy? music on a levi’s spot #2 in General Therapy? Topics

In England there was a Levi’s advert (spot?) which has a guy coming out of some water. That was back in about 94/95, but in England the music was a rock band called Stiltskin and the track was called ‘Inside’. Therapy? have never appeared on any Levi’s adverts in England.

Re: come and die in General Therapy? Topics

Judgment Night has a great soundtrack, but the film is pretty dull. They’ve shown it on terrestrial TV here in Britain a few times late at night…

Re: Two things in General Therapy? Topics

Thanks Alex!

Incidentally, there’s a wicked gabba track that uses that ‘I’m as angry as hell and…’ from the film Network that T? used in Disgracelands(new recording), but I don’t know what it is. Could be Ultraviolence or someone like that. Any ideas anyone? (Yes I know this is a very, very long shot!)

Re: Favourite song??? in General Therapy? Topics

No-one has mentioned ‘30 seconds’ - I just love the line ‘I look at myself in a sober light, I’m not Elvis but I’m alright’. It also has a great outro.

Why on earth were Snuff mentioned? I saw them twice - fave track is the Test Match theme tune!

Two things in General Therapy? Topics

Title: Two things

1) I hear that Therapy?’s new song is called Joey and is a tribute to Joey Dunlop. Are Therapy? going to do an album launch on the Isle of Man, which was Joey’s spiritual home? When Mansun launched their ‘Attack of the Grey Lantern’ here it made number one in the British album charts! Also, we rarely get any decent bands here.

2)Does anyone know where the sample at the end of Potato Junkie comes from? I was watching Easy Rider the other day and noticed the ‘all we represent to them is someone who needs their hair cutting’ sample, and it started me thinking. And yes, I do know that ‘Wake up, time to die comes from Blade Runner!
