Re: Question for cat owners in Chit-Chat

Hah! it IS weird, but the vet said not uncommon(???). Yeah could’ve been weird chemical crap, who knows? my docs think that’s what gave me parkinson’s is exposure to bad chemicals, etc. AND the little beast Sprocket snuck out last night through a hole in the basement wall, but we found him amongst the trees out back— all it took was shaking a container of crunchies to pull him off his walkabout! woo hoo for spoiled brat pets :)

Re: shameless - underrated and ahead of it’s time? in General Therapy? Topics

oh lord… I love it. True I may be biased, but…
I think it was another instance of Therapy? being ahead of the curve, or more likely of a record company being too stupid to do their jobs well.
I was the co-owner of private radio in seattle, where they did the pre-production before moving on to the amazing bob lang studio to properly record it. Endino did a ton of records at our place, and when he asked me if I wanted to hang out and do some gophering for them… well, I managed to not run around shrieking like I was completely insane, but it wan’t easy. I’d been a gigantic T? fan since the first, but sheeeeesh. Go get pay-per-view footie tickets and coffee for my favorite rock band in the world? uh…yes, I can do that. Pat and I are the pat and dave credited with handclaps on tango romeo (my real name is dubh david black), and Mr. Cairns made sure we were well hydrated :) Dream come true.
Endino does have a very no-bs style of production, some peeps love it, some not so much. But regardless of the production (or the admitted bias I have), there are GREAT songs on shameless. If ark21 woulda been smart, they’d have promoted it some. I don’t think they did— at all. I had to bug record stores in seattle to order it, and I don’t think that made any sense. Crap I could go on for years about all the great bits… but it definitely serves better to listen to it. There’s def. some humor there, but to me it’s like life, some times things seem so fkt that all you can do is laugh… ‘endless psychology’ comes to mind, great contrasting images. ‘Alrite’ sure sounds like now. The ‘yeah yeah’-s and cowbell under the solo? maaaaaaaaan. ‘Tango Romeo’ does have a humorous take on things true, but weirdly (and not at all uncommonly) I myself had a scenario kinda like that in the north of ireland. I love the whole feeling of the record— like driving tooo fast in the pouring rain with your headlights out, trying to get home before the drugs kick in… yeah. “No more drugs for this young man…” Like that! Sheesh, would it be weird if I posted an obsessive song-by-song breakdown of what I love about this record? Hmmm then suicide pact next, then who knows… on another personal level, I got diagnosed with parkinson’s in ‘04, and hearing Andy sing ‘don’t you worry, it’ll be okay’ really truly made everything better. Distortion saves lives!

Re: Question for cat owners in Chit-Chat

um…’plates of cocaine’???????… ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
sheesh my wife and I just had to take our cat to the vet last week, he’d started to grow an extra toe at age 12! No probs, it was benign, he’s all healed up. But it was a laugh when we brought him home, he was Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh as a kite. Kept woozin’ around, and then would stare into his water dish, swat at it to make ripples, then just sit and stare at it… the vet’s assistant told us gleefully about the valium and ketamine cocktail they use… of course all I could think of was ‘…somebody please get me out of this k-hole..’ but Sprocket the cat seemed to be having the time of his life… lucky bastid…

Re: hi in New Members (Introduce Yourself)

hiyers everybooty. Um, Mrs. H, £20 is now like $649 trillzillion dollars u.s., will you take a post-dated check?
Right so, it’s in the mail… or the czech is into males, I always get confuzilated on that…
I’m dubh— yep that is indeed my real name— one of them orrish names, sounds like ‘duff’ or ‘dove’ to you earth people. I live in portland, oregon way out west. I tend to ramble on insanely. I live with my fabbo wife, our best pal Pat, and a cat that started growing an extra toe just months ago at age 12… I mix rekkids and make bowel-disrupting sounds. Just finished mixing 6 of the 13 songs for a new rekkid from dublin’s rawk-behemoths Large Mound. It’s yummy. My buddy Pat and I used to own a studio in seattle called private radio, those nice therapy kids did the pre-production for ‘shameless’ there. I was giddy and tryin’ to be cool, managed to resist gushing my burning lurv to them even though I was constantly about to scream like a baby. Mr. Cairns mixes a durn good jack n’ coke, I’m still recovering. I found out about a year after that that I have this hilarious thing called parkinson’s disease— really, it is hilarious! whoda thunk it?? and I don’t blame t? for it :) since getting on the proper medications— only about 6 mo. ago— life is pretty freakin’ good. Heck, the Large Mound was the 1st record I’ve worked on, really, for 3 years. One of my fave bands, Yakuza from belfast, is coming over to portland end of october to finish their record here, and I’m fit to bust with joy. I just last week got the invite to join up with THE ENIGMA, who is a lovely, talented, 100% tattoo-covered blast of life. Yes he does have real horns under his skin. We’re coming to europe in 2008, so if you know any TRUSTWORTHY bookers etc., we’d be much obliged, and Enigma would probably do you a free puzzle piece tattoo. Like I said, I tend to ramble…
