Re: What’s EveryOne Listening To in Other Bands & Artists
The Bakerton Group: [self titled]
Clutch w/o vocals- newly released disc. straight up instrumental rock with a jazzy twist I’d say. Pretty killer but the organ/keys get old.

“3rd and 6” - they’re on their 3rd try of 4 on yard 6. meaning they have 4 yards to go before they get 4 more tries at 10 more yards. yeah, i can see how it can be confusing.
yeah, it seems the less talented american football players play for the world league. as far as soccer taking off in America- professionally no, however pick up games are always being played in local parks. It’s very popular with youth because they can be so untalented and still be a member of a team. I mean you can just jog around and never touch the ball. I have 2 friends who follow MLS over here as well as world cup; but that’s it.
/no disrespect meant towards soccer.

Dennis: Correct!
MonkFish: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_football
in a nutshell, the field is a length of 100 yards total. one team has 4 tries (downs) to move the football 10 yards at a time. once the football is moved a minimum of 10 yards the team gets 4 more tries. the ball is moved by passing (throwing/catching) plays or by running (quarterback hands the ball to a runner who tried to scurry past the defense)
oh and i so want to buy this shirt from bustedtees.com

here a can is used for soft drinks, canned produce or a synonym for one’s posterior side, i.e. The fleshy part of the human body that you sit on. or if one is to lose their job- they are fired or canned. a toilet is also a can. the word ‘can’ is featured prominently in children’s literature- the train who says ‘I think i can”

Re: Prong in Other Bands & Artists
The only ones i’ve ever listened to are Cleansing and Rude Awakening. Cleansing’s “Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck” is a classic. Rude Awakening is almost a concept album— better taken in all at once.

do I have to start misspelling words like color (colour) ?

Wow, you have a category for new members? in New Members (Introduce Yourself)
I’ve been meaning to join this board for quite a while- just never have.
Therapy?- One of my closest friends introduced me to the Troublegum cd in ‘94 and I’ve been hooked since. No matter how my music listening tastes have changed through the years T? has continued to be in the mix. And their albums keep getting better imo.
Now Playing?- I’ve turned into a huge Frank Zappa nerd. Yeah, I’m one of those guys. My favorite semi-modern rock bands?: Clutch, Helmet, Therapy?, Fugazi, Primus; in that order. As far as modern music I mostly listen to alt rock/metal - pretty much anything on Hydra Head and most stuff on Relapse. I dig Pelican, Red Sparowes, Isis, Mastodon, Baroness, etc. Keeps me young.
Personal?- I live in the US (West Virginia for those who care). I’m not sure how many American fans are on this board. It’s a bit tough for me to follow some of your discussions. A bit of it gets lots in translation or perhaps because of cultural differences.. I’ve been married 6 years and have a two year old daughter. I’m an electrical engineer and i work for the federal gov’t.
that’s me.

Re: New bruce rocks..!! :D in Other Bands & Artists
it’s probably pretty bad that when I read the title for this thread I immediately thought of Bruce Campbell and Evil Dead movies.

Re: I just bought… in Other Bands & Artists
“Love’s Miracle” by David Yow’s (Jesus Lizard) new band Qui. It’s ok. I really just picked it up because they cover Zappa/Beefheart’s “Willie the Pimp”.
“King of America” - Costello; I’ve only been collecting Costello stuff for a couple years. I’m hooked!
“Last Sucker”- Ministry; eh, it’s ok. The Eisenhower speech on the last track is awesome. The cover of the Doors’ “Roadhouse Blues” is horrid.
/new to this message board. trying to fit in.

Tim Sult from Clutch is also on “Joey”. the ‘revving’ axe sound at the beginning of the track.
