All that talk of The Hold Steady had me dig up Lifter Puller - Fiestas and Fiascos CD.

Excellent for a Friday afternoon just before finishing work.

I think all the Lifter Puller records are out of print and I’m not a fan of ebay.

Have that one in the car and play it on a regular basis , although I do prefer ‘Boys And Girls In America’ as a whole.

Stay Positive goes a bit flat after the first 2 tracks imo , but as I only have a 10 minute drive into work I usually don’t make it past those 2 anyway.

Stay Positive is my favorite. I mean, I always like “Almost Killed Me” it has got that magic which re-create Beat Generation patterns to reach unsung stories of the İnternet generation. But Stay Positive is the grower. Yeah Sapphire, Joke About Jamaica and Slapped Actrees are the high points and probably their best. And B-Sides cool too, especially “Ask Her for Some Adderall”.

Here’s the game changer live version of the S/T song. You can’t beat it.

Re: Re-Releases, Cd industry. in Other Bands & Artists

I’m a big fan of CD’s and always try to buy Delux one (Special Edition) at the beginning. But you know, there will be another special special edition take place after six month later of the proper release. And don’t forget 25th edition or even 30th edition discs (London Calling 25th edition far better than 30th, ironic right?) and it goes on like this. I have got two “British Steel”, two “Goddamnit”, two “Crooked Timber” two…

It starts very good… then it starts to fall apart. But you never see the ground. It’s mature, bold and sometimes exciting. Sadly not addictive enough.

Wouldn’t call it the Worst Album of 2011 but it is very mediocre. Like waiting for something to happen that just doesn’t come.

I played the new Magazine album ( No Thyself ) right after it and it is just so much better it’s unreal. Now there’s a contender for Best Album of 2011 !

“Worst album of” subject is kind a expended topic. I mean you have every kind of technical support, guitars, amps, etc… and lot of money to create a sound or image, a word that you want/wish. In the other hand there’s a band whose limited sources going nowhere, miserable day job, day late and dollar short situation bring the white noise. I kinda respect that. There’s a passion but no time, money or talent. So it’s considerable. I can safely say who haven’t listen this album yet…believe the anti-hype. This could be the worst album ever made by any music genre. We need more time and a new perspective to decide that.

Re: Metallica & Lou Reed in Other Bands & Artists

It sounds like a soundtrack of a dream that built by a lonely teenager whose dreams fills with nude step mother and goat-head biology teacher. But you know, it could be worse. It could be about German playwright Frank Wedekind’s wet dreams or something like that.

Re: Metallica & Lou Reed in Other Bands & Artists

I don’t think anyone life is complete without listening “Lulu”. It’s a kind a cosmic joke. It’s not the worse album ever made but probably worse of 2011. But if you consider yourself a music fan, you have to listen this. Simple like that.

Re: foo fighters in Other Bands & Artists

I’ve never liked this band; sounds too generic and safe for my taste but their latest album (Wasting Light) is almost classic.

I have got Quiet Earth too. Part of it Death Magnetic beater with killer riff after riff after motherfucking riff. Overally it’s good but not rich or adventurous as it should be.

It’s an entertaining album. It’s not a standout one like some fans mention though.

Re: 2010 end of year round up in Other Bands & Artists

I didn’t forget “World Is Yours” - I have just thinking, it’s not actually this year’s release except the fact that German release date and CR edition. I think it’s one of the Motorhead’s best album since, i don’t know maybe Bastards or Sacrifice. Campbell and Dee are literally on fire. Try this at home.

Re: Manic Street Preachers in Other Bands & Artists

I have Bradfield’s one and it’s almost perfect solo record. I don’t know anything about Wire’s “I Killed the Zeitgeist”. Honestly; i’m afraid to discover it beneath the dark sky of this depressing season. Maybe next summer.

Re: Manic Street Preachers in Other Bands & Artists

Send Away The Tigers era not bad all. At least more experimental than the record. I really respect their work ethic, they are more productive than the bands at their half age. And it’s good time for a live record. I think it should be their next.

Re: The Wildhearts in Other Bands & Artists

Finally i will buy Earth Vs. I’ ve fight myself over ten years to not buy this record. Don’t ask why. I think coolest one is Endless Nameless because i familiar just two b-sides. But hands down for P.H.U.Q! If you don’t have the singles or never heard these sessions B-sides, it’s a dynamite.

B-sides. Nothing special. Yet.

I think Journal’ deluxe didn’t include hidden track Bag Lady. I don’t know anything about the package though.

Re: Jimmy Eat World - Invented in Other Bands & Artists

It’s the most organic JEW record. Now, i don’t have anything against Gil Norton and Butch Vig but Trombino really knows the JEW’s language. You can feel the layers, feeling and ideas. I can’t tell it’s better than “Chase This Light” (strangely i heart that LP) or “Futures”. Time will tell. But it’s solid comeback from one of my favorite band.

Re: Bad Religion in Other Bands & Artists

It’s “Generator” meets “Process of Belief” kind a record. Nothing outstanding but they still try to expand their sound -little bit of Tom Petty, little bit of Costello… they try at least, they respects their fans IQ and I respect them. ( 30 years in this business is something, I’ve started to listen this band at 92 so it amazes me sometimes…) By the way; Spin will release a free tribute album mid october, you can check some of the songs here: http://www.spin.com/articles/listen-top-acts-pay-tribute-bad-religion

Re: Manic Street Preachers in Other Bands & Artists

Good for you Buffalo Boy. About live date. And for my opinion; this songs born to singing with a crowd. Especially “Golden Platitudes”. But you have to earn it. First.

Re: Manic Street Preachers in Other Bands & Artists

It’s a glam record and a decent one. I don’t think it’s sound like Send Away the Tigers. Maybe Send Away the Tigers meet Lifeblood at the football stadium. My early favorites are “I Think I Found İt” and “Don’t Be Evil”. Overall: Good record with great ideas which rooted behind the enemy lines at 70’s. I like it.

(It’s Not War) Just the End of Love. September 13; I checked out on youtube to see/feel the “Postcard“‘s heart. And I’ve got hope (not high).

i’ve heard the album. doesn’t sound like aerosmith. it’s more or less all variations of “autumn song”. “radio-friendly” - at least in their minds - hard rock songs with lots of strings on almost every one of them. a bit frumpy and too convenient, too catchy at times… but all in all not a bad album. if you liked “send away the tigers”, you should like this one.

It will be my new bible then. I don’t like the first single though; too generic for late Manics’. Still wanna here the B-Sides.
