I think it would be great fun, even if it was just one track. Vileevils (Ex-PWEI) did a competition on a site called AcidPlanet.

More bands should do the remix stuff that NIN have been doing, making the parts available for anyone that wants to make their own. I’d love to do a T? remix.

Maybe it’s different if you’re following a lot of random people just for the hell of it, or expecting band members to be more than just a normal person.

Most of the people in bands that I follow are people that I actually know, or have an interest in the opinions of. I reckon that twitter is pretty useless unless you’re seeing posts by people who either pass on more information about things that interest you, or they’re people you don’t have a realistic view of and they’re posting everyday stuff - making them more like a real person.

I also missed it, due to being unable to buy things online. That’ll be changing soon, not sure if that’s a good idea though.

Depends how you do it. When my old band did some cymbal overdubs the drummer just sat listening to the original drum track on the headphones and only played the cymbals.

Why? On the 2nd take you’d only be playing the cymbals, you wouldn’t play the whole fill or the drums would be recorded by the cymbal mics.

As long as they keep a fair amount of the rawness in there, that’s what made those records so great when they came out.

I miss Fopp. There is still one in the centre of Glasgow but my local one was closed down when HMV bought the chain - there’s an HMV right across from where it was. Fopp was great for offers and never overpriced new releases.

I always preferred the indie stores, but these days they’re a dying breed. Can’t remember the last time I saw one in a small town.

And they wonder why so many people download music illegally these days.
