I can confirm that there was a virus (worm) sent over the mailing list. Luckily my mail server blocked it. To get rid of it, try the removal tools from Symantec (http://www.sarc.com) or stinger from McAfee

Re: a few questions, sir… in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade
Well there’s the hilarious ‘Laughing CD’ which is a digipak that plays a sample as you open it… mine still worked when I checked it :)

Re: (Trigger Inside+Nowhere)Remixes 12” = CD in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade
I think you should put some kind of notice on the cover because now it looks like an official release on CDM which may confuse fans or record shops should they ever get it. Why not just send the mp3s to the webmaster to get them included on the rare sound clips page?
I already have this 12’ a long time so I guess I could make mp3s of them but since you already have them in digital form…

Re: Any drummers out there?? in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
I don’t know a shop that sells them, but the distributor’s homepage
is at http://www.bigbangdist.com/ and they’ll probably be able to help you further. Let me know when you tried them :)

Re: wet wet wet in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade
I have one as well. Not sure if it’s a promo, I rarely see any jukeboxes around but it looks like one that would go in nicely as it has two bands on it. At the time I bought it at a record fair, don’t think it cost me much, about US$5 or so. Might be lucky because I haven’t seen one since.

Re: a few things… in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade
Keep those drum sticks on you, I don’t know if Fyfe used special ones but he was (is? :) a great drummer. Especially if you have a pair, that makes ‘em useful as well ;-) I generally don’t value signatures much if I don’t know the story behind them but getting them yourselves after a great concert is priceless.
By the way, if anyone knows where to get a pair of Shaw sticks Graham Hopkins edition (new ones I mean even though slightly used ones by the man himself would be fine ;), mail me whaley@mondopaddy.com!

Re: the shittiest thing happened EVER in my life.READ! in Therapy? Live
I read this on BUGS, a Pearl Jam mailing list, about a band called Dismemberment Plan (excellent band by the way):
> I was supposed to see them tonight, but you know what happend?? They
> drove to another City called ‘Monheim’ near Munich what is about 800
> kilometers away from Tilburg, where the played yesterday. The real
> Monheim, which is near Cologne, was just around the corner and

Re: HAMFC on ebay. in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade
My bootleg HAMFC is rather awful, and there’s the Record Collector
article saying Michael got the bootleg while on tour with a dodgy
picture of himself and awful sound quality. I may hope the original
sounds better. No idea how much better though, because I’ve never
heard the original. The original Meat Abstract single sounds a lot
better than the bootleg HAMFC, anyway.
I don’t know about a Meat Abstract bootleg. Is that a copy of the 7’?
Any obvious difference in sleeve or record?

Re: I met Therapy? in Amsterdam yesterday! in Therapy? Live
http://www.oor.nl
OOR magazine is the biggest of the better (i.e. non-teen) music magazines in the Netherlands. They have some good and some bad interviewers, I have mixed feelings about them, but since Opscene is out of business they are the best magazine in .nl
Then there is Aloha which is quite similar, but has even less about new bands, and LiveXS which is about live concerts and mostly Dutch bands, and FRET which is only about Dutch bands but quite good at that.

Re: Therapy? costs in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade
Paypal accepts credit cards and doesn’t cost much, it is like a bank
account. BidPay also accepts credit cards but costs a lot because what
they do is print out a Money Order and send it (by good old snail mail) to the recipient who must then go to some post office or bank
(dunno) to get the money. Both work fine, but BidPay just costs the
buyer more. In my experience when I buy a cd from the US through eBay, usually the cost of packaging/shipping/handling is more than the cd itself…

Re: Gibson SG in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
It should be easy to get an SG.. provided you pay big $$$ for it :(
I don’t know about clones, all I ever see is the Les Paul design…
I bet a clever guitar builder could get you the same sound though.

Re: Whole shameless tour in Therapy? Live
I agree that they should have included Finland, real fans there now have to go to the north of Germany I guess. AFAIK Ireland has always had one or more shows every year (Dublin and Belfast).

Re: Therapy? font in General Therapy? Topics
Do you mean the ‘Marshall’ one as opposed to the former ‘Eurostyle’ font? I also prefer the old logo myself. (The one you can see very clearly at the top of this page on Babyteeth, Pleasure Death and Nurse)

Re: The full T? discography in General Therapy? Topics
I was working on one for http://www.mondopaddy.com but I’m so busy with other things that I don’t know how soon it will be finished.
I’m sorting out everything I have myself but it’s a slow enterprise. Maybe one day there will be several almost complete discographies ;-)

Re: A note on mp3’s in Chit-Chat
I have recently encoded some songs in Ogg Vorbis format and it sounded better to me. Will have do some more in order to give a better review but the highs sounded better.

Re: Therapy? on a Belgian Radiostation in General Therapy? Topics
I listened to the Studio Brussel interview (read the mail and realised it was on at that moment!) and recorded it on minidisc but with lots of noise because I got it off the air in the Netherlands.
Here’s a summary:
First the host asks Michael about a Michael Jackson song and he politely avoids calling it shit and says for people who are into it it must be okay ;-)
Then he says he’s been living in Belgium for about 6 months ‘at a secret location’ in Brussels. His girlfriend got a job in Brussels and he’s got family in Belgium and he always had a good time there and it’s going fine so far
Then they talk about the new single ‘I am the money’. It’s a wee bit different from normal Therapy?. It’s still a heavy rock song but a different twist from what they’ve done before. They wanted to make it more to the point. Last album had longer songs on it, now it’s ‘less is more’. The album’s not too short though, 12 songs. The album comes out the last week of september it’s called ‘Shameless’ because that was the attitude they took recording it. They didn’t worry about magazines and radio, if they liked it they played it.
The tour is not set yet, but they expect to do a long European tour in October, November and surely will come in Belgium.
Then they played ‘I am the money’.

Re: Where is our next female rock hero??? in Other Bands & Artists
Well, literally it means to play rock music. A ‘next female rock hero’ would be a female who plays rock music and becomes an idol, a very respected person and/or a courageous person. You could also say a musician ‘rocks’ if what he/she does turns you on (not necessarily sexual). So yes, Bjork and Tori Amos (and Erykah Badu and Tracy Chapman and Lou Rhodes of Lamb) can definitely rock some people’s worlds.
To become ‘female rock hero of our age’ you’d need to get a lot of respect by playing rock music. Quite frankly I have no idea who that should be these days. Alanis Morissette???
Actually there’s no real active female rock hero in my book, or it should be Skin who is about to release a solo album.
Oh, and personally what I heard and saw from Heather Nova was quite boring but that’s a matter of taste. And Sister, where did you see Krezip live?

Re: Where is our next female rock hero??? in Other Bands & Artists
There’s one difference between Skin and Andy: Therapy? still rocks, Skunk Anansie is gone. And Rehab to me is like a rock song with more apparent dance influences. Yes I’ve seen Skin several times with Skunk Anansie and if she continues to do something like that, she definitely belongs to the top 3 of current female rock stars.
No I’m not joking about Jacqueline Govaert, you shouldn’t think all they do is like ‘I would stay’. She definitely rocks more than Heather Nova.
Bjork doesn’t really ‘rock’ except for the Skunk Anansie version of Army of Me. Nevertheless she’s a great musician.
Anneke van Giersbergen (The Gathering) has the most beautiful clear voice I’ve ever heard and she also looks cool (even more so without make-up) but every time I see the band I still get quite bored by the music.
And Courtney Love (for the Dutch: Kut Cobain), well I don’t know. I like some of the songs that Hole did but the appearance of a sleazy bitch doesn’t turn me on. I don’t think Courtney really meant a lot to the music world, besides being Kurt’s wife.
Did anyone mention Sonic Youth yet?
Oh, and L7 :)

Re: Lowlands! in Chit-Chat
I’m not going either, it costs too much for me right now and I don’t think there’s any bands I must see. But check Lais (three belgian girls singing folk songs) and Wealthy Beggar (dunno.. a bit of soulwax maybe, no idea how to describe)

Re: Where is our next female rock hero??? in Other Bands & Artists
Sarah Bettens (K’s Choice), Jacqueline Govaert (Krezip).
Well dunno about ‘female rock hero’, I guess that’s Janis Joplin and nobody before or after that. Skin unfortunately doesn’t quite ‘rock’ anymore as far as I heard her work with Maxim. I agree that the singer of Guano Apes rocks. Another female rock singer that rocked was Simone Holsbeek of the Cords.

There’s one with Michael on the front, that’s the bootleg. I have that one.

Re: Official Nausea Bag in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade
Okay, got an answer from Mr.Cairns himself ;)
quote:
the nausea bag was given out by a&m in america to radio stations, record stores and pluggers in 1992 as part of a promotional campaign for the nurse album.
My guess is that some record stores simply took the bag to use with any T? item they would sell, therefor mine had Teethgrinder. Another guess then would be that at least a few hundred existed.

Re: practically non-existent T? stuff in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade
The Isolation 12’ simply has ‘ISO12-A’ etched in on one side, and ‘ISO12-B’ on the other side, and is on regular black vinyl with a white center and stamped on it is THERAPY? and ISOLATION.
If I’ve ever seen white labels, I guess this is it :) No idea how rare it is, I bought it at a record fair for a decent price.

Mine is not so good, it has been torn a little, but still I’m happy with it. I do have the Nausea promo as well so I could reunite them ;-)

Re: practically non-existent T? stuff in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade
I have an Isolation promo 12’, it’s in a black sleeve with a hole in the middle so you can see the label, which is just white with a ‘stamped-like’ ISOLATION on it.

Re: CHAT ON TEETHGRINDER.COM??? in Your Feedback & Suggestions
We can quite easily create a chat channel at Cyga.net, which is a small IRC network and already hosts some bands’ official chats. You can check out for example http://www.kschoice.com or http://www.green-lizard.com
They have a web interface as well for those who can’t get on IRC with mIRC or such client.
