The Pogues Rum Sodomy And The Lash
Incidentally , had a heated discussion with some nutter in the pub a while ago who argued The Pogues’ best album is If I Should Fall From Grace With God , whereas every person with a bit of insight knows its Rum Sodomy and The Lash by a country feckin mile. Excellent album !
On topic , I’m now listening to The Great Rocksteady Swindle by The Slackers.

Is the P.I.L. one any good ? Saw them about a year ago in Dublin and that was one killer show.
Having a listen here to Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus .

Been youtubing a bit today at work , just had Grace Potter ( of Nocturnals fame ) on doing a cover of Neil Young’s Cortez the Killer with Joe Satriani on axe doing the solo bits.
Ready for the weekend now after watching that a couple of times.

Some Womble who shall remain unnamed stuck it in the CD player in my car on Sunday morning and it’s still there. :)

Got a couple of new releases dropped on my desk this week :
Biohazard - Reborn in Defiance , like the sound of it after a first spin
Pulled Apart By Horses - Tough Love , disappointing so far
When work permits it I’ll have a go at Lacuna Coil and Lamb of God.

Re: Enter Shikari’s new album, it’s good! in Other Bands & Artists
Au contraire me compadre , I quite like Enter Shikari. Think they are more than dub step and dnb though.
In fact , our own Andy J Cairns is apparently rather fond of dub step.

Re: Graham Hopkins to join Snow Patrol for tour in Other Bands & Artists
Went to see Snow Patrol in Dublin last night ( Ms Cuch likes them ) and Graham was joining in as second drummer on a few songs.
Even got a song dedicated to him.
Anyways , it was nice to see him again and doing well.
Not my all time favo T? drummer but in fairness he could be doing worse than starting a tour with SP playing in front of 12,000 people for a couple of nights.

Listening to a Dutch punk collective called The Ex.
They’ve been around since 1979 but never really caught on , strange as they are actually pretty good and made some great albums.

Slayer performing Reign In Blood in full in Other Bands & Artists
Wonder where they got the idea from…
“On the weekend of the 25th-27th May 2012 at Alexandra Palace, London, All Tomorrow’s Parties will present the second UK I’ll Be Your Mirror event. Tickets are on sale via ATPFestival.com from Friday 11th November at 10am.
ATP are incredibly excited to announce that this year the event starts on Friday 25th May when the incomparable SLAYER will present their undisputed classic Reign In Blood live in it’s entirety during their headline set to celebrate it’s 25th anniversary! Released in 1986, it is widely considered one of the greatest albums of all time - in 2006 Metal Hammer named it “The best metal album of the last 20 years.”
Excellent line-up over the weekend with Mogwai , Guided By Voices , Sleep , Melvins , Mudhoney , Codeine and Yuck also on the bill.
Wouldn’t mind another trip to London meself for this.

Re: I heard, the Stereophonics split up… in Other Bands & Artists
Mister buffalo-boy , for once I’m actually dead serious.
Been asked to work on it so I’m pretty much up to date on the script , who will play what , approved budgets from the IFI , working title , signed contracts and production meetings.
Unless I’ve been all dreaming this over the last year or so which is highly unlikely.

The Hold Steady - Stay Positive
Have that one in the car and play it on a regular basis , although I do prefer ‘Boys And Girls In America’ as a whole.
Stay Positive goes a bit flat after the first 2 tracks imo , but as I only have a 10 minute drive into work I usually don’t make it past those 2 anyway.

Re: I heard, the Stereophonics split up… in Other Bands & Artists
The Phonics will be involved in a great music movie for which filming will start in Ireland next year.
Kelly is the main character and it will include roles for members of bands like RHCP , Metallica and U2.
I’ve read the script recently and it looks really good.
