Re: What’s EveryOne Listening To in Other Bands & Artists
Same here , hooch.
When I said they will prob become big I meant that they have all the ingredients to be picked up by a big label soon and propelled into space as the next best thing by hyping it all up on MTV and the likes. The teenagers will love it for sure.

Re: What’s EveryOne Listening To in Other Bands & Artists
Been listening to The BlackBox Revelation a lot these days. Although only a two-piece ( drums , guitar + vocals ) , these Belgian dudes are just awesome. Bit like T? without the bass.
Also got a burned CD from Silversun Pickups thrown on my desk earlier. Not too bad although a bit too Breeders-esque for my liking.
Can see them becoming pretty big pretty soon though.

Re: What’s EveryOne Listening To in Other Bands & Artists
Last couple of days I’ve been listening to Urge Overkill - Saturation.
After cleaning out the car it was the only CD left in there so I’ve been playing it driving to and from work.
Had almost forgotten how great an album it is , absolutely love it.

Re: Worst bands at the moment. in Other Bands & Artists
Lately I developed a sort of love-hate thing with Amy Winehouse.
At the moment I’m on the hate side again where I think she’s an overrated junk bitch.

Re: Joshua Tree Reissue in Other Bands & Artists
Yes.
As much as I dislike Bono , still think it’s a great album with some gems on it.
Will probably put it on my X-Mas or birthday list.

Dennis , man , your lively imagination keeps amazing me.
There should be a job somewhere out there to make you filthy rich using your gifts to their full potential.

Re: Joy Division film in Other Bands & Artists
Saw the movie over the weekend and I think it’s excellent. Sam Riley puts down a very good Ian Curtis.
Heard the movie gets bad critics in the States , but then again what do they know about good taste ?
When the movie was launched in the USA , Peter Hook was allegedly asked to reform JD and do a once-off gig for it , but replied that the last time he checked their frontman and subject of the movie was dead.
Also bought the DVD from The Future Is Unwritten over the weekend , it’s just out here. That and Control made my weekend a pleasant one.

Re: underrated bands? in Other Bands & Artists
How on earth are Weezer underrated ? They had their hits in the top 40 and had all the kids jumping around to them on the big festivals.
Overrated more like , although that destroy my sweater song was great when put into practice…
There’s some real underrated bands that are way better than anything mainstream nowadays but don’t make it because they don’t have a big commercial record company behind them.
There’s a band in Dublin called Still Life who can play anything anywhere but stick to their own written stuff and the odd Maiden or Motorhead cover. Too bad they don’t get any airtime because all the stations are too busy with another shitty boyband Louis Walsh threw at them, probably raping another 70’s classic , or plugging U2s The Joshua Tree again and again as the best thing since sliced bread.
If ever in the money , first thing I’ll do is an Irish T? gig with a Still Life support slot. Things would never be the same again ! :)

Re: Bands that I hate!!! in Other Bands & Artists
Robbie Williams , and not just for ‘musical’ reasons but mainly for personal ones.
Other than that I hate that prick Louis Walsh and every ‘band’ that he manages.

Re: Amorphis in Other Bands & Artists
Long time fan of Amorphis but I don’t have their latest album yet. Might take some searching to find it here but hope to get it soon.
Nice anecdote : at an Amorphis gig in Noorderligt in Tilburg years ago ( around ‘96 is my guess ) a crowd surfer hit the back of my head. When turning around it seemed no one less then Finnish international football player Joonas Kolkka was flying around the place going absolutely mental.
I say fair play to him , don’t think his coach was aware he was there though risking to get injured.

Was there as well and enjoyed the show , as far as I can remember.

The compilation Death to the Pixies ( 1987-1991 ).
Great album , always thought that Planet of Sound has all the marks of a typical T? track.

Type O Negative in Other Bands & Artists
Title: Type O Negative
Just listening to a media copy of new CD ‘Dead Again’.
Think it’s not as good as October Rust but still an excellent album.
Anybody else heard it yet and if so what do you think ?

Re: Good Guitar Solos in Other Bands & Artists
Was gonna say a couple of tracks of Slayer’s Reign In Blood album but thinking of it that whole album in itself is one big freaking solo.
Absolutely neckbreaking stuff , Kerry King The Man !

You can use Casa Cuch for a kip ( I’m abroad anyway ) and it’s only a short flight from the UK.
Should be fairly cheap too if you bring your OAP Card ! ;)

Bouncing Souls in Other Bands & Artists
Title: Bouncing Souls
Anyone been to any of their recent gigs in the UK ?
Going to see them on Saturday but haven’t seen them since they supported Bad Religion ages ago.
Listened to some of their new stuff on the website and looks promising.
