Well I see that old Justin has quit the band because he is a coked up drunk or something… and they carrying on without him and the new bassist will now be the singer??? whats the point!
That news just made my day. Good riddance.
Hope the rest of the band pack it in altogether as well.

Re: Worst CD you wish you still owned in Other Bands & Artists
Saturation from Urge Overkill got stolen from me a while ago and so far I haven’t found any record store that had it on sale to get it back. Love that album.
Only consolation is that it was probably one of the PuffDiddyDaddyfeaturingMissThisandThatty R&B loving Kiss Channel loving spotty streetkids in my area that stole it and I would just love to see his face when he listens to what he stole :D

I’ll get me coat…

Re: Extreme Noise Terror v KLF - Brit Awards in Other Bands & Artists
The two fine gentlemen that were the KLF even left a dead sheep on the steps at the after show party later that night.
They also famously burned 1 million pound of their own money in a field in Scotland as an artistic statement.
Guitarist Jimmy Cauty is currently spinning records in the Spiegeltent at the Fringe Festival in Dublin as part of the Transit Kings ( with Alex & Dom from The Orb and Guy Pratt of Pink Floyd ).
And isn’t Bill Drummond writing books about the music business these days ?

Re: Alkaline Trio in Other Bands & Artists
Earlier this year they were pretty good at their gig in the Ambassador in Dublin. Very young crowd though , so not only did I feel very old but the fact the place didn’t serve alcohol made it even worse.
One thing I remember though is that their support band was the worst I have seen EVER.

Re: Motorhead in Other Bands & Artists
Might get some earplugs as well for their gig in Dublin with Therapy?
As the gig is now moved to the smaller Olympia , the sound will be even more overwhelming.
On another note , have a fashion dilemma for that night since yesterday.
Was always gonna wear the Therapy? shirt but the missus now brought me a Motorhead shirt back from Portugal…
Gonna be a striptease/shirt-change halfway down probably.

Re: Thrash Metal in Other Bands & Artists
Hell yeah , now we’re talking bands !!!
Still have my original vinyls of most of the bands mentioned above. Onslaught’s “Flame of the Anti-Christ” is legendary , I played that record a zillion times.
One that hasn’t been mentioned yet but HAS to be included in this thread : D.R.I.
Used to wear this shirt day and night :

If you still wanna check out Agresion , Erik , pick their gig on 18 November on Metal-Core in lovely Hoek.
It’s been organised by yours truly here , so freebies should be no problem ( tickets , drinks , the like ) ;)

Agresión in Other Bands & Artists
Title: Agresión
Venezuelan/Dutch metalband Agresión is calling it a day and will start their farewell tour in October.
Some members will restart as Cultura Tres after the split.
Great band imo and the fact they played support for the likes of Sepultura and Dreadlock Pussy is purely on merit.
Any Wombles seen them before and what do you think ?

Re: Syd Barrett is dead! in Other Bands & Artists
Heard it yesterday , always sad to see one of the great ones go.
Think he was always gonna drift out of the music scene as the pressure of fame seemed too much to him.
His drug intake probably acted as a catalyst too.
Oviously he was still loved by the band , with Waters dedicating songs to him ( as recently as Live 8 ).
In the words of the song written for him alone : SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND.

Re: graspop festival in Other Bands & Artists
Sure you didn’t copy the line-up of 1975 by mistake ?
Jeez , some old-timers in there!
Now I’m as old-school as the next man , but I wouldn’t mind cancelling MSG , Whitesnake , Y&T and Saxon.
For old time sake , Exodus can stay , on the one condition that they play Strike of the Beast! Twice.
As for Guns ‘n Roses , where’s the smilie with the boggling mind when you need it ?
Backfire! for the hardcore-tent !

Alkaline Trio were pretty good in Dublin , but again their support band that night , The Zico Chain , were absolute muck.
How one can use the name of one of the world’s most skillfull and stylish footballers ever and then perform like an Austrian alleycat on birdflu is way , way beyond me.

Both on drugs.
Virenque also betrayed his whole team but would still qualify as an artist in some way.
Biggest artist of all time I haven’t seen mentioned yet : Johan van der Velde.
Aa a young one , always wanted to be either him or Henk Lubberdink ( because of the long hair and cut off sleeves ) when having bmx races around the block with my school friends.

Or maybe better , visit after I die ;)

Oi , The Clash are great ! Grew up listening to them ( showing my age here ).
My personal favos would include some really early ones like ‘Rockers Galore’.
Not to be missed are also their more well-kwon albums like ‘From Here To Eternity’ and ‘Sandinista’.
Joe Strummer LEGEND !
