Re: Air Guitar World Championships : and the winner is… in Chit-Chat
As I couldn’t move fingers quick enough to airguitar some Kerry King solos I even , in a desperate attempt , have started attaching imaginary plectrums to imaginary kitchen utensils such as the imaginary hand blender.
Works great as long as nobody walks in !

Five matches unbeaten , clean sheet for over 400 minutes and next weekend the big derby. Bring on the Bohs !

Air Guitar World Championships : and the winner is… in Chit-Chat
Title: Air Guitar World Championships : and the winner is…
Congratulations to Dutchman Michael ‘Destroyer’ Heffels from Roermond who won the 10th Official World Championships of AirGuitar in Finland last Friday with his Daft Punk-act! He walks away with the title and the Flying Finn , a plexiglass guitar with a value of 2500.
Taking into account that the number 3 Gyuri ‘Pelvis Fenderbender’ Vergouw and the mum of the dude that ended in second place are also from Holland I think it is obvious to say they are one hell of a nation of air guitar players.
Time I start practising again :D

Re: what was the last gig you went to? in Chit-Chat
The Pixies in Dublin last night , from the pit.
Absolutely great show , but maybe I’m a bit biased when it comes to them as I’ve been a fan since the early days ( showing my age here… )

Re: Scary shit in Chit-Chat
As for some different kind of scary shit , last week I came eye to eye with a burglar breaking into my apartment.
At 10am knocking on the door but I didn’t open as I expected an inspector for the tv licence ( which I obviously don’t have ).
Next thing I know someone’s messing with the locks and the door opens and some dodgy junk tries to make his way in.
Dunno who was more scared when that door opened but the fecker did a runner as soon as he spotted me at the other side of the door , wine bottle in hand ready to whack him.
The fact that I was still in my underwear probably also helped…
Only funny thing was at the garda station going through the photo book to recognise the face. Didn’t spot the burglar but came across some other familiar faces :)

Yeah yeah , I know we’re not the cheapest but if you need any quotes just gimme a shout and I’m sure we’ll throw in a special WOM discount.
Anything to kick Dell out of the door ;)

Turbonegro play support for Iron Maiden and Marilyn Manson in Dublin. Out of the three , they’re the only ones that I’m looking forward to see live again.

Re: Monday Morning at work in Chit-Chat
Out drinking all weekend and spent the Sunday out in the lovely bay resort that is Bray to see my favo team play. Luckily a win and we drank the whole town dry consequently.
Unfortunately the whole country here has a bank holiday weekend and I’m the only one in at work. It’s bad having a hangover but having to go to work without any public transport and no car is even worse.
Thank God I’ve a bottle of Buckfast waiting for me to get home !

Re: Stage dive gone wrong in Leeds in Chit-Chat
Ouch.
Reminds me of a stage dive horribly gone wrong at a Dark Angel gig in the old Noorderligt venue in Tilburg years ago. One dude landing on his lower back and transported to hospital with a torn kidney.
My mum still can’t sleep when she knows I’m at a gig :D

Re: Renting properties in Chit-Chat
Dunno if there’s anything in your contract about a notice period , hoocha.
But even if there’s not I think it’s a standard 2 months notice period for a landlord to give to you and 1 month for a tennant to give the landlord.
I do stand to be corrected on this but I’m in the same boat as you when it comes to renting and I remember something being told to me by the building manager.

Thanks to a couple of Wombles to keep me updated on T? at Werchter and for reminding me I wasn’t there and you were.
Got my rock fix instead with a gig by Still Life in The Vaults in Dublin.
To my big disappointment I just missed a support band doing a very good cover of Screamager and was told so by about anyone that I knew

Re: richard whiteley (countdown) RIP in Chit-Chat
What about that infamous moment when both contestants came up with the word “wankers” from Carol’s assorted letters, with the second contestant smilingly declaring when asked what word he got “a pair of wankers, Richard”. Amazingly they showed it and, needless to say, C4 recieved a record number of complaints!

Re: Good Films in Chit-Chat
Saw ‘Basic’ on dvd the other night and it was pretty good imo.
Might go and see Mr.& Mrs.Smith this weekend with the missus. Some colleagues say it’s okay but I suspect they just enjoyed watching La Jolie.
