Re: Social Distortion in Other Bands & Artists
Just to bump this up…
Social D coming to Dublin in August , Academy on the 21st , ticket sales start this Friday on ticketmaster.
Very excited about this , last time I saw any SD related gig was in the Mike Ness solo days.
Anyone else up for this ?

Re: Whats the next gig you want to go to? in Chit-Chat
Backtrack , a NYHC band , playing on Thursday.
Should be good if you name your band after a Killing Time song. :)
Been told we should be in for a rough night slamwise , so maybe a good time to dust off the ole army boots and go for it.

Re: T-shirts more expensive than a CD?!?! in General Therapy? Topics
Why is anyone surprised ?
I went to the shopping centre yesterday and hey presto , the t-shirt I bought in there was more expensive than the CD I got in HMV as well.
If we’re gonna start topics here about the bleeding obvious this site better move onto a bigger server.

RIP Barney McKenna , banjo/mandolin player and last remaining original member of The Dubliners and a bit of a hero of mine.
RIP ‘Father of Loud’ Jim Marshall , founder of the Marshall company. Sure he’s turning up the volume up there now.

Yeah, the Vicar Street Troublegum gig in 2010 was pretty full downstairs, but the upstairs was closed off. Lots of people there to hear Troublegum and other oldies. I think the Academy gig in 2009 was more representative of their genuine crowd, and I think the upcoming gig should’ve been booked there. Also, this time there’s a Cork gig the night after so lots of people from the south will just go to that instead.
Hope I’m wrong but I fear for the Dublin show…
Vicar St upstairs wasn’t closed off for the Troublegum show. It was actually rather busy up there and I should know as I spent the whole gig there. VIP deck , ya know. ;)
I’m pretty much up to speed on the ticket sales for the upcoming show there ( there are perks to knowing the bloke organising the thing ) and there is absolutely no need to worry.
Ticket sales were very good for the original date and even more sold in the meantime so should be close to a full house come 9th of May.

Was going to say Glen Ballard for Jagged Little Pill until you mentioned an unusual country
Robert ‘Mutt’ Lange indeed , producer of AC/DC’s Highway To Hell and then notoriously married Shania Twain and produced her Come On Over ( most selling album by female artist ).
As for the football question : he wrote the song Ipswich Ipswich Get That Goal for the 1978 FA Cup Final. Ipswich beat Arsenal 1-0 that year ( Roger Osborne goal )

Re: Setlist 2012 / Berlin 28.3.12 in Therapy? Live
So the band is changing around the setlist a bit. No big deal , be glad there is some variety.
This place is quickly turning into a bunch of auld ones moaning about everything.

Seeing as football has to be involved too - for more bonus points : what’s his connection to the FA Cup Final ?

Who produced the best selling studio album by a female artist ever ?
For a bonus point in which unusual country was he born ?

Hope you have a speedy recovery Dave.
Can second what Chris says that gigs just aren’t the same without you present.
All the best.

Re: What’s EveryOne Listening To in Other Bands & Artists
Been youtubing a bit today at work , just had Grace Potter ( of Nocturnals fame ) on doing a cover of Neil Young’s Cortez the Killer with Joe Satriani on axe doing the solo bits.
Ready for the weekend now after watching that a couple of times.

Re: Vent your spleen! in Chit-Chat
Got tickets this week for both Chris Cornell ( Songbook Tour ) and Lamb of God in Dublin and only noticed now they’re on the same night ( June 13 ).
Seriously thinking of doing half of each set as the venues are only 5 mins apart by taxi.

Re: Dublin Show 10/03/2012 CONFIRMED in Therapy? Live
A good night was had in Dublin yesterday.
Therapy? fans from Germany , Sweden , Finland , Holland and Ireland meeting up and having a drink.
Kinda made me realise what a great bunch of people we actually are and that Therapy? is not just about great music but also a social occasion where you meet up with old friends and other like minded individuals.
Just dropped the Dutchies back to the airport and I’m going back to bed for an hour. :)

Re: Dublin Show 10/03/2012 CONFIRMED in Therapy? Live
On Saturday there’s a Dio tribute band in the Button Factory in Temple Bar , they’re called Stand Up and Shout.
@ Alan , I was actually in The Pint last Friday for a while. Didn’t know they have metal night on Saturdays so I might give it a go with the Dutch lads.
In Whelans on Sat night there’s a good singer/songwriter in Gareth Dunlop , who’s pretty good if you’re more into the mellow kind of things.
On Friday night Scroobius Pip is in town , also in Button Factory.
It’s a spoken word thingy though and he’s without Dan le Sac so I might give that one a miss.
