Re: Translation? in General Therapy? Topics

about the Kent thing, there is a band in Canada called Big Sugar, and they released their last two albums in both English and French, and they both sound good… very cool…

as for the beatles and bowie singing in different languages, are you sure it’s actually them singing??? when i was just in spain i heard tons of english speaking/singing bands on the radio in spanish, and although it kinda sounded like the band, i don’t think it actually was…

Re: best T? video continued… an idea! in General Therapy? Topics

i think right now we are in the preliminary stages of planing a video… Alan seems to have every video except Meat Abstract, 2nd Version of Stories, Rehab (Andy w/ Manchild), and Gimme Back My Brain… problem is is that his collection is in PAL… DOES ANYBODY ELSE HAVE THESE VIDEOS? WHAT FORMAT ARE THEY?

so far the only thing i can think of doing is the following: take the videos that Alan has that I don’t, get him to make a copy for me, then I’ll transfer that to NTSC and put all the videos together… that way I will have all the videos in NTSC format for anyone in North America… For everywhere else my guess is that Alan can make copies for trades/2for1’s…

as for the extra stuff I have on my videos, I could make a copy of it and send it to Alan, and if he wants to get it changed to PAL he can… all this will of course end up costing myself and Alan some money, but we could get people add a couple of bucks to each order so that we can make our money back…

this is the only idea I have in my head right now… i’m not crazy about it, but it could work… DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS ON HOW THIS COULD WORK?

i also like the idea of T? having all their videos on their new site… that way it wouldn’t cost anyone anything and we wouldn’t have a problem with the 2 formats… Rene, can you look into this please???

Re: best T? video continued… an idea! in General Therapy? Topics

after 4 hours of viewing my 2 tapes last night, this is what’s on them:

TAPE 1
- Live in Dublin: St. Patricks Day (96? from MTV europe) 7 songs
- Die Laughing Video
- Teethgrinder Video
- Live @ Mega Music Rock Experience (94?) 2 songs
- Andy and Micheal hosting MTV show and showing their videos, which include: Nowhere, Loose (remix), Stories, Die Laughing, Opal Mantra, Screamager, Loose
- Live @ Brixton Academy (94?) 8 songs

TAPE 2
- Diane Video
- T? on some show (like top of pops, but i don’t think it’s it.. i don’t know, i’m from Canada!!!) (95?) 2 songs
- MTV news clip of Fyfe leaving band
- Live @ Mega Music Rock Experience (94?) 1 song, plus interview with Micheal and Fyfe after… (this is part of the TAPE 1 Mega Music…)
- Teethgrinder video (again)
- Live in Germany ‘94 2 songs Interview after show with Michael and Andy
- Live in MTV studio ‘95 2 songs
- info/interviews with Band sliced in with CUT videos of Isolation, Die Lauging & Nowhere
- Interview with boys at MTV video music awards, followed by their preformance
- Documentery on T? & Belfast called ‘End of the Tunnel’ Show in Dutch (i think) except when Andy being interviewed. Goes into live show @ pinkpop 6 songs interview with Michael after
- MTV interview with Michael and Andy about Infernal Love
- Nausea video
- T? interview on 120minutes, MTV America which includes interview with bands, Screamager video & Opal Mantra live in studio

so that’s what’s on the tapes. NO videos for both Isolations, Meat Abstract, Turn, Trigger Inside, Church of Noise, Lonely Crying, Little Tounges, Bad Karma, or Rehab (Andy w/ Manchild)… seems that if we want to put all the T? videos on one Tape for everyone as I suggested then we’d have to look to Alan as our resource… only problem with that is that he’s videos are in PAL, while mine are in NTSC… also, the quality of my videos are ok, but not great… I’d say B+ or A-, which is still pretty good… the live clips/interviews on my tapes are pretty good, but nothing better then most other live videos, etc.

Re: best T? video continued… an idea! in General Therapy? Topics

also, in order from earlist to latest, what videos do t? have? (including banned and/or 2nd versions)…

Re: best T? video continued… an idea! in General Therapy? Topics

honestly, i haven’t watched them in a while… i’ll do so tonight and tomorrow night and give a full report…

as for making PAL to NTSC copies, i know that video transfering places can do it, but it costs money… i we went that route, then we’d have to think of a way to add that additional cost in…

best T? video continued… an idea! in General Therapy? Topics

Title: best T? video continued… an idea!

before the days of the ‘wall of mouths & teethgrinder.com’ the therapy? mailing list used to have tons of people on it emailing each other everyday… i used to get at least 10 messages a day, now you’re lucky if you see 10 a year (right alexk?)…

anyway, years ago on this mailing list tons of people put there video collections together and we ended up with 2 tapes with a material… interviews, concerts, and videos… i think it had all the videos up to and including infernal love, but it was missing 1 or 2… anyway, one person made all the videos and we sent blank tapes and shipping money to that person to record copies for everyone…

here’s what happened: everyone on the North American format got their copies, but the person who was supposed to make the PAL versions took off with them… yes, for once North American T? fans got something everyone else didn’t, but the person that didn’t make copies took off with everyone’s money as well, so to this day no one got copies besides North American’s (to my knowledge)…

anyway, i still have my copy… i think it would be a really good idea if some one wanted to try to do this again, but adding the new stuff to it as well… problem is that it needs to be some one that:
A. is trustworthy
B. has time to do it
C. knows how to edit
D. can make video copies
E. can make both PAL & NTSC copies

anyway, this would be a HUGE undertaking not only for the person doing the copying, but also the people willing to send in their videos in order to have a complete collection… i think it may be to big to go forward, but i just thought i should throw out the idea anyway, seeing as a lot of people seems to have never seen many of the videos…

Re: the sad truth in General Therapy? Topics

uh, no… it’s called being immature… while you have every right to think the new album sucks, other people have the right to think it rocks… a mature person says ‘well i don’t agree but that’s your opinion’ while and immature persons posts 15 different messages about how the album sucks and anyone that doesn’t think so is fooling themselves… which one are you???

(anyway, time to go home… see ya all monday… be good!)

Re: Original vs Acoustic versions in General Therapy? Topics

the acoustic version of opal mantra is by far my favourite… but i don’t think any of the acoustic tracks are actually better then the original…

but as far as the new recordings go, diane is way better then the original… and the rest are killer as well…

Re: New Single What Next??? in General Therapy? Topics

this one’s for you is the only reasonable choice, i think… maybe dance, if they didn’t have the ‘welcome to fuckland’ line in it, which basically ruins the entire song (maybe some of you like it, but i think it’s entirely stupid)…

as for b-sides i’d like to hear some new stuff… covers, acoustic and live stuff are fun, but there’s not much creativity to it… i want to hear the songs that didn’t make the album…

Re: wouldn’t it be nice to get for Christmas! in General Therapy? Topics

but the question would be: who’s going to put it out? Ark21 can’t seem to pay their bills, never mind promote t? or make a dvd…

for Christmas I’d like to hear that t? drop Ark21 and sign with someone a little more stable… record companys folding have been known for causing bands folding…

Re: what do you think the WORST 3 T? songs are? in General Therapy? Topics

while there are some t? songs i don’t think are that great, i can listen to them no problem, BUT there is only 1 song (that I can think of off the top of my head) that i can’t even get though one listen… i must skip it every time, i hate it that much:

Other People’s Misery

Re: Which is you favourite b-side? in General Therapy? Topics

I’m almost postive the OUR LOVE MUST DIE that everyone is talking about is on the following CD’s:

1. Stories re-issue
2. Fan Club CD
3. Dead Laughing

the Stories re-issue and the Fan Club CD are from the same concert of Dead Laughing… I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure I’m not…

Re: Babyteeth or Pleasure Death? in General Therapy? Topics

without a doubt Babyteeth is better… being in Canada we only had CS as well, and the first half is sooo much better… now that I have both the albums seperate I find I actually listen to just Babyteeth instead of CS, but if I want to listen to pleasure death, I usually just listen to CS all the way through…

Re: Why is Therapy? important for you? in General Therapy? Topics

the fact that every album has it’s own unique sound… i hate it when a band releases an album that sound just like the one before… sure, not all of t?s albums are amazing, but no matter what i feel like listening to, there’s always at least 1 t? album to suit the mood…

Posted on Mon, 15 October 2001 at 11:56

Re: - SHAMELESS - in General Therapy? Topics

i think the new album falls right in the middle of t? releases… better than I.L and SD, but not as good as Troublegum, Nurse, and SP-YF…

but then again, 6 months from now all of us could be singing a different tune… it took me almost 6 months to really appreciate SP-YF…

and I like Body Bag Girl… that with Stalk & Slash and This One’s For You are my top 3 right now…

Re: Terrovison when will it come for T? ?????? in General Therapy? Topics

for some reason i see therapy? being around for a while longer… they’re always talking about their renewed interested in music and rock n roll, and i just can’t see them doing anything else… i could forsee a break-up and then getting back together, but i think they may be around for a while yet… at least, i hope so!!!

lost songs in General Therapy? Topics

Title: lost songs

for all those that haven’t been to Evil Elvis’ site (http://www.suicidepact.com) in a while, i found this info. on lost songs… very interesting…

Bonkified (this became Alrite)

Taxi For Me (this became Body Bag Girl - ‘…though in a very
different form’—Michael McKeegan)

Jimmy Tangas (this became Tango Romeo)

Swine (this became Sister)

Thunder IA (this became Big Cave In)

Holly Hunter’s Hands (this became Six Mile Water)

Titanic (this became Lonely, Cryin’, Only)

More Than Perfect (this became Safe)

Nobody Here But Us (Semi-Detached left over, ‘still floating around in our minds for future user’—Martin McCarrick)

Pride of No-one (Semi-Detached left over?)

Glen Miller (‘There is a demo of it somewhere from the Infernal Love sessions. It’s pretty shite if truth be told. It was just a poppy riff and chorus I was messing about with and the producer, Al Clay, liked it, so we recorded a version of it with the band. It doesn’t really sound like Therapy? and the chorus goes something like, ‘this is the loneliest place in the world’. It’s actually a bit m.o.r.! I haven’t got a version of it myself and if you ever see it, unless you collect absolutely everything, I would suggest giving it a wide berth. It truly is awful.’—Andy Cairns)

Kiss Me On A Ghost Train (played a few times on the Semi-Detached tour, ‘a demo recorded when we were looking for a new deal. It got us a deal, but never made an album’—Martin McCarrick)

Other items that have been mentioned but never materialised were a few promised EPs, a long-form video, and the 30-minute Speed(o) Menace video. Regarding this last one, Martin says: ‘[It] isn’t finished yet and has been put on
