Re: rotten world blues ep in Other Bands & Artists

i saw then in a small club here in toronto… fantastic… about 10mins. after the crowd started leaving they came back out and did a 3rd encore for anyone that stayed… butch came out first and played ‘novicane’ by himself on the drums, with him singing… that was the best show i’ve seen in quite some time…

Re: radiohead new songs in Other Bands & Artists

Title: radiohead still kicks ass

i think radiohead are one of the best bands on the planet… their music is innovative, which is more then i can say for about 99% of the bands out there…

i can’t beleive it… that is very cool! i saw local h a long time ago, they were quite good… my question is though, how much do bands usually get for shows… seems to me that the bid is very high… other bands may want to think about doing this…

ha! no wonder you guys were saying they are over-hyped over there… that’s the silliest thing i’ve ever heard… great album: yes … best rock album in 10 years: not even close!

Re: what other bands/music do you listen to? in Other Bands & Artists

Title: rival schools

well since they haven’t had ANY hype (or promotion) in Canada, i don’t know if i can answer that question… i think the cd is great, but it’s no quicksand…

do i think it’s worth any hype? sure some, but not anymore then other great bands that don’t get it… but if you take away the hype i still think it’s a great rock record… and they’re pretty fantastic live…

Re: Feeder… in Other Bands & Artists

very sad about Zac, especially since EMF has gotten back together and were doing reunion shows and possibly starting a new album…

although they haven’t stated yet how Zac died, I don’t believe it was suicide… i think he has been sick awhile because he missed their last 2 reunion shows last month… http://www.emf-theband.com has all the info.

Re: Feeder… in Other Bands & Artists

ha! Robby, that was cruel, but damn funny!

oh, and the bassist for EMF, Zac Foley, died last week too. Most of you probably don’t care and think they suck, but that’s ok, i still think they rock!

Re: The Tea Party!!! in Other Bands & Artists

ha… actually i don’t listen to the radio that much because of this (for all bands)… but when i do turn it on, 9 times out of 10 i’ll hear the tea party within the hour… (or creed, or nickelback, or whatever crap is popular at the moment…)

Posted on Mon, 3 December 2001 at 15:48

Re: The Tea Party!!! in Other Bands & Artists

as Brendon says, it is nice to hear that a Canadian band is doing so well elsewhere, as most don’t make it out of the country (except Barenaked Ladies & Alanis Morissette for some reason)

i know you’re all going to kill me for saying this though, but for myself personally, I’m not the biggest fan of the Tea Party… I think their music is good, and very original, but I hear them on the radio about 3 times a day, everyday, so it gets kind of tiresome… i believe i own only 3 of their cd’s (1 being the greatest hits, so it doesn’t count so much)… if i didn’t hear them everyday for the 5 or so years i’d most likely like them much more…

i’ve seen them… advise: bring ear plugs!!!

i never wear ear plugs, but i did for that show!

Re: The Tea Party: new cd is fabulous! in Other Bands & Artists

wow, you’re into more Canadian bands then I’m into… I’m very impressed… how did you get into all of them?

yes, labatt is very good, and i like moosehead as well… canadian doesn’t do it for me though…

as for canadian women, i don’t think there is much of a difference… you just have a larger ‘talent’ pool to draw from… but per capita i’d think it’s about the same…

as for Degrassi, that show rocked… but yes, most Canadian television is pretty bad, but there are a few gems in there…

and yes i do silly-walk!!!

Re: The Tea Party: new cd is fabulous! in Other Bands & Artists

we tried to not let her out, but she escaped to the US and buddied up with Madonna and Kevin Smith (Kevin, what are you thinking)…

If you think Alanis is bad now, you should have heard her pop stuff ten years ago… oh, the horror…

Re: The Tea Party: new cd is fabulous! in Other Bands & Artists

born in a crash was an import, so of course it’s more expensive… but anything that’s domestic is usually cheaper then anywhere else… i’ve seen BranVan 3000 for $14 many times, and with the exchange rate that’s about $9… doesn’t get much cheaper then that… usually when i go down to the states the sticker prices on CD’s are the same as up here, but when i do the exchange conversion it’s much more expensive in the US…

i’m glad to hear you like our music though… what CDN bands are you into?

and as for our cigarettes, i can’t comment on that as i don’t smoke (although i’ve heard you are right), but our beer is soooooo much better then American beer… US beer is like making love in a canoe: fucking close to water.

Re: The Tea Party: new cd is fabulous! in Other Bands & Artists

hey, what’s wrong with ordering it in Canada??? :)

considering we have some of the cheapest CD prices in the world, it shouldn’t be a problem… (except for the shipping i guess)

souljacker by EELS in Other Bands & Artists

Title: souljacker by EELS

i seem to remember many of the people on this board like EELS…
what do ya think of the new album?

when it first came out they were saying it was all ‘hard’ and everything, and while it’s a bit edgy-er then previous stuff, i wouldn’t say it’s ‘hard’…

teenage witch, bus stop boxer & women driving, man sleeping are standouts for me at the moment… the later being the best…
