right now there are 11 of us joined up. not bad!

Opal Mantra, you haven’t made all your picks yet, so make sure you login and do that before it all starts! Also, there are a few of you that haven’t made you Tiebreaker picks…

Re: Share your hangover with us topic! in Chit-Chat

Title: Zaphod Beeblebrox

both are true… i’ve had tons of fun without booze, but too many times been drunk and had an awful time (which usually leads to more drinking)

since my hangover stories are generally the same (headache, sometimes barfing, etc.) i’ll share my best drunk story (short version):

went drinking in Ottawa (Canada’s capital) on a pub crawl… at the third bar we stopped at they had $1 mixed drinks (about 0.70€), so i had 12 in one hour… at the fifth bar (zaphod’s) i was so drunk i hung over the balcony and puked… and just as i did a server on the level below caught my puke in his tray… needless to say i was escorted out…

Title: Requiem for a Dream

Che Guevara wrote:

you HAVE to see Requiem for a Dream.

Requiem for a Dream is, without a doubt, my favourite movie of all time… (not counting Ferris Bueller’s Day Off)

Che Guevara wrote:

im more concerned with recommending the soundtrack, by Clint Mansell (mainly), i think he worked with NIN.

soundtrack is great… Clint Mansell was the lead singer for Pop Will Eat Itself… he also worked on the soundtrack for Pi, which is Darren Aronofsky’s first movie… Aronofsky’s his follow-up to Requiem is going to be Batman: Year One, in which it is set twenty years before the original Batman, depicting his origins…

i believe Canada has only been in the world cup once, and we didn’t even score a goal, so i don’t think you have as much to complain about…

but then again i’m used to it by now, so i still feel for you!

world cup pool, for teethgrinder.com folks in Chit-Chat

Title: world cup pool, for teethgrinder.com folks

since we all love therapy?, and most of us love world cup, i figure we will therefore be talking about it over the next 2 months on this board… so i thought it would be fun for all of us (that want to) to start a world cup pool, to see who, out of all us therapy? fans, can boast as being the most knowledgeable about football/soccer…

the pool works as follows:
#1: you must pick the winner (or a draw) for each game… that’s it!

#2: the pool is run through yahoo, so if you have a yahoo id go to step 3… if you don’t have a yahoo id, use this link: http://edit.yahoo.com/config/eval_register?.src=spt&new=1& … from=LOGIN

#3: once you have an id, go to this link: http://games.fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/p and click the “join a private group” link
Group ID is: 17108
Group Password is: therapy

#4 IMPORTANT: you should name your team the same name that you use on this board, so that way we know who is who…

#5: make your picks for each group in the world cup… you can keep changing your picks up until the world cup starts… after the first round we’ll have to make picks from the remaining teams…

#6: sit back and watch the kid from Canada (that being me) kick all yours asses!!! :)
seriously though, this should be fun… i hope many of you join!

good luck!!! (you’re going to need it!)

Bush’s Axis of Evil… funny! in Chit-Chat

Title: Bush’s Axis of Evil… funny!

ANGERED BY SNUBBING, LIBYA, CHINA, SYRIA FORM AXIS OF JUST AS EVIL
Cuba, Sudan, Serbia Form Axis of Somewhat Evil; Other Nations Start Own Clubs

Bitter after being snubbed for membership in the ‘Axis of Evil,’ Libya, China, and Syria today announced they had formed the ‘Axis of Just as Evil,’ which they said would be way eviler than the Iran-Iraq-North Korea axis President Bush warned of his State of the Union address.
Axis of Evil members, however, immediately dismissed the new axis as having, for starters, a really dumb name. ‘Right. They are Just as
Evil… in their dreams!’ declared North Korean leader Kim Jong-il. ‘Everybody knows we’re the best evils… best at being evil… we’re the best.’
Diplomats from Syria denied they were jealous over being excluded,
although they conceded they did ask if they could join the Axis of Evil. ‘They told us it was full,’ said Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. ‘An Axis can’t have more than three countries,’ explained Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.
‘This is not my rule, it’s tradition. In World War II you had Germany, Italy, and Japan in the evil Axis. So you can only have three. And a secret handshake. Ours is wicked cool.’

THE AXIS PANDEMIC

International reaction to Bush’s Axis of Evil declaration was swift, as within minutes, France surrendered. Elsewhere, peer-conscious nations rushed to gain triumvirate status in what became a game of geopolitical chairs. Cuba, Sudan, and Serbia said they had formed the Axis of Somewhat Evil, forcing Somalia to join with Uganda and Myanmar in the Axis of Occasionally Evil, while Bulgaria, Indonesia and Russia established the Axis of Not So Much Evil Really As Just Generally Disagreeable.
With the criteria suddenly expanded and all the desirable clubs filling up, Sierra Leone, El Salvador, and Rwanda applied to be called the Axis of Countries That Aren’t the Worst But Certainly Won’t Be Asked to Host the Olympics; Canada, Mexico, and Australia formed the Axis of Nations That Are Actually Quite Nice But Secretly Have Nasty Thoughts About America, while Spain, Scotland, and New Zealand established the Axis of Countries That Be Allowed to Ask Sheep to Wear Lipstick. ‘That’s not a threat, really, just something we like to do,’ said Scottish Executive First Minister Jack McConnell.
While wondering if the other nations of the world weren’t perhaps making fun of him, a cautious Bush granted approval for most axes, although he rejected the establishment of the Axis of Countries Whose Names End in ‘Guay,’ accusing one of its members of filing a false application. Officials from Paraguay, Uruguay, and Chadguay denied the charges. Israel, meanwhile, insisted it didn’t want to join any Axis, but privately, world leaders said that’s only because no one asked them.

Re: looking for the following CD… in Chit-Chat

anyone else know where i can get this cd for cheaper then $20US?

Re: Top 5 films in Chit-Chat

innocentx is right… american history x was an amazing, thought provoking movie… as was saving private ryan…

does it what where a movie was made or who made it? or does it matter if the movie is good? sure there are some directors i follow (Neil LaBute, Tom Tykwer, etc.) but even they can make bad movies, and even bad directors can make good movie… why? because it’s the movie that’s important, not where it’s from or who made it…

and yes, movies, like music, are a personal opinion… and to say you don’t like american history x or saving private ryan is up to you… saying they are cheese fests on the other hand is factually incorrect (especially since you have ‘life is beautiful’ on your list’)…

my top 5 are:
ferris bullers day off

gattaca

but with ‘lord of the rings’ coming out in a month, that could change…

Re: Best records of the year ? in Chit-Chat

you thought that because he went in hiding for 3 years… after his last disc (the closer i get) didn’t do so well, and because he was never really happy with it in the first place (record company pressure) he decided to lay low, record in his basement again, and go with hardly any promotion with the new disc… it is truly is great… gets better with every listen…

if and when you pick it up, tell me… there is an amazing hidden song on the disc that i can help you find…
