Nowadays it wasn´t a surprise if he uses one of these digital AMP- and/or effectsimulator-processor boxes like LINE 6 or something like that.
He gets the sound directly into the PA and uses the amps on stage as git- monitors… or may be he mixes it up to produce a little dirt to the digital sound.
but in general it is not necessary to produce extra dirt to a live-gig. I was playing along with a POD and I produced some flanging sounds similiar to them that are to hear on the crooked Timber release. …but in fact I don`t no.
