Re: A Brief CracK Of Light in General Therapy? Topics

Yes! I got the ABCOL vinyl today and also the white sleeve CT vinyl edition.

Once again, it’s a great album!

Just some random ratings I wrote down for each track. This could change any time, but after a lot of listens I would rate the songs as below. I think this is one of T?’s strongest albums in year. I really wasn’t as generous for CT and especially not for OCFA. This one really has some strong material, good songs and I like the new direction they’ve taken.

Living In The Shadow Of The Terrible Thing 3,5/5
Plague Bell 3,5/5
Marlow 2,5/5
Before You, With You, After You 4,5/5
The Buzzing 4/5
Get Your Dead Hand Off My Shoulder 4/5
Ghost Trio 4/5
Why Turbulence? 4/5
Stark Raving Sane 3/5
Ecclesiastes 3,5/5

Yeah I think Ghost Trio is one of the better tracks as well. Marlow is okay, but I don’t think it really fits in with the rest of the album. The last track is kinda weird for T?, but I dig it. Overall I like how the band tried some different things without going totally overboard or turn to arena rock. I like it how the album invites me for repeated listens. I haven’t had that in a long time with a Therapy? album.

It’s not on my Spotify (Premium) either (only the single). Still, I have the album and I must say it’s pretty good. I’ve listened to it about three or four times. “Before You, With You, After You” is one of my current favorites. “The Buzzing” is pretty cool as well. The band indeed seems to include some dub effects/influences and on The Buzzing it’s most prominent. It’s maybe a bit similar to the band Dub Trio. These guys combine rock/metal with dub, which is pretty noisy. So far my impression is pretty good. The albums is heading towards better than Crooked Timber and it is already better than One Cure Fits All (but that’s one of my least favourite T? albums). We’ll see how well it will grow on me in the coming days.
