Re: The Lisbon Treaty in Chit-Chat
I think if the Irish people are asked to vote again on basically the same thing then the No vote will win by even more

Re: fantasy euro 2008 in Chit-Chat
My major downfall recently was having Ronaldo as captain when Portugal had already qualified… he didn’t even play :’-(
Bet I wasn’t the only one

Re: The Lisbon Treaty in Chit-Chat
I think it was a great result. Especially as all the main parties were trying to bully people into voting “yes” when some of them haven’t even read the thing

^Hmm. I didn’t know Smog was in the soundtrack to that movie. I went to see Bill Callahan last year, it was a great show

Re: Turning the Significant Other into a T? Fan in Chit-Chat
My fiancée (feels weird typing that!) saw Therapy? in Glasgow Barrowlands on the Shameless tour (before I knew her)… but I made her a mix CD last year and she never listened to it. Gah!
She’s yet to experience my metamorphisis into a complete gibbering rock nerd when Therapy? are playing in town either :-)

Re: fantasy euro 2008 in Chit-Chat
I got a replica Italy home top in Dublin on Saturday to get me in tournament mood… always had a slight leaning towards the Italians as well.
Made 2 transfers there, they don’t cost any points do they?

Re: fantasy euro 2008 in Chit-Chat
^As an accumulator I had Germany and Croatia to win yesterday and France to win tonight with Italy and Holland being a draw, so I hope you’re wrong :-)
Right, I’ll have a look at these transfers now then…

the transfers dont kick in until the knockout stage.
the number of players from each team goes up each round and the budget is 110 instead of 100
for the final your even allowed to have all 12 players from the one team
I was wondering how that was going to work - that sounds like a good idea they have. I’m fairly content so far - biggest downside is that my czech and croat players didn’t get on :-/ I had a fiver on Germany to win 2-0 last night though :-)

Re: fantasy euro 2008 in Chit-Chat
Well, I was surprised Dusty that one of the little stats that flashed up on the site said that only 50% of players have picked Ronaldo so you’re far from alone.
Not having him as captain for the domestic league this year was madness though. For example, I think it was Graeme on this site who didn’t make a single transfer all season but still finished 3rd or 4th cos he had him as captain the whole time

I stuck a tenner on Croatia to win it (12-1) and a fiver on Klose to be top scorer (8-1)

Re: Lost… in Chit-Chat
I’m willing to reserve final judgement on this until the last episode has aired. As I said in the original Lost thread, originally I only caught the odd episode, but I tended to enjoy it. It was only about 6 months ago that I became a “serious” fan – watched seasons one and two in full in a matter of days on Virgin On Demand, then watched Season 3 via LOVEfilm.
I have to say I enjoyed this show the most when they were just a bunch of plane crash survivors all trying to get off an island… it’s got a lot more diffuse than that now. Maybe it’s just because I have to wait a week between each episode nowadays.
I think the writers would have had the basic story mapped out from the start, but they would obviously make alterations as they go. For example, the writers admitted on Sky One on Sunday that they had a contingency plan for Ben – if he wasn’t a great actor, or viewers didn’t respond well to him, then they’d bump him off. Also, they got rid of Anna Lucia, Mr Echo, and other characters because the actors who played them got into trouble with authorities on location in Hawaii (mainly for drink driving). I think Jin was “bumped off” for the same reason. That means the writers couldn’t entirely have the plot written beforehand. But If you want to see how much thought goes into network TV episodes in the USA, read the blog below:
