Messiah - for once I can totally see where you’re coming from now. But I can’t say I’m passionately for or against Napster. Maybe I should be but because I’m not directly affected by it (yet) I don’t care, and in about 10 years we’ll be pissed off we let it carry on.

What did you buy? The album or the EP? I have to say I don’t like the album THAT much but the EP kicks ass indeed.

The reason I ‘played dumb’ was because I realised that I don’t really care enough about Napster shutting down (and last I heard it wasn’t) to argue.

I never said an artist shouldn’t get paid for their work (at least I hope I didn’t) what i was attacking was your comment ‘People won’t make music because they won’t get paid’ which is the biggest pile of bull shit I ever heard… if money is the motive for songwriters to make music then we’re all fucked. OK, I agree with Brendon that Napster being shut down wont exactly be the down point of my life (or probably my day), the novelty of it was beginning to wear off anyway. And i dont want Lars Ulrich smashing my hard drive!

I cant believe you wrote that man!!! Did T? release babyteeth when Andy was working in a tyre factory for the money? No! It was because they love their music and creating it! Maybe Napster would have seen the downfall of corporate acts like N Sync and such ilk, and the rise of ‘real’ music that people would be willing to pay for, but now we’ll never know :-(

And as for me being a parasite, I agree that there has to be some self - policing. Its not like i have a huge library, its ony about 10 songs. Maybe there should have been a law passed saying songs from official releases could not be downloaded, so I could still download ‘bambi kill’ by Nirvana (which i just did) for example.

Also can’t Napster just be set up in another country other than the good ol’ USA? Thats what happened with OLGA, mirror sites will hopefully be set up

Well, the only songs I ever download are rare ones that T? wouldnt make any money out of anyway as you can really only get them second hand at CD fairs and shit, so who are you to say Im not a T? fan?

Or have I missed the point and you were talking about something else?

Speaking of rare songs, I remember someone saying Vicar in a Tutu should have been on T?’s retrospective album. I just downloaded it off napster and it kicks ass!
