Each tool album got worse in chronological order,

Opiate was AMAZING even though it was only an EP and a third was live, i love every song on the album (and if anyone wants the ultra rare studio versions of the live versions, il sort if for you ;)).

Undertow was fucking great, every song up to 4 degrees had me hooked, but flood was boring shit, and the last track would have been funny if it wasnt for the nearly 10 minutes of buzzing. Highlights of this album are definately prison sex and swamp song.

AEnema is where it all went wrong, when tool went progressive.
This was great for the few particularly good songs like Stinkfist and Hooker, which meant you get the good songs for longer, but when you get to the shit like pushit, where its not good enough to hold your attention, there arelong stretches of repetitive music withut evn any vocals to add variety and the song doesnt mean anything to you, the album gets really boring, and don’t get me started on trcks like (-) ions. What dinosaur dump that was.

Laterlus gets worse, with only 5 song that i liked, one being ironically around on minute long, Eon blue, and one song being 2 split up, Tool should have just given up here.

Even though its not a real album, how shit was Salival. I just downloaded tis one, its not worth buying.

10,000 days is the worse peice of shit such a potentialy great band has ever produced, with only one good track out of 11, the pot. not even worth a listen.

Early tool fucking rocks, the later stuff blows. That is my oppinion anyway.

As a Limp Bizkit fan, all your opinions are obsolete. :o.

It’s Corgan’s last roll of the dice,Zwan were awful and his solo album was a commercial failure.I like most of the Pumpkins albums and i’d interested in hearing new songs by them whatever the line up is.

I liked the Zwan album and The FutureEmbrace sounded good too.

i was talking about tool, about opiate (kinda shity) the progession showed in undertow and the three masterpieces: aenima, lateralus and 10,000 days (amazing by the way), i can’t find any embarassing moments in those..

I know its 77 minutes but there’s really only 7 new songs on 10,000 Days.

1.vicarious
2.Jambi
3.Wings Part 1 & 2
4.The Pot ( fantastic song )
5.Lost Keys & Rosetta Stoned
6.Intension
7.Right in Two.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how these guitarists pick that fast continuously. But wait what about the drummers? Their legs must be shattered after a live show. But you know what, so they can play fast, but their tunes that Ive heard suck anyways. I like that Nymphetamine song by Cradle of Filth, if the rest of Black Metal is as cool as that then fair game to those guys. But I realy dont follow the scenes of death and black too much I find them trying too hard to piss people off and not focusing enough on writing decent music. They need some therapy?!

its all in the wrist - its not actually that hard to pick that fast for a long time.

:o I feel i know what reply this post will get. Oh Well.

I know most people will have no interest in these guys, but I went to see them last night in “An Cruiscin Lan” in Cork. Now I wouldn’t be the biggest fan of the band, but it was well worth checking out.

It was a really good gig. The main support band, PROSTITUTION DISFIGUREMENT, were a bit predictable. But OK to watch.
There was a local opening band, CAPTAIN INSANO. They were really good. Looking forward to getting their demo CD.

CANNIBAL CORPSE were in a completely different league though. As soon as they came out the place went nuts for them.
Fair enough! Most of their songs are pretty much the same. But fuck me can they play their instruments well. Some of the fastest playing I’ve ever seen.

Some quality ttles too : :D

1.Meat Hook Sodomy
2.Fucked with a knife
3.Skull full of maggots.

Genius.

What song lasts 18 minutes? Are you sure you have the right version man? There’s a few duds out there… maybe I have the dud :s

I agree with you that it does sound more like Aenima than Lateralus (which goes against the rumours beforehand) for which I’m happy!

Wings parts 1 and 2 add up to 18 minutes.

Athlete in Other Bands & Artists

Title: Athlete

Re: Tool in Other Bands & Artists

Tool - 10,000 Days.

Spinning it now actually.

:o First Impressions :

1.Lots of riffs and sounds from other tool albums.

2.More like Aenima than Lateralus.

3.One Song pushes 18 minutes.

4.Not as commercial as Vicarious.

5.Less emphasis on the drums on this one.

Probably not worth the 5 years wait, it seems like a continuation of Aenima - doesnt really break new ground unfortunately.

matthew wrote:

I think Lateralus is pretentious garbage. The riffs on there are lousy and even thoug they are lousy Adam Jones repeats them each like a thousand times in the songs. What is the point. Just beause a song is long doesnt make it better. If you like Lateralus then perhaps you should listen to prog rock bands that do prog with better construction.
Aenima is where it’s at, great melodies, plenty of good drumming that is not self absorbed and good melodies too. Good emotion from maynard too!

Stinkfist and The Grudge are amazing

From Frizzle Fry through to Pork Soda it was cool and a breath of fresh air but they, for me,started going downhill with Tales From The Punchbowl and then “Herb” bailed and then “Brain” came along and is a cool drummer, but I never regained interest.Just recently started listening to some of the older stuff again.Anti-Pop was just a terrible album all around.Seems like they had no ideas and got all these different people to produce the songs cuz of no inspiration whatsoever.

Brown Album would be good if it had decent production. It’s basically their St. Anger.

i´ve seen all the primus dvd stuff available so far. at last i am going to see the drummer dvd tim alexander “herb” did, in the near future.

in “animals …” they are their own support band. playing some fav tunes and after that they play the whole song list from the “frizzle fry” album. just nice!

Primus is one of these bands (perhaps the only one?), that just defines their own type of music, just by playing it.

Hope they get back to europe, at least austria :) But Les just tours with his solo stuff and other projects in america. :(

:o That would be the ” Hallucino-Genetics ” Live DVD.
