Re: sg owners unite! in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
Yes its The Ibanez Arc 300 - I originally went in to buy the Double Cut away Trans Emerald finish but then i Spotted that beauty and luckily :
1.) It was £40 cheaper
2.) It’s better looking
3.) It sounds better
I am very happy with it. Especially since the floyd Rose bridge means i can tune micro tune but still drop d with the machine heads if i want :)
Say no to locked nuts !
All in all - very nice. First thing I did was put 11 guage strings on it. Might put some Les paul machine heads on eventually - the ” tulip ” style ones - as Im a sucker for those - And eventually some actual gibson les paul pickups :D

I first heard Blood and Thunder in 2004 , heard Leviathan and was hooked instantly !!! :D
I think they piss on bands like Trivium Bullet For my Valentine et al so much its not even funny.
Blood Mountain is absolutely awesome.
All 4 of their cd’s are pretty damn good. http://www.youtube.com - check out ” mother puncher ” from full force festival - STONKING

Bet You Cant :p

Now THAT is a great riff! The bass line to Die in the Summertime is amazing too
OK you’re all going to think this is sad but i went to a panto last night and the bassist there was AMAZING! right on cue he was playing all kinds of short segments of music, playing loads of different styles and feels in one song! It was genius, AND he was using effects. i might even go and see it again just for him!
He’s behind you! etc
:D sounds like you’re behind him !!!

No mention that it has to be Therapy? here is there?
I love the bassline to Starlight by Muse - coupled with the piano hook, I’m amazed it wasn’t the biggest hit of the Autumn and didn’t catapult Muse to Coldplay-esque proportions of popularity.
Probably for the best though eh?
It was a bit With or Without you. Hysteria is the one !!!

Re: Evil Elvis and… ahem… alternative tunings? in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
Title: I, Brandon.
I have a Brandoni Hotrail Telecaster.
Natural Finish, Gold hardware, push pull pot for selecting humbucker or single coil.
If you dont know Brandoni, they supply you with all the parts of a guitar for really cheap and you assemble it yourself, that includes drilling the screw holes, treating the wood and wiring up the pickups ( etc )…
I got a Les Paul too which, apart from having a bolt on neck, is pretty awesome i must say…I have played it through a Marshall stack and it sounds great. When my dad put it together, I took it to a professional guitar tech to finish it off, do the action and truss rod and what have you . Anyway he said it was so good, it was virtually a gibson les paul…

Oh and I use Ernie Ball Regular slinky.
I also have an epiphone supernova in vintage sunburst whcih is also really nice. great sound.

Its too easy to play and its so common in tablature listings, and to many a nu-mental band that… don’t take this to harsh… I’m not so keen on.
I like Drop D where you play the whole chord, creating like an add9 chord..i dont really like drop d for the sake of it…Could you imagine trying to play stalk and slsh without dropping the D.. And that riff on Slither by Velvet Revolver would not sound as good in EADGBE ;)
True every nu-metal band on earth use it, but they are shite guitarists who never solo and the less said about Nu-Metal the better.
The St. Anger riff would not be the same in standard tuning either.
Anyway, how do you feel about semitone down tuning ?
EbAbDbF#BbEb ? :p
I use that when playing along to green day albums.

Re: Kits of the World in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
Title: A picture of a KIT very similar to mine indeed
I found this picture on the internet and its so much like my kit it may as well be. I have a white Tama Rockstar 4 piece with the ride over the bass drum where the 13” tom should be. I have a 18” crash just above that and a china to the right of that.
On the other side i have my double bass pedal my hi hats and my 16” crash just over the Tom. I also have an upside down 10” splash on my ride for trashy ride moments ;)
I only have one floor tom right now but i hope to get another soon !!
(Before changing the message boards’ software in August 2007 this post had a file attachment, which may return in the future)

Oh and think I should say that your ride setup sounds pretty special and individual man, which begs the question- what drummers do you draw inspiration from?
Think thats it, but I’m drunk so… :)
Yeah i just this minute saw that article. White cymbals look cool. I guess it must be paint as they look to be a bit tatty in places.
The drummers I love are :
1.Steve White - Who I have seen on a clinic tour - amazing.
2.Danny Carey - Awesome
3.Jimmy Chamberlain - Awesome
4.Lars Ulrich - Original.
5.Dave Grohl - of course !
6.Graham Hopkins, Fyfe Ewing and Neil Cooper…
