I just hate their tone and their look personally. It’s too sweet. bit like prs, TOO nice tonally. i like a guitar to play a bit dirty and react occasionally of it’s own accord.

if you’ve a decent tuner, set it to 4 flats (it has 4 b’s - bbbb) and tune to this - you’ll need very heavy strings

Ernie Ball Slinky 9’s as well here. used ta use d’addario xl 8’s. and yes they are color coded. which is nice when you’ve fucked it up and need ta figure out which is the b and which is the high e and they’re spread outall over the floor. not discernibly different at this guage. problem with string breakage etc. - people often blame the guage when it’s the feckin saddles a lot of the time. or just playin technique. and indeed, i like to bend and shit

Tokai aren’t bad if you can find em. Do nice Les Paul models. I know what you mean about the shape of a strat, they do look like shit imho, but it’s not something you really should be worrying about aesthetically when buying a guitar. it’s what it feels like, how comfortable it is, what sound you want, what you wanna play that dictates it. i hate to say it but strat is best if you don’t know any of the above for it’s all-round capabilities.

gretsch’s are beautiful things. if you can’t afford a gibson, i recommend a gretch. although they can be quite expensive themselves. don’t know much about guild, apart from i think they’re a division of fender.

i had a dream last nite - no, actually it was a nightmare - that i had to play an ibanez on stage with jimmy page in front of 100,000 people. Shit scary. Not the people - the ibanez part.

i choose gibson les paul.

when it comes to fender necks vs gibson necks, it’s all about playing style which you prefer. do you keep your thumb behind or wrap it around (or both which is my technique). do you have big or small fingers? are they fat or thin? only way to discern which you prefer is to play a lot on both. even fender and gibson necks though are different depending on which models you are trying. the profiles differ according to who the guitar was designed for.
