bush as a texas governer who signed over 200 sentances of death, human rights me arse!

for sending people to their death in a sham war, under fake, false and invented reasonings. This surely would at least merit a trial for treason?
also most seriously, an estimated 50,000 civilians unnacounted for after the flattening of afghanistan. the forgotten victims.
and maybe guantanamo bay aswell.

Re: fuck blood and honour in Chit-Chat

I understand your motivations and concerns, but i dont believe in censorship whatsoever. Censorship and control of information and disinformation sometimes is a contributing factor of crazy movements like blood and honour.

still in sentiment i am sickened by swine like that, but i think let them speak their bullshit they will lose every argument in any case, in being banned they have a ‘moral victory’ in their eyes.

‘wastelife’.

2 years back one of the wastelife ‘group’ got beaten up outside ‘abrakababra’ a food poisioning outlet in sligo.
I hope that the person administering the beating likes therapy?!

Re: attention swedes… in Chit-Chat

get in touch with ‘sticky fingers’ rock club in gothenburg.
was there after halloween and it was pretty good all in all.
Course it would have been even better had therapy? not cancelled the gig after i had booked flights to go and see them there…aghhhhhhhh
ask the band ‘Mustasch’ if they will have you as a support!

Re: Saddam Hussein captured! in Chit-Chat

whats the bets that saddam erm…’dies’ before he goes to trial…
Like someone mentioned, too much of a liability with all those friends in the UK and US who happily supplied him with W feckin MD to fight Iran and theri fear of a Islamic idealist middle east.
My guess is they captured a guy in a hole and realised it was saddam just after, if they knew it was him before they would have capped the fecker.

Agreed, i dont see any respite in attacks on the occupying US and UK forces. Bottom line, they shouldnt be there, unless there mandated by the UN and until they get out then they deserve what they get. Professional soldiers arnt brave, they’re just wasting their lifes for some capitalist/facist or some other greed driven moron. (UN peacekeepers being the exeption)

Hopefully, the whole debacle will finish all the dictators Hussein, Bush and Blair toppled and the world will drag itself out of the dark ages.
It should be an interesting ‘moral’ debate if saddam does go to trial and the death penalty is sentanced.

Iraq for the Iraqi’s and no blood for oil.

Re: Where did T? go “wrong”? in General Therapy? Topics

all this talk of sucess, its strange, you have got to look at the type of bands, styles of music and ultimatly the accesibility of the song for the everyday punter.
therapy? in my opinion have achieved remarkable commercial sucess considering their sound and image. left of center rock music just doesnt sell very well normally, with the exception of freak trends and once offs…therapy? arnt easy listening rock music (thanks be to fuck for that), just look at the first single, meat abstract if i’m correct, where did that coem from? brilliant but you cant imagine your ‘average joe’ givin it a second listen, but something was afoot back in the early 90’s and luck has a big part to play with it, right place right time, ‘right drummer!!!’, they got signed and the rest is history.

its that way for so many bands, they hit at just the right time, look at the darkness!?! right time right place,
same with radiohead, manics, and oasis, jesus how bad were they and they sold fuck loads!
another consideration is the european vs US music trends, which is a whole other bag of shite that i wont talk about now.
But when you take a career span into account, there is peaks and troughs, there’s always gonna be the purists who yearn for the early days and the new fans who just get hooked on the latest single, in the end its all good,

therapy? are into their 14th year of their mission, 11 top 40 singles in uk, 4 top 40 albums, countless classic gigs, top of the fucking pops appearances, namechecked/posters in hollywood film/films, how many albums??, a nomination for the mercury prize for troublegum, million pound video for diane/loose, rip roaring albums lately, a bloody best of collection…doesnt how you measure sucess, money, happiness, artistic creativity, acclaim, for me therapy? have managed it all and still come out as being nice people in the end, that does it for me folks. as a musician meself, who honestly struggles to make a living from music, between gigging and teaching guitar i’d kill for a crack at the sucess they have had.
I am amazed when i think of Thin Lizzy, my other favorite band, that i consider vastly underrated historically, had a 13 year career, 13 albums, loads of hit singles etc…
well therapy? have surpased the duration, being together nearly 14 years, and are doin pretty well in the singles and album comparisons. ultimatly for Phil Lynott sucess and his not coping with it cost him his life, so here’s hoping that t? grow old, bitter and twisted living off their hedonisitic youth.

Re: Where did T? go “wrong”? in General Therapy? Topics

i dont think anyone has mentioned this yet..

therapy? arnt exactly “sexually attractive”,(well not very) as individuals.
and its a shame but thats what sells, sex and machoism for the boys and slutty and leggy for the girls.

if i’m remembering correctly someone in A+M said the following of andy,
“he’s not goodlooking, they will never make it”

imho, therapy? are a huge sucess, how a band can stay together as long as they have, and still be fresh and sell out concerts, make albums, influence other bands, survive record various companies, and still have a fantastic future in prospect is totally amazing and a credit to them as people.
These others you think are making millions, well they are but for someone else. Its a big charade, all these popstar cribs you see, are owned by the companies, these pop shits have a shelf life and it ends very quickly for them.

Another band still doin what they want and for the last 25 years and regularly take shit from the press and cunts, are stiff little fingers, true punk if you ask me, doin exactly what they want and still writing new music all these years on.

Besides, album sales make money just for the companies, and singles actually lose money. The money for the band is in gigs and merchandise, complete respect to t?, true twisted punk metal, doin their own thing when and where they want.

T? fans remind me in some bizarre way of man’o’war fans, fiercely loyal but in t?’s case have a brain.

Re: what up in Chit-Chat

I ran out in front of Bush’s limousine at hillsborough a couple months back, i was one of about 10 people that managed to snuuck in thru security to protest at the bastard. unfortunatly the limo was arriving to pick him up, so it was empty, but still i gave the car the fingers and shouted some expletives at it anyhow…before being ‘escorted from the area’. got on tv though…

if someone had a model airplane with a hand grenade attached to it then maybe his visit might be worthwhile…;)

Re: alternative to marshall amps? in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

saw the amp i want, well 2 of them.

line 6 hd 147 with the 4x12 cab, a monster but really expensive, cheaper alternative is the h&k warp 7 head and cab, very nu-metalish but unbelievable bottom end.

Re: Censorship vs. Moderation in Your Feedback & Suggestions

I was ‘contacted’ after the graham saga unfolded by someone in t? circles.
not gonna say who or what it was about, but it was a little curious at the time. Overall it was no big deal,(well not to me anyway!), just something that happened and planted a few question marks in my mind.

Re: Graham, Neil or Fyfe? in General Therapy? Topics

graham is a cousin of ronan keating!
There exists a classic photo of therapy? and boyzone sitting around together backstage or at some awards, the look on the therapy? guys faces is priceless! Just too good for words, if looks could kill, the photographer would be a corpse, boyzone on the other hand are all quite chuffed looking, with the tough guys giving them some street cred!

I think the photo was in a hotpress magazine year book from about 5 years ago? must see if i can dig it up.

andy cairns solo album? in General Therapy? Topics

Title: andy cairns solo album?

The solo album has kinda gone out of style recently…its now more about side projects and stuff like that..

But does anyone think we will ever see an Andy Cairns solo album? (ala captain beefheart without his magic band) I mean Therapy? cant last forever, but music is what they individually do, its not like they are gonna retire and go into real estate or back to the tyre factory…
so what do yiz rekon?

also a good one is to imagine what alternative jobs the members of t? could do?
Mike as a sheep farmer? or andy as a writer of erotic fiction? Martin working as a cleaner in a sex kino?

Re: Censorship vs. Moderation in Your Feedback & Suggestions

we have a saying round these parts,

‘everything in moderation,…including moderation’.

As regards the impression i have that comments seen as negative to therapy? are censored for negative reasons,
I feel its a subtle ‘emotional’ thing rather than an administrative policy, and so i give you the benefit of the doubt. I have no problem with members disagreeing with any analysis, good or bad , indeed its totally nessasary, but i really dislike seeing posts ‘deleted’.
thats just me, right or wrong.

Would i be wrong in suggesting that the action of deleting the relevant post was your frustration of seeing this topic arise again?, or the fact that you simply decided it was off topic and as you would with any topic, you applied the guidelines without bias?

Like i said earlier, the message board is a great achivement, any band/organisation would be proud to have a forum like it, but one last question, do the band members or managment ever ask to have ‘sensitive information’ kept out of the public domain or hushed up?
I ask this because of a communication i recieved after I informed the message board that graham had quit therapy?.

Lastly in my arnie reference, I had the characters of the terminator or predator more in mind rather than the man himself. (kinda like me imagining you saying, “hasta la vista post!” and then zapping it). Wry humour was intended, not insults.

Re: T?-Lyrics - with political background known? in General Therapy? Topics

its common place here to hear the statment, “he kicks with the other foot”, in relation to someone being from the ‘other side’ or other religion.

I always thought ‘animal bones’ was politically influenced.
Church of noise was meant to be a big political song, but i read that it got watered down a bit. Still has refernces to the marching season.
1690 12th july, is the date of the battle of the boyne, dutch protestant william of orange,(king billy) defeats catholic james, and ensures protestant english domination of ireland for next couple of centuries. Still commerated with orange marchs every july. ‘corourful’ affairs these marches, hence the vicious vulgar colours lyric.

I love the line in god kicks, ‘all the memories i have are decked out in presbeterian grey’ very evokative indeed.

‘Dont expect roses’ is also a take on ‘new’labour winning the uk elections after so long being in opposition, the moral of the story, dont expect everything to improve, very true in the long run, remember when all these other bands jumped on the labour bandwagon (oasis being one) and now they all look stupid.

For a band that say publically that they avoid being a political band, they have quite a collection of politically influenced songs, and all very good ones too, which is so hard to do.
Banana republic by bob geldof is a great political song too….Oopps…off topic…!

Re: Censorship vs. Moderation in Your Feedback & Suggestions

Keeping order is fine, and indeed this message board is one of the finest i’ve come across online.
Teethgrinder I think your making a jump too far to construe that my arnie remarks are a personal attack on you. If i wanted to be personal i would be blunt, but i have no reason to be and i wont. Youre doin a great job.

However i do sometimes feel on this site that its okay to talk about the good things about t? but as soon as any critism starts then its shut up time on this site. As someone who has paid money to see t?, bought albums, singles, merchandise, and booked flights for a gig confirmed on this site and subsequently cancelled, i reserve the right to be critical if i see grounds for it. That includes the T? members, and in relation to the the song again&again/stay happy, i think its valid to point out how Fyfe ‘in my opinion’ sounded better. And also that T? are less of a band without him. I think in this context of the song and conversation about it, it is not off topic or thread.

As for good conversation and threads i am of the opinion that diversity and changing subject matter is neccesary for conversation to retain its vitality and dynamic. Like in real life. Thus i would encourage a little loosing of implmentation of guidelines, it would be boring if all we ever talked about was which T? item is the best? which is your favorite, polls, favorite gigs etc…

If every topic is regimented into its own box, then after a short time there’s nothing left to talk about.

Re: Again and again in General Therapy? Topics

woah…dont mess with the administrator regards threads…!!a bit of arnie there it seems…smells of censorship me thinks..

AAA is a grest tune, particualary fyfes drumming, love the lyrics too. Quite simply better than grahams on this track compared with stay happy. At the time, if released could have made a great punk anthem. The time was ripe for it. It had a real early 70/80ish punk vibe, kinda like alternative ulster or god save the queen.
Also a very apt tune at the moment, ‘dont expect roses’,
the labour party rebels should use that as there theme song.
How true it was in retorspect.

Re: arnie’s, ahem, “victory”… in Chit-Chat

to put it blunt..

he’s a fuckin moron. and calafornia derserves our contempt for putting him in power. i visited 22 US states last year and calafornia seemed the most liberal and informed in a univeral sense, we even considered moving there.
But what is going on!?
It seems the more information people have on their doorstep, the more stupid they become. I love america and its people but i hate the political system and its media, and i wish the american people would stand up for themselves and demand a legitimate and impartial media, its a complete circus at the moment. cop the fuck on!

i’m reminded of disgracelands…and ont in our name.

its sick but sometimes when i hear of US and UK casualties in Iraq i’m happy (in a perverse way), its like serves you right, unjustified and illegal war and now your havin your shit. 10,000 innocent iraqi civilians dead and 10 times that injured, this was not the way to go about things.

Re: funeral songs in Chit-Chat

i’d make them listen to all of “trout mask replica”
by captain beefheart. See how long they would mourn over me…by the end of it the would be queing up to light the cremator.

Deep sleep- therapy? would also be a favorite…

or ace of spades just for badness.

the day louis walsh dies, i’m gonna have a carnival.

Re: Damien Rice in Other Bands & Artists

yep david grey(quite an apt surname) and damien rice are worlds apart. but in terms of “this is shite and it makes me want to kill myself” type thang, they are about equal.

What is it in Ireland at the moment, david kitt, damien rice, mundy, kieran goss, paddy casey…aghhhhh,
all tedious excuses for entertainers.

the only singer songwriter in Ireland that i know of, that is worth his salt is Damien Dempsey. But most people dont like him, just shows that taste is a personal thing.
Come to think of it, Graham hopkins new band are more of that boring dirge…
Middle of the road shite that doesnt challenge at all.

Re: Guest appearances in General Therapy? Topics

Andy stars in the video of Rehab by manchild.
He’s face down on a hospital trolley in a straight jacket.
Being wheeled around, pretty cool video actually.

Michael and Andy played at the 10th anniverery gig for philip lynott, they joind the remaining members of Thin Lizzy for a rockin rendition of Bad Reputation where Andy introduces the song as being about Michael. Andy sings on this. Henry rollins did a verison of “are you ready” at the same gig.
His annoucment was pure Rollins…
“the next time you see me…’long pause’…I’m gonna fuck you up like a car crash”

I’m not sure if andy ever did alternative ulster with jake burns of stiff little fingers, but i live in hope.

Also would love to see Alec empire and Andy do a wee number.

Re: Black berries in Chit-Chat

I went ahead and added them to a gallon of poitin (irish moonshine) I’ll leave them in it for a month, and hopefully when i strain all the liquid, i should have blackberry schnapps. Should be stronger than vodka, about 50% vol probably, but the blackberries should make it palatable.

If it doesnt kill me, it will make me stronger.
