Re: t? on british forces radio? gimme back my brain… in General Therapy? Topics
thread unnecassary.???! a bit like invading iraq fro WMD…y’all watching the superbowl, you cryin tears of patriotism for your interval act show of allied unity.
bottom line is, u live once. why obey orders? i just dont see why? if u believe wrong its wrong, just say no. suffer the consequences and get on with it. look at israeli pilots who refuse to fly bombing missions on palestine because of the casualties, they are in jail right now. they are real hero’s, just as some of the uk forces who said no!
It is entirely incompatible to disagree with the the conflict and support the participants who are engaged in that conflict. if u want to support them, demand them home.
and again where do you draw the line…were the SS just doing their job? obeying orders? (oh but in britain our boys could never be capable of brutality…bbbbbuuuuuuuuuullshit!) where ever Britain invades suffering follows. people accept responsibility for your actions and lives, it will be over before we know it and we cant change anything afterward.
last point, the company i worked for sold elearning to us force personnel. i resigned. do u want to be a pawn or a human, u only live once.

‘pawns’ ? that i believe is a cop out. and its the same cop out that has kept the vicious circle turning for years…recruit the poor, give them a uniform, tell them its for queen and country and away you go, do ur duty. Ur right, they haven’t an agenda (poor sods) and that is very unfortunate for the people they invade and end up killing.
In the west we place a greater value on the life of our own boys than the lives they take, even when those lives are civillian and when the cause is totally corrupt.
When if ever will people take account of their own actions? You know what, its very liberating.
at which point is the line drawn.
A . Support the troops no matter what?
B. Support the troops even though we know the cause is unjust?
C. Support the troops in conflicts that are justified? ( an the argument can be made for afghanistan, i do conceed , but alot of history and politics has to be looked at here)
D. never support troops? (ie. pacafism?)
and about a million other derivations…but u cant go to war without an army! its hasnt been unknown for thousands of soldiers on mass to say no.
From the ruling classes, way too much fake sincerity and emotion from fake people. the years go by, the wars go by…and by the looks of it, we have another great big one brewing

it is the very worst thing to ignore and not dicuss. On this day above all! its vital that the madness of these war is discussed. Its not politics its humanity, cause and effect!
i’m not preaching hate. just personal self determination and respect

doesn’t matter where ur from…and what a pointless death…one of over 500,000 (thats including iraqis as much as the bbc and US tv etc likes to ignore them…should you not be angry? Fuck yes u should but with who? did someone put a gun to his head and demand he go there?? for the people that live there they didnt have a choice. They suffered the equivilent of 125 9/11’s
and i’d have this discussion in front of the world, dont give a shit bout online, paint it in whatever patriotic, flag wavingcolours u want. The losers are the civilians, and u’ll never hear they’re stories or have rememberance days for them.
Listen if therapy? want to play for the troops and by extension they’re actions and the actions of the UK US government, that’s ultimately their business ( and i count do a session for the radio station in question as playing for them). My interest is do i ever buy anything in future by the band. and by therapy? providing a message forum i reserve my right to make it know that i was surprised by their decision. Let them go at it, for those of you that agree, whoopie. I don’t, this is a message board, its not unknown on the internet for ppl to express views that sometimes causes disagreements. so yeah FUCK…??

record companies for the most part don’t kill people…don’t hate soldiers…wish they would not obey orders that they know in their hearts are foolish…and if i’m foolish…yeah i’m gonna keep on going for it…(oh didnt u say for me to keep it in my head??????)
deadset…simplified…thats exactly what they have been peddling to the likes of you for ever…and you’ve bought it. so common u accused me of being an armchair activist, u going to the recruitment office tomorrow??

even if i hated soliders i still wouldnt hold it against the band, i believe in the freedom to think do and say whatever you want, if you dont like it fine, dont like it, but dont kick off at the band.
actually i just contradacted myself, go nuts, kick off at whatever, your entitled to your free speech, and i think if you wanna keep going on looking (in my opinion) foolish then go for it.

think about this one…
i’m a believer or fundamentalist that truly believes its the right thing to do to plant ied’s and ‘kill the infidel’ etc etc
or
i’m professional soldier who doesnt really care about the wrongs or rights, but fights whoever i’m asked to fight because its my job and i’m being paid…
which is wrong???
Both and its only media conditioning that allows us believe, ‘our boys are doing their best’, and ‘them other fella’s are savages’. (and yes the taliban are savages as are the british troops who forced iraqi men to jump to their deaths from a bridge in basra )
people very quickly in this world need to take responsibilities for their actions, Bush and Blair didn’t lead the charge over the top, so this ‘the troops are only pawns’ business doesn’t wash. The ‘volunteer’ is the murderer and the employee is the hero!??! Its all bloody murder.
You only get one life, make your own mind up and don’t end up in the murder machine, think of ww1 and the millions who went over the top because of two fucking uncles who had a spat and wanted to sort it out on the world stage, (and before u start getting into ww1 history, i know a bit about it…it was a pointless bloodbath)
Judge me and my posts by your own standards, but as u can probably guess i feel a tad strongly bout this, if i served in 2003 I would have put a bullet in Blair before i would have gone to Iraq. Maximum respect to the troops who objected and in many cases suffered with court martial and dishonorable discharge. That’s real bravery, but you don’t hear much about them do you?????

to quote stiff little fingers…” sod their fucking armies, killing isn’t my idea of fun” - wasted life
what do u rekon? would dead kennedys go on AFN? would the dixie chicks do it? lol nah…it crosses a line with me. With the rest of you, fine if your comfortable with it, but i’m not and having listened to therapy? since 1992 and having purchased everything since then, i think its ok for me to speak my mind, so ‘gimme back my brainsaw’, no i won’t keep it in my head. I like my bands and music free of the taint of imperialist aggression.
to deadsetgav - Taking it out on soldiers???Oh i’m sorry it was the ‘other’ british army that invaded iraq!?!… maybe i’m unaware of some magic that occurs when a person joins the army, that they lose their ability to tell wrong from right. Nearly the whole world knew the Iraq invasionwas wrong! If i served, I would refuse orders, and i’d sit in a prison before i’d go over to spill blood for oil. And if enough troops did, then there’s no war.
And as for being an asshole, i’d rather be an asshole than be of your mind set.
Sure maybe if times get bad, T? can fly out and play a few concerts for the boys…? would you all be fine

back ronald. i havnt heard the interview, so i could be off track. But i dont respect ‘artists’ that go on tours for troops, go on radio stations for troops etc, especially when those troops do the bidding of governments that are imperialist and war mongers. over 500,000 civilians dead in iraq. a mess created by the US and the UK. Its amazing how people can pass such a situation off as ‘well i dont agree but i still support the troops’!?? support your troops and demand them home if u really care. and as for the soldiers, just doing their job…well i wouldnt and a few have had the balls and heart to say no. what was the song…’not in any name’…hmmm?? but like i said i havnt heard the interview so i hope i’m wrong

if you listen to blue cheer from the late 60’s, maybes its just me but i can hear a bit of all that happened much later. ok its the birth of metal etc…
eventually we are gonna just be going over old ground. not that i mind too much, i kinda like where i am lol! but can any of you imagine another 50 years of rocknroll? will we end up like buck rodgers with weird spaced out freaky syncopated jams…hahah

i know what you mean, but even the mad crazy imaginary genres like country/deth/world/trance genres, in some ways have all been done.
maye i’m kinda asking in some ways is rock’n’roll eventually gonna hit a wall. after all we only have 12 notes to play with.

What more can be invented? Every genre i can think of has been done. I listen to 60’s right thru to today. Cant last forever.

Isnt it a nice position to be in, having made albums like all those mentioned. Fuck, so many bands just have one sound, we are lucky to have a band of our own like therapy? who give us food for thought every fucking time! Its such a rush waiting on a new T? album, will i like it? will it be better than? will it have good singing on it?lol!!!! Therapy? since 1993 when i first saw you and your still there for me. i love you.

bush as a texas governer who signed over 200 sentances of death, human rights me arse!
for sending people to their death in a sham war, under fake, false and invented reasonings. This surely would at least merit a trial for treason?
also most seriously, an estimated 50,000 civilians unnacounted for after the flattening of afghanistan. the forgotten victims.

I understand your motivations and concerns, but i dont believe in censorship whatsoever. Censorship and control of information and disinformation sometimes is a contributing factor of crazy movements like blood and honour.
still in sentiment i am sickened by swine like that, but i think let them speak their bullshit they will lose every argument in any case, in being banned they have a ‘moral victory’ in their eyes.

ask the band ‘Mustasch’ if they will have you as a support!

Re: Saddam Hussein captured! in Chit-Chat
whats the bets that saddam erm…’dies’ before he goes to trial…
Like someone mentioned, too much of a liability with all those friends in the UK and US who happily supplied him with W feckin MD to fight Iran and theri fear of a Islamic idealist middle east.
My guess is they captured a guy in a hole and realised it was saddam just after, if they knew it was him before they would have capped the fecker.
Agreed, i dont see any respite in attacks on the occupying US and UK forces. Bottom line, they shouldnt be there, unless there mandated by the UN and until they get out then they deserve what they get. Professional soldiers arnt brave, they’re just wasting their lifes for some capitalist/facist or some other greed driven moron. (UN peacekeepers being the exeption)
Hopefully, the whole debacle will finish all the dictators Hussein, Bush and Blair toppled and the world will drag itself out of the dark ages.
It should be an interesting ‘moral’ debate if saddam does go to trial and the death penalty is sentanced.
Iraq for the Iraqi’s and no blood for oil.

my wife saw boy band engineer ‘louie walsh’ last year on grafton street,
she walked beside him, shouted from the top her lungs that he was a prick, bastard, cunt and other assorted nice things. he put his ugly head down and run off, !! had i been there i would have smacked the fucker in the bridge of the nose, pacifism be fucked, send the fool back to mayo where he belongs.

Re: Where did T? go “wrong”? in General Therapy? Topics
all this talk of sucess, its strange, you have got to look at the type of bands, styles of music and ultimatly the accesibility of the song for the everyday punter.
therapy? in my opinion have achieved remarkable commercial sucess considering their sound and image. left of center rock music just doesnt sell very well normally, with the exception of freak trends and once offs…therapy? arnt easy listening rock music (thanks be to fuck for that), just look at the first single, meat abstract if i’m correct, where did that coem from? brilliant but you cant imagine your ‘average joe’ givin it a second listen, but something was afoot back in the early 90’s and luck has a big part to play with it, right place right time, ‘right drummer!!!’, they got signed and the rest is history.
its that way for so many bands, they hit at just the right time, look at the darkness!?! right time right place,
same with radiohead, manics, and oasis, jesus how bad were they and they sold fuck loads!
another consideration is the european vs US music trends, which is a whole other bag of shite that i wont talk about now.
But when you take a career span into account, there is peaks and troughs, there’s always gonna be the purists who yearn for the early days and the new fans who just get hooked on the latest single, in the end its all good,
therapy? are into their 14th year of their mission, 11 top 40 singles in uk, 4 top 40 albums, countless classic gigs, top of the fucking pops appearances, namechecked/posters in hollywood film/films, how many albums??, a nomination for the mercury prize for troublegum, million pound video for diane/loose, rip roaring albums lately, a bloody best of collection…doesnt how you measure sucess, money, happiness, artistic creativity, acclaim, for me therapy? have managed it all and still come out as being nice people in the end, that does it for me folks. as a musician meself, who honestly struggles to make a living from music, between gigging and teaching guitar i’d kill for a crack at the sucess they have had.
I am amazed when i think of Thin Lizzy, my other favorite band, that i consider vastly underrated historically, had a 13 year career, 13 albums, loads of hit singles etc…
well therapy? have surpased the duration, being together nearly 14 years, and are doin pretty well in the singles and album comparisons. ultimatly for Phil Lynott sucess and his not coping with it cost him his life, so here’s hoping that t? grow old, bitter and twisted living off their hedonisitic youth.

Re: Where did T? go “wrong”? in General Therapy? Topics
i dont think anyone has mentioned this yet..
therapy? arnt exactly “sexually attractive”,(well not very) as individuals.
and its a shame but thats what sells, sex and machoism for the boys and slutty and leggy for the girls.
if i’m remembering correctly someone in A+M said the following of andy,
“he’s not goodlooking, they will never make it”
imho, therapy? are a huge sucess, how a band can stay together as long as they have, and still be fresh and sell out concerts, make albums, influence other bands, survive record various companies, and still have a fantastic future in prospect is totally amazing and a credit to them as people.
These others you think are making millions, well they are but for someone else. Its a big charade, all these popstar cribs you see, are owned by the companies, these pop shits have a shelf life and it ends very quickly for them.
Another band still doin what they want and for the last 25 years and regularly take shit from the press and cunts, are stiff little fingers, true punk if you ask me, doin exactly what they want and still writing new music all these years on.
Besides, album sales make money just for the companies, and singles actually lose money. The money for the band is in gigs and merchandise, complete respect to t?, true twisted punk metal, doin their own thing when and where they want.
T? fans remind me in some bizarre way of man’o’war fans, fiercely loyal but in t?’s case have a brain.

Re: what up in Chit-Chat
I ran out in front of Bush’s limousine at hillsborough a couple months back, i was one of about 10 people that managed to snuuck in thru security to protest at the bastard. unfortunatly the limo was arriving to pick him up, so it was empty, but still i gave the car the fingers and shouted some expletives at it anyhow…before being ‘escorted from the area’. got on tv though…
if someone had a model airplane with a hand grenade attached to it then maybe his visit might be worthwhile…;)
