Re: alternative to marshall amps? in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
saw the amp i want, well 2 of them.
line 6 hd 147 with the 4x12 cab, a monster but really expensive, cheaper alternative is the h&k warp 7 head and cab, very nu-metalish but unbelievable bottom end.

alternative to marshall amps? in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
Title: alternative to marshall amps?
Just looking for suggestions regarding amps.
I dont want to get a marshall, i’ve tried quite a few other amps, anyone suggest anything, i play peavey at the moment but would not buy another one (poor build quality). anyone tried HI-WATT? or top end laney amps?
might just end up going for an amp simulator…

Re: Guitar on computer query… in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
no your fine.
just make sure you start with everything down low!
you will need a couple of jacks to conect your guitar lead
to the line in on your soundcard.

Re: What distortion units do have? in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
my set up is a bit simpler these days, less and less fx.
gibson sg junior thru a peavey(which is not very good)
fx - marshall drivemaster (old but hard as nails)
- phaser set on slow, sometimes in studio i use a cheap zoom 505 for odd delay sounds.
also use a dunlop wah wah.
What i love most is my ebow, it is tricky to get the hang of but to simulate cello’s or violins it the dogs bollox.
Combine that with a slide and you have a very cool sound.
I run a lead from fx out on the amp into the PA which
gives a nice grind and loads of low end growl. Thankfully it keeps things defined for tight rythm.
I also a yamaha sbv bass, love the body shape.

Re: Looking for band members for T? tribute in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
i actually played in a therapy? tribute band here in Ireland. we were called ‘acidcum’…well i was young at the time…
It was back in 94/95…did everything from babyteeth to troublegum, went our seperate ways after IL came out, but for a while it was magic. Favorites from the gigs were dancin with manson, prison breaker, accelerator and strangely enough ‘auto surgery’ really rocked!?
Actually had the most fun ever in my life with that band…

Re: Fyfe’s drum sound on Nurse in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
harvey birrell did a great job gettin fyfes drum sound just right. the second snare that really gave therapy? there trademark drum sound has no snare wire and the skin is tightened up to bustin point. the ‘pop’ from the main snare is unreal, so precise, but to get away with that sound your
timing has to be machine like. By the way does anyone else but me hate grahams drum sound? Its flat and non descript on nearly everything recorded with him, with a few notable exceptions.

Re: Guitar on computer query… in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
whoooaaa…
be careful inputing from an amp direct into soundcard…
could very easy fry the card. start with levels way down.
a simple way is to plug into a stomp box or any guitar effects unit and then into line in.
If you plug in raw then it sounds rubbish except if you get
real time guitar fx software. You may get a bit of lag between playing and hearing unless you have alot of ram.
for recording multitracked guitar and anything else onto to pc, Ntrack multitracker software is the best budget way to do so. I’ve just finished an ep using it. Ntrack.com
