@Gav Not my budget, boyfriend has finally decided to join 21st century and asked me to recommend something for him. I think anywhere between £300-600 will be okay. However, we’ve realised where he lives doesn’t have an active landline at all - and my understanding of mobile internet/ dongles is that they’re shit? So possibly not worthwhile anyhow?

I prefer my PC, as it’s all big and the (not so) ‘new’ twitter.com is very easy to navigate. On my phone I’m using Twitter for BlackBerry 1.1 - it keeps telling me to upgrade but the newer version has piss poor reviews so I’m avoiding it. A lot of my iPhone loving friends seem to approve of Tweetdeck :)

Yeah, I’d agree with that pretty much! It’s a shame that they compressed it into only 6 episodes, they could’ve got a longer series out of it but maybe that would have cost too much or summat. Definitely hope they do the next book, and that one’s clearly got to have a sequel so plenty more to go on :D

3. I’m going to be an aunt for the first time in about 6 weeks :D
4. My top three bands are Therapy?, Firewater, Calexico. There, I said it and I’ll never take it back.
5. When I was about 11, Bryan Adams was my favourite musician and I swore to my dad I would never ever ever in a million years love any other music as much as I loved Bryan. He laughed. I was cross.
6. My daughter taught me that the best way to flip a ‘your mum’ slate is to retort with ‘your bum’. Works every time.
7. I have quit three university courses, I suspect getting a degree is not going to happen.
8. I often say my favourite song is Sister by Therapy? but really it’s Poison by Alice Cooper.
9. I was refused entry to a casino last week.
10. I’m in love.

Not sure I can think of ten things, but wanted to huzzah at finding someone else not on facebook. There should be a website for people like us to hang out ;)

Thanks for the advice, An. The boy is 27 so probably old enough! I played New Mario at my brother’s house and I really liked it, except he kept picking me up and chucking me down holes >:-< I will definitely look out for Mario Kart, I have a GameCube somewhere so might even be able to find some controllers and get that version.

Day didn’t start very well - Due to traffic we were really late to train station and in a hurry I accimadentally purchased train tickets to Blackrod instead of Blackpool :-o Luckily the conductor was very understanding (read: took the piss mercilessly) and sorted it out for us. Train was then delayed because another train broke down in front of us so it took aaaaages to get there.

Finally get to Blackpool only to find that most of the beach is inaccessible due to major roadworks :-s

We were in pretty glum spirits by this point but knew that the Pleasure Beach and rollercoasters galore awaited us. First up was Valhalla, possibly the wettest ride I’ve ever been on, and just as we got to the end - we were absolutely drenched - it broke down. We were literally about six feet from the exit i.e. not quite under cover, so it continued to ‘rain’ on us while we waited patiently for them to evacuate all the people at different points inside the ride. Despite the fact there was an obvious and very easy way for us to climb the six feet to the exit we were told that we weren’t allowed to and instead must wait for the electrician to give the all clear to switch the ride back on. After 40 minutes they finally gave up on that idea (not clear if an electrician ever even arrived) but they still wouldn’t let us climb out. Instead, two of them put on waders, climbed in and started pushing the boat backwards, with a view to getting us to the previous emergency exit. It looked like a pretty heavy boat. And it had four people in it. And all the while they’re pushing it backwards, the water level was rising behind it. We were at a standstill until finally man-in-waders #3 jumped in to help.

It took them an hour to get us out, I can’t describe how cold and miserable and Still Fucking Soaked we were. Needless to say, we avoided the River Caves that afternoon.

Aw cheers guys! Up early to go to Blackpool and play on rollercoasters for the day :D
