Re: Is it hard to set up a web site? in Chit-Chat

If you shrink the image it will lose quality and no one will be able to read it, even if they have a means to zoom in. I think Grant’s idea of hotlinking is probably your best bet.

Re: Countdown has no hosts ! in Chit-Chat

I think people just do it for the satisfaction. The grand prize is a set of encyclopedias and a teapot or something.

Re: The message displayed when you change your username in Your Feedback & Suggestions

It matches her picture :)

I’ve emailed Rene regarding the his/her thing btw - sorry it’s something I didn’t pick up on before. I’m sure it’s just an oversight on his part.

Re: Is it hard to set up a web site? in Chit-Chat

You could always make the original scans available to download, I just don’t like big pictures in a browser :)

Re: Is it hard to set up a web site? in Chit-Chat

Fair enough, just sounds chunky - they’re going to have to remain high quality images for people to be able to read them.

Re: Is it hard to set up a web site? in Chit-Chat

You can get scanner software that ‘reads’ text, so you could copy it on to the website instead of having big images. If you have an HP scanner one called Readiris might be on your installation disc (it doesn’t install automatically, it’s in the extras bit).

Re: Countdown has no hosts ! in Chit-Chat

If she was really being paid £1m a year then I’m not surprised they wanted her to take a big pay cut. From what I read, they’ve lost about 4m viewers and are having their budget slashed - as most of the budget was just being spent on paying her and Des.

Re: General Happy Birthday Topic! in Chit-Chat

Tessa, I hope you have laughed as much as my mum tonight - and that you don’t awaken to the terrible back pain that afflicts those so much older than ourselves.

Indeed. Everytime there’s a scary bit in the film, you tear off a strip to add to the effect.

Re: Metallica in Other Bands & Artists

An “I cLubs Metallica to death” one would be lovely. Can it be altered?

Funny now. Not funny in one year, when Rene’s seen this and believes him.

Re: Metallica in Other Bands & Artists

Much as I thought I would never say this, can you stick to talking about Met - no, I can’t do it. That band that this thread is about. *covers ears*

Re: Panasonic dmr-ex95v is a wocking pile of cank. (safe for work :)) in Chit-Chat

Indeed Cuch, I eventually found a man who was able to fix it for me :) It was the most ridiculous thing in the world. When I use it to do any other copying (DVD to DVD etc), the TV has to be on the VCR channel but when you use a camcorder the TV has to be on ‘scart’ and you can’t access that via the control panel on the TV, only by using the remote control. Idiots.

I’m not writing this to be interesting, it’s just so that when I have another spaz attack when I have the same task next year, I’ll know where I have left some useful instructions.

The WoM… a last resort. Have any of you had the misfortune to encounter this pile of *%&$ %$^&*&* $££^& *&%^$£$^ *^%££ ??

If so, were you able to comprehend how on earth to get it to copy from a camcorder to DVD? It seems to have all the right sockets, and we were reliably infomed that it has the capability. And no, the manual is no help whatsoever. It was written by aliens.
