Re: the worst day of your life in Chit-Chat

I did nothing but get drunk when I was 14. I’m yet to blow up a car though, I’ll put it on my list.

Re: sonic youth & nofx in Other Bands & Artists

Sonic Youth were/are a very good band…are they still going? I loved their cover of Superstar by The Carpenters. I’ve never been a big fan of NOFX, the singer’s voice really bugs me. I do like Liza & Louise though, if only for sentimental reasons.

Re: the *post pictures of beautiful people* thread in Chit-Chat

Unfortunately it didn’t attach to the message like it was supposed to. Ah well, it will still come in handy for personal use ;)

Title: New collage!

Joy of joys…I have no life and thus had plenty of time to make my tasty bloke collage again :)

Re: the worst day of your life in Chit-Chat

Title: I hate trains

Being stuck in Manchester Station all night after a Marilyn Manson concert cause we missed the last train home was harsh. Doubly so as I was wearing a full wedding gown and trimmings etc - I think everyone thought I’d been dumped at the altar.

Being blamed by all my friends who ended up stranded at my house for the weekend because of a train strike. This cost me a fortune in food and drink provisions.

Sitting on the train going to Reading Festival and my friend getting way too drunk and describing, very loudly and in graphic detail, exactly what went on in the bedroom with her boyfriend to pretty much the whole carriage.

Trains officially suck but I can think of worse days - too depressing to share though ;)

Re: the *post pictures of beautiful people* thread in Chit-Chat

Evidently I’m missing something…where is this mystical images button of which you speak?

I made a beautiful collage of fit blokes to post yesterday but my computer died and I had to restore factory settings :(

Re: meat abstract demo in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade

That sounds very rare. Sorry, I don’t know :(

Re: meat abstract demo in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade

Do you mean the 7”?

Your best bet would be ebay (http://www.ebay.co.uk). It goes for quite a lot though, I payed £50 for mine.

Re: Favourite film? in Chit-Chat

I know, I’m a complete wuss.

Aldous Huxley’s essays are pretty interesting, The Doors of Perception I would recommend but if you read anything then read Brave New World. I think that ranks as one of my all time favourite books.

When you decide to adventure out of your coffin then try Robert Rankin, he’s strictly for the sunny people ;)

Re: Favourite film? in Chit-Chat

I read Dracula years ago when I was about 12. It probably gave me nightmares. Did you ever read Polly and the Wolf? I was convinced that Wolf was going to eat me for years.

I loved Trainspotting, the film was lame compared to the book but I haven’t read anything else by Irvine Welsh and I don’t know Charles Bukowski.

My favourite authors are Robert Rankin (makes you cry tears of joy he’s so funny), Aldous Huxley (On drugs but facinating stuff), Simon Green (magical lands of dragons and castles etc) and I just finished reading a book by a guy called Martin Millar called Suzy, Led Zeppelin and Me which was fantastic.

Re: Favourite film? in Chit-Chat

There’s a scene with some skeletons in The Goonies, does that tempt you any?

What’s your favourite book?

Re: Favourite film? in Chit-Chat

So people keep telling me, lol

Do you like anything that isn’t scary or sleep inducing?

Posted on Mon, 24 June 2002 at 02:24

Re: Favourite film? in Chit-Chat

lol, okay, I know I’m going to take a beating for this but I have never managed to sit all the way through that film. I have tried repeatedly and I always fall asleep :(

I’m too scared to watch anything else on your list so I’ll give Withnail & I another shot, promise!

Re: weather in Chit-Chat

Too hot yesterday, too wet today. Us British are never happy are we?

Re: top 10 british bands in Other Bands & Artists

I think The Beekepers, though sadly no longer around, deserve a mention. There’s not that many decent UK bands around at the moment. I will give a shameless plug to http://www.limitedaddiction.da.ru though :)

Re: T?’s Cover Versions in General Therapy? Topics

Title: Covers (merged)

Can we have your best and worst Therapy? cover versions please?

Mine:

Best - Where Eagles Dare
Worst - CC Rider

On another note, have any well known bands done covers of T? songs?

Re: Record Stores in Other Bands & Artists

Heh heh heh. It would indeed :p Do you know any of them personally?

Posted on Fri, 14 June 2002 at 00:03

Re: Record Stores in Other Bands & Artists

I went out with a bloke who worked in a record shop. Is it a rule that they have to be DJs too? One of the other guys who worked there (and was also a DJ ;)) was cool and I would buy albums on his recommendation alone. Very trustworthy.

Re: what other bands/music do you listen to? in Other Bands & Artists

I’ve already posted mine but my sister just told me about a band called Finch and they’re bloody fantastic. The addy is http://www.finchmusic.com and you can listen to the album :)

Re: now playing… in Other Bands & Artists

Farside’s Rigged album. Silver Anniversary is quite possibly the best song they’ve ever written.

Re: Getting into it. in General Therapy? Topics

Yeah, I only recently got into LOG as I seemed to have missed the whole thing when it was on TV.

I used to work in Crash, many moons ago. Didn’t get chance to go in today though :( I wonder if they’d be interested in setting up an outreach branch for deepest, darkest Yorkshire…

Re: Getting into it. in General Therapy? Topics

You wouldn’t say that if your internet connection was as lame as mine. This is local internet, for local people ;) Besides, I’m a stickler for originals - just trying to upgrade my tape collection to CD.

I approve of all things Pegg-like but Spaced is the best. I love that every time I watch it (which is a lot, I admit) I spot a new joke that I missed the last time. Keeps it fresh.

Re: Getting into it. in General Therapy? Topics

Tom Waits!

“I’d rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy”

Heh heh. Remember in school when you had to write down the “difficult” words in the back of your book? I think I should still do that.

The butterfly thing is from Spaced, pleeeeease tell me you watch Spaced?

Incidently, I am in a foul mood with NIN as there was not a copy of Pretty Hate Machine in all of Leeds today. Hmph.

Re: Getting into it. in General Therapy? Topics

lolol, well done :) Definitely one of the finest programs ever written. We should have a “see how much custard you can hold in your underpants” competition on the board.

Have a look at http://www.richie-and-eddie.co.uk The site’s down for maintanance (<after several attempts, I have given up trying to spell that right!) at the moment but there’s an excellent trailer for it to download and it should be up and running again soon.

Bonus points for knowing what program the butterfly thing is from ;)

Re: Getting into it. in General Therapy? Topics

I first heard them in February 1994. A couple of friends had heard a single on the radio and found out they were playing a gig that week. I had a spare £8 and trusted their judgement so I went along with them. We were on the front row and it was one of the best gigs I’ve ever been to. I announced then and there that they were my favourite band and they have been ever since.

Re: university lifestile in Chit-Chat

I absolutely loved uni too. The student union bar was momentously cheap and I met loads of fantastic friends.

However, despite completing the first semester successfully (1:1, 1:2, 2:2 for my 3 modules) I found the lifestyle too difficult to adapt to and ended up speniding far too much time in said union bar.

Thus, 3 years after leaving I am still paying off £3500 worth of student debts. So, enjoy yourself by all means but make sure you do it on a strict budget!
