Re: Bootleg Artwork in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade
Well, no, but I do have Isolation and a scanner at work (lethal combination). So, if you can wait until next week you’ll get one of the three, mmmkay?

Re: Teethgrinder in Chit-Chat
There are more teethgrinders here than just the administrator. Cool. Or actually not. I don’t grind me teeth while I sleep (or who knows, I haven’t caught myself doing it anyway) but I do that when I’m nervous, which is, needless to say, often. My mom (who is a dentist) said quite a while ago that my teeth look like the teeth of a bulimic since they’re getting smoother on the surface (constant throwing up can cause that).

Re: hole break up in Other Bands & Artists
Alright, keep us posted. If you’re playing anywhere in Helsinki drop me or this message board a line, ok?
I like ‘Violet’ too. That’s the main reason I bought ‘Live Through This’ in the first place. ‘Doll Parts’ is also great, ‘Teenage Whore’ is a classic title and ‘Be a Man’ from ‘Any Given Sunday’ soundtrack rocks. I’ve always preferred Hole to Nirvana, mainly because when I started to listen to music for real, ‘Live Through This’ was just released and Kurt was dead.
Courtney kicks ass. She was great in The People vs. Larry Flynt and Man in the Moon.

Re: hole break up in Other Bands & Artists
Title: Reikä
Fascinating. How long have you been playing? Any demos, etc?
I’ve got mixed feelings about the whole break up thingy. They were great but it was surely time for the band to split up. On one hand it’s sad. Their music evolved a lot. The way from ‘Teenage Whore’ to ‘Heaven Tonight’ was a long and hard one and I would have liked to see the next step. On the other hand, Mrs. Love has been busy elsewhere, so I kind of expected it.

Re: Therapy? Fan Club in General Therapy? Topics
It was fun while it lasted. I joined in ‘97 and then in ‘98 it was all over. Lucky me, eh? I got the watch but then broke it :( but the CD bag is still in good shape.

Re: local H in Other Bands & Artists
I love eBay. $9,701 is a lot of money for one gig. Or I don’t know, maybe that’s because they don’t tour much or are popular or something. Where I live the average price for a popular professional band with technicians is (of course this is just an estimate) something around 5000 euros (guess what that is in US$). Of course some lucky schmuck paid $23,200 just to meet Metallica (though it included accommodation etc., check http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1365706143).

Re: I was wondering about the word” barkeeper” in Other Bands & Artists
I studied German for 4 years a long time ago. It is hard and mechanic and has lots of rules but as my teacher always (and I do mean always) said, “keine Regel ohne Ausnahme.” Can’t think of any examples though.

Re: One big happy family! in Chit-Chat
Interesting. I just checked out the Messages and warnings -section and seems to me that I’ve missed out all the ‘fun’. ;) Dang. Maybe it’s time for someone to create some disturbance in the force so that we don’t get too comfortable. Not me though, I’m a nice guy.

Re: hey hoe in New Members (Introduce Yourself)
Wow. I didn’t know that. The actor’s name I mean. I watch Sg1 but for some reason everything blurs in the introduction right after when the words ‘Richard Dean Anderson’ come out. It’s a religious experience really. Anyway, it’s always great to have more sci-fi (or si-fi or whatever) people here. When the machines take over the world, we will be prepared and those who couldn’t see it coming will turn to us for guidance (and will eventually kick our asses of course).

Re: worst t? lyric in General Therapy? Topics
I recommend playing “Body Bag Girl” after Gary Glitter’s “Rock And Roll Part 2” (or Part 1, depending on your taste). I kind of like it.
I think the worst lyrics are in “Dance” since I think the words just sound bad, like they don’t connect or something artistic like that.

Jesus H. Christ, that cat looked exactly like my mother’s cat, the color, white toes and everything. And yes, my mom’s cat is a lard ass as well, which is what you get when you sleep and eat all day. Which is nice.

Oh shite, I just noticed that this is the 666th thread in the General T?opics. Now is the time to play Pitchshifter’s “Diable (Therapy? remix)”. Repeat after me: Hail Satan!. Of course, the good ol’ Iron Maiden with “The Number of the Beast” will do as well. Hell and fire was spawned to be released.

Re: sonic youth & nofx in Other Bands & Artists
Last night I got home from a rock festival and we listened to some Sonic Youth, I don’t remember the name of the album but it was the first time I’ve heard more than two of their songs and they seemed alright, and if a band sounds alright when you’re listening to them in a car driving from a rock festival after two days of endless music and two nights of virtually no sleep, then it’s not a bad sign.

Re: Article in Cult-magazine in General Therapy? Topics
Yeah, it was alright. Nothing new but nothing too bad as well. No idea why it was published so late though.
Anyway, as I recall Therapy? was mentioned right after the Tavastia show on the same magazine, in the gossip column. That’s right, gossip. This might be an indication of Therapy?’s popularity in Finland. That story was something about them drinking in the feer from Stockholm to Helsinki (or was it vice versa).

Re: Favourite Director…? in Chit-Chat
Stanley Kubrick of course. I do like Paul Verhoeven’s strong visual style, especially on violent sci-fi movies but of course Basic Instinct (and even Showgirls ;) ). David Fincher has made some kick-ass films and of course Quentin Tarantino and Tim Burton. Shit, if this goes on I’ll end up listing all the dircetors that I can remember. But Kubrick’s the one right now.
I don’t know much about Hitchcock’s films, I’ve seen just The Birds and Rear Window, I saw the latter just last weekend and I was surprised how good it was. MTV hasn’t destroyed my taste for older films yet which means that I need to watch more.

Ok, me too.
Batman (the one from 1989)
Fight Club
The Decline of the Western Civilization

Re: Another covers question in General Therapy? Topics
Hmm. Tough question. I’d vote another Joy Division song, Dead Souls, though NIN did that already. One choice could be Video Killed the Radio Star by The Buggles, turned into a real tragedy.

Re: T?’s Cover Versions in General Therapy? Topics
Zen Arcade is excellent. I don’t think I get most of it but that hasn’t stopped me before. All I know is that I know what to do when pink turns to blue.
Anyway, my favourite cover is Isolation too. The original is great but I like Therapy?’s version even better. The worst I’ve heard so far is With Or Without You.

Re: music software in Chit-Chat
Well, they can always call your local police department.
I read a story about a Finnish guy who was apparently one of many people who spread Korn’s Untouchables before its official release on Audiogalaxy or whatever. One day he got a call from his ISP who had received and email from the record company. The company had used the same program to track down users that had their material. The guy’s punishment was that his internet connection was cut off for two weeks. Nothing else. Of course for some people that would mean the end of the world.
In that case he was punished for having just an album, if someone has hundreds of MP3’s the case is naturally different.

Re: Fyfe Ewing in General Therapy? Topics
I see a lot of people who are in a band writing for this topic :)
I too have never had much respect for musicianship. I’ve always thought that drummers are never musicians, they’re just the smelly guys that follow them around. Or maybe it’s just me.
The bands that consist of school mates and play together for decades are usually the best ones. One could say that they grow together with their music and there’s that unity thingy too. Some of the band members turn out to be great musicians, some don’t. Well, who cares if the music rocks, right?

Re: Fyfe Ewing in General Therapy? Topics
Hello to you too. Cheers and welcome.
Anyway, my story is a quite similar to yours since I started playing drums mainly because of Mr. Ewing (and the fact that I suck at playing guitar) and have done so for about more or less seven years. I don’t know anything about drummers being technical or not so I won’t go into that. I just think that they (Mr. Hopkins and Mr. Ewing) both have their own style. Fyfe’s style is more economical, more precise and tighter, Graham is in my opinion a more of a groove-oriented drummer, his style is more loose which allows the songs breathe more. Graham is a rock ‘n roll drummer, Fyfe is a twisted disco drum machine.
I like it when a drummer has his/her own distinctive sound that fits the song. I guess my favourites are, in addition to Mr. Ewing and Mr. Hopkins, the all-powerful Charlie Watts and Grunge Drum God Matt Cameron. Matt Chamberlain is also great and so is the tour drummer of Khaled (I forgot the name, Khaled and his band were in Finland in 2000 (as far as I remember)).

Re: sonic youth & nofx in Other Bands & Artists
I don’t know why but I’ve never been into Sonic Youth. I guess I’ve just never had a decent chance to listen them. I hear Murray Street is good though.
NOFX is another story, (please fasten your seatbelts, we’re cruising down the Memory Lane) they were an essential part of the summer of ‘95 when I was working (sort of, most of the time we avoided work and had an occasional rake throwing contest) as a gardener (or sth). Some about a year older guys used to listen to NOFX whenever possible. Kill All the White Man was a favourite. Ok, I was 16. Nowadays I don’t listen to them that much. They’ve had hilarious album titles, the B-side collection’s title is great.

Re: new album?? in General Therapy? Topics
I like Femtex. Especially the opening line. Has anyone made T-shirts with that slogan? :)
Anyway, I’d like to do some what if -speculation. What if Therapy?’s new drummer is completely different from Graham Hopkins and/or Fyfe Ewing? What if they decide to take their next influences from the Latin America? What if T? goes reggae? They haven’t ahd any soul/r’n’b/hip hop/jazz -influences that much, do they? What if now is the time?
(I just got back from a two week holiday, so my mind’s a bit off)

Re: Hey everyone the russian Therapy website has every t? mp3s in General Therapy? Topics
Nice idea. Thanks a lot the link. And yes, there are a load of good or at least interesting bands (Slayer! Manowar! Napalm Death!)
But my question is that do they make a profit out of it? I’ve heard of a number of services that sell MP3’s (though they’re mostly based on ordering one song at a time) but none of them work because they don’t get much cash out of it.
Still, I’ll have to take back my words for this a bit. Selling MP3’s might not be the stupidest idea ever. This kind of service could work if there wouldn’t be an AudioGalaxy or WinMX or Gnutella or whatever. $10 a month isn’t much if you like music and have bandwidth. This will of course never replace CD’s but could be a good alternative.

Re: Jewel Case or Digi Pak in Chit-Chat
Digipaks look better. LP replica sleeves… well… remind us of the great days of vinyl LP’s. But, in digipaks those little plastic thingies that hold the great piece of music in its place break easily. At least in jewel cases you can change all the fantastic plastic parts. It’s a damn good thing when you’re as clumsy as I am and break those once in a while.

Re: Hey everyone the russian Therapy website has every t? mp3s in General Therapy? Topics
Rockin’ Out with The Man ;)
Hadn’t seen that one before. Well, at least I’d feel uncomfortable paying for MP3’s. If someone has heard of a service that sells them and makes a nice profit, tell me. Or don’t.

Re: wanna put yourself to the test? in Chit-Chat
I’ll probably have the best chance to get Therapy? to my funeral. I took the test and according to it I will die on September 22nd, 2002. Reminds me of Coolio’s “Gangsta’s Paradise”: “I’m 23 now, but will I live to see 24? The way things is goin’ I don’t know.” :o

Re: Soundtrack To Your Funeral in Other Bands & Artists
I’d probably like to start my funeral with a song from a local band from my hometown, “Saattoväki” by Kotiteollisuus. (“Kotiteollisuus” means “home industry” and “saattoväki” means, well, the people that carry the coffin to the grave, if someone knows the English term then cheerio for him/her.) Actually, that band has other suitable songs since most of them are about death and other happy stuff.
On a lighter note, I’d want to priest to include in his/her speech the unforgettable Star Trek -line “he’s dead, Jim”.
