A Christmas Message From Ginger

2011 will be a year I’ll never forget. Beginning the year by enduring a brief dance with budgetary disaster (The Frankenstein Effect, which will hopefully be put straight soon in 2012) the year continued into great disappointment as I left the Michael Monroe band under circumstances beyond my control, and then seemed to hit a wall sometime in July when I seriously considered giving up the idea of making a living from music. It appeared time in my life to get a proper job.

On asking a very successful friend of mine in NYC (name withheld in order to save blushes) to look for employment for me he insisted that whatever I choose to do be sure it is something I would happily do for free. That, he told me, is the only way to truly succeed in anything.

But what on earth would I do for free that would help feed my family?

My cynicism refused to believe that such mystic mumbo jumbo would help a family in the north of England and a musician all but convinced that he had failed.

In fact the only thing I do for free is chat to supporters of my music online in a bid to rid myself of any lingering ‘rock star’ mystique and build a solid community of music lovers.

Lovely as they are, how the bloody hell are THEY going to help?

Cutting to the present day, with the success of the record breaking Pledge campaign and the love caked December tour this seems an appropriate point for me to take back any doubt in the power of a strong and loyal fanbase.

You have changed my predicament and given me hope for the future.

You have improved my life in ways you may never fully comprehend.

It’s funny because I hear that I occasionally do a similar thing for some folk over at Formspring.

On evidence such as this I can only remain completely convinced that we are in this together. To help each other.

Have an amazing Xmas in the knowledge that you’ve all done something amazing this year. You all helped a man when he was down, really down. You turned someone’s life around.

The fact that it was someone you all share a musical fondness for, well, consider this a down payment for quality product, selfless service and a level of gratitude that I hope you are all lucky enough to feel yourselves.

As long as you are there then I’ll be here. And THAT, my good friends, is a deal.

I’ve never been a ‘phone person’ but I recently got the Samsung Galaxy S2 and they’re great phones!

I’ve quite enjoyed it so far, I think some of the reviews of this have been more personal attacks on Gervais rather than critiques. I do think Warren does act a bit too ‘David Brent’ in some parts but on the whole it’s been one of the better UK comedys this year.

Got Away Again and That’s Life were possible tracks for Shaving Peaches, not sure about Glad All Over.

Has anyone heard the Laika Dog albums any good?

I pledged to get this album, I’m looking forward to hearing all the songs and getting a signed copy. I bought the acoustic live album Kiss Alive 2 by Ginger off his site hope it arrives before Christmas!

I’ve watched all the episodes of The Trip now and really enjoyed them. I read for America the series is going to be recut into a film version.

Has anyone else watched the new Mid Morning Matters episodes? I liked the 1st one, 2nd was ok but the 3rd wasn’t very funny.

I read earlier their next album has the working title of ‘70 Songs Of Hatred And Failure’. I don’t think i’ve listened to Postcards… since the day it arrived too dull for my liking but hopefully the next album will be better.

It just seems to be people in ‘Norn Iron’ and Britain that got the pre order early.

I was in my local newsagents yesterday and the album got a very good review in Kerrang 4 K’s and they compared it to other classic live albums.

I only just noticed those on the CD’s, I don’t own any T? vinyl but I think they used to put strange and cryptic phrases on them too.

Haha yeah not a bad idea, I have the day off me and a mate are thinking of having a roadtrip anyway. If my ‘local’ Currys doesn’t haven’t any I think i’ll get the Creative Zen I posted earlier maybe as an early Christmas present to myself in a few weeks time.

My ex gf smoked and tried to give up but her sister and mates smoked too so they were always tempting her. She’d only ever last a few weeks and she’d be back on them. Don’t think I could date a smoker again.

I’m in Norn Iron, I think there’s a Curry’s about 20 miles from where I live. I’ll definately check that out thanks for the tip!

It’s a bit out of my price range because I have car insurance to pay this month but i’m tempted by the option to add another 32GB with a memory card.

I haven’t seen any of the 32 GB Zen MP3 players on sale they must have stopped making them. Do you have to convert .AVI files when you want to play videos on it?

Listening to CD 1 with Sister blasting out from my stereo :D

My copy arrived today but i’m in the office now and I won’t be home until after 5pm to listen to it.

I’m still waiting as well, hopefully it will arrive tomorrow.

I’ve found a 16GB Creative Zen I might go for it’s in my price range , just reading reviews on it now.
