Re: Therapy? should be bigger than Foo Fighters in General Therapy? Topics

Some bands or artists used to piss me off, now I think it’s just a waste of energy. Think of it this way: ‘bands’ like Atomic Kitten don’t make great music, but with the mute option their videos become a whole lot more interesting ;-) But seriously, if you don’t like a video or song, just don’t watch or listen to it. Problem solved.

Re: Therapy? should be bigger than Foo Fighters in General Therapy? Topics

Absolutely nothing wrong with the Foo Fighters! They seem to be really down to earth guys, at least I have seen no signs of rockstar bullshit from Grohl & co. yet. Dave Grohl is a rock hero! I get the impression that some of you dislike/hate artists or bands just because they have commercial success. You can’t blame bands for having success, you can blame them for being total assholes who are in it for the money, that’s a different story. Neither the Foo Fighters nor Therapy? belong to this latter category, they both rock.
There, I rest my case.

Re: The DVD in General Therapy? Topics

In almost every article I read about SP-YF, they talked about ‘commercial suicide’. I kinda agree, it’s by far the least ‘accessible’ album they made imho.

Re: Martin is here in General Therapy? Topics

We’re all eagerly awaiting news from the patient: tell us how you are Martin! A happy New Year to you and the rest of the band as well by the way.

Re: new cd high anxiety in General Therapy? Topics

Best since Semi-Detached if you ask me, but that’s a personal opinion. Most of us, including me, love the album. All in all it’s a sound investment I’d say, you can’t go wrong!

Re: new Therapy? dvd scopophobia in General Therapy? Topics

Yeah, many of us have already noticed it. It sounds a bit ‘clean’, doesn’t it? No audience noise at all, they sound like studio recordings (no live feeling). So it’s not just you, my friend!

Re: iF IT KILLS ME TOPS THE OUTLAW 141! in General Therapy? Topics

Well, congrats lads! This is great! Outlaw 141 is like the end-of-year chart of the best songs according to Kink FM, the only serious alternative radio station in The Netherlands. They also have this weekly chart (Outlaw 41), which was also topped by T? for several weeks. I guess Therapy? gathered most points based on this chart, they were in the chart pretty long and they topped it longer than most others did.

Re: Your Top 3 Albums @ totalrock in General Therapy? Topics

My votes would be:

Therapy? - Troublegum
Feeder - Polythene
Metallica - Ride The Lightning

Get well soon man! Cheers for clarifying the info in the other thread!

(now let’s hope this isn’t some hoax, but I don’t think it is)

I don’t agree, I think IL is pretty hard to get into, it takes quite a few listens, unlike Troublegum and Semi-Detached, for instance. I always think of IL as T?’s way to say ‘fuck you!’ to all people who wanted to tell them what to record and do, for the fact they didn’t I really respect them. Although I think they deserve to be bigger, I actually prefer them to stay the way they are, playing small venues and having our own little group of loyal hardcore fans.

Re: The DVD is great! in General Therapy? Topics

I bought Scopophobia last Saturday. I think it’s a decent DVD, nothing more, nothing less. The gig is a bit ‘standard, isn’t? Very predictable setlist, and a pretty short one. And I also noticed the clean sound in the first couple of songs, it doesn’t sound live at all. The videos, the tour documentary, and the Q&A section are great though, so all in all I think it’s well worth the money.

Re: Worst T? song in General Therapy? Topics

I voted for God Kicks, because Hate, Kill, Destroy is absent, but Body Bag Girl is also quite lame. I used to hate Tramline, now I can actually appreciate it.

Of course T? has some songs that aren’t as good as the rest, but one of the things I like about T? is that the good/bad songs ratio is way better compared to other bands!

Re: Andy’s voice in General Therapy? Topics

Try and sing for one hour and a half seven nights in a row and listen how your voice would sound. Give him a break will you, he’s just a human being you know.

Re: a song about (northern) ireland?!? in General Therapy? Topics

How about Potato Junkie, Bad Mother, Not In Any Name, Church of Noise, etc. etc.? There’s a thread about the meaning of the lyrics of some songs, you can find the songs I just mentioned in that thread as well. It’s somewhere in the General Topics section.

Re: Stickers! in General Therapy? Topics

I couldn’t find the black round sticker with the Gemil in pink on your picture, the one you got for free with Loose I believe. I guess that’s pretty much the most common sticker.

Re: The new single is out… in General Therapy? Topics

That’s not fair!!! They didn’t sell it at the Dutch gigs, so now we won’t be able to get one??

Re: Video capture in General Therapy? Topics

No, you will just save the link to the file, not the actual file itself. In some rare cases you can directly download it, but only if it’s a file like .ra, .asf, or .wmv. You can recognise streaming files, the ones you can’t download by ‘right-clicking’, by extensions such as .ram or .asx.

Re: T?-Lyrics - with political background known? in General Therapy? Topics

God Kicks is also about the Protestant vs Catholic issue I believe. It was something like: the Protestants kick with their left foot, the Catholics with their right, but God doesn’t make a difference between both religions and kicks (judges) with both feet.

Re: T?-Lyrics - with political background known? in General Therapy? Topics

Bad Mother definately is, I once asked Andy about it. He told me the line ‘The vicious vulgar colours clash, like the 12th day of July’ refers to the clash between the Catholics and the Protestants. The vicious colours orange and green symbolise both groups, orange being the colour of the Protestants and green the colour of the Catholics. Apperently July 12 is or was the date of the Orange March.

Re: One Song From Each T? Album in General Therapy? Topics

Nice topic! Here’s my 2 cents:

Babyteeth: Dancin’ with Manson
Pleasure Death: Potato Junkie
Nurse: Nausea
Troublegum: Nowhere
Infernal Love: Misery
Semi-Detached: Straight life
Suicide Pact - You First: Little tongues first
Shameless: Dance
High Anxiety: If it kills me

Re: Again and again in General Therapy? Topics

I think the ‘Some Of The Rest’ bootleg was the last ‘official’ one, that is, factory-made. Apart from this one, almost all ‘official’ bootlegs come from the Troublegum and Infernal Love era I think.

It’s on ‘Ulster Hall Belfast’ from 1995, dunno about any other bootlegs.

Re: DVD delay in General Therapy? Topics

I was wondering the same thing… I don’t think there’s any difference between the UK and European version, that wouldn’t make sense. Release dates also differ for cd releases, so maybe it has something to do with different labels/distributors in the UK and Europe?

And (finally on topic, so don’t shoot me down or I’ll not share my chocolate), will there be a definitive list of Easter eggs on the dvd on the site or will we have to fanny around to find them?

If they do it in the same fashion as with the ‘hidden’ track on HA, it probably will be anounced. If they want the hidden features to have any value at all, they leave it to us to find it. I still think the whole hidden track thing on HA was a joke, it was on the tracklist on amazon.com weeks before it came out, kinda ruins the surprise, doesn’t it? What’s the fun of announcing a secret feature before the release?
