Re: Paradiso - Amsterdam webcast in Therapy? Live
The thing about streaming files like the webcast of Paradiso is that it’s not meant to be saved. Of course there are ways to circumvent that, I managed to save it as an asf file after two days of trying. It would be too difficult to explain how I did it over here. I don’t think my method is the easiest and the best one, cos my PC and internet connection are shite. What I will try now is to make a video cd of it so it can be played on a DVD player (it will probably take 2 cd’s, can’t fit it on one). Quality is not very good though, according to the ‘shit in, shit out’ principle the quality is comparable to the ‘heavy’ version of the webcast as can be found on the Paradiso webcast site.
I will also make an audio recording of the webcast and make cd’s of it (again 2 cd’s), I’ll keep you updated on my progress.

Re: Irish dates???? in Therapy? Live
Rumours are that they will play Ireland after the UK tour, but the dates and venues still have to be confirmed.

Re: Tilburg in Therapy? Live
There was a review about the Tilburg gig in ‘Brabants Dagblad’ (regional newspaper) today, including a huge picture of Andy singing. Translation of the article is as follows:
————————————————————————————-
Therapy? still energetic in the margin
Northern-Irish Therapy? used to be labeled as the heir of U2. Although the quartet, led by singer Andy Cairns, only made their mark in the beginning of the ‘90’s, the sound of both bands is grafted on new wave. But every comparison stops here.
Admitting instantly, Therapy? will never be as big as U2. The band, which exists for fourteen years now, hasn’t shown enough originality for that, instantly adding that this doesn’t matter at all. Therapy? is a solid rockband, as they proved yesterday in 013. The fourpiece rammed effortlessly through an energetic set, which included songs from the ‘hitalbums’ Troublegum and Infernal Love, but also from High Anxiety which was released earlier this year.
Approximately 600 visitors heard that this album’s repertoire at most tends somewhat more towards rock, but that the essence is unaltered. Therapy? still plays songs with recognizable choruses and a clear beginning and end.
It didn’t matter that the band is not as hip as it was in say 1995. Also in the margin, Cairns’ humour is pleasantly relativizing. The band’s effort and love for playing can take the shine out of many a disposable band.
—————————————————————————————
Above the pic of Andy it says: ‘Energetic frontman Therapy?’
I have mixed feelings about this review, but everybody’s entitled to his or her own opinion.

It must have been, they’ll play it at every gig. After all, we voted for it!

Nope, but I’m sure they will play it again in the coming weeks!

Re: Tilburg in Therapy? Live
Indeed another brilliant gig, although the crowd wasn’t as ‘lively’ as during the other gigs, but that’s a structural problem in Tilburg I guess. Really nice to meet some WOMbles again! You guys, enjoy the rest of the tour!

Unless I missed it, they indeed dropped it from the setlist.

Re: Weert in Therapy? Live
Regarding new merch, there’s a couple of new things. First of all, a grey/green hooded sweater ($45 Euros I believe). And a really cool shirt with a pic of Andy ‘in action’ on the front, and the tour schedule on the back. It also says ‘Scopophobia 2003’. And there’s a shirt with a picture of the front of High Anxiety, but I don’t know if this one is new. I also noticed they sell badges and stickers, never saw those at gigs.

Re: I love Utrecht in Therapy? Live
Another brilliant gig! After hearing Dancin’ With Manson twice, I can’t help but thinking this song was meant to be played live! Why haven’t they played this one earlier, it’s such a great song, which sounds even better when played live!
See you guys in Tilburg tomorrow!

Yeah, but I corrected him on that one, reminding him of Bospop! You can’t blame them for forgetting Bospop, they play so many gigs. Besides, Bospop wasn’t that memorable compared to other gigs I’ve seen.

Re: Weert in Therapy? Live
Andy said something about doing a new song or bit every night, but I missed a part of what he said. To summarise the song, Dead Shark was one minute of noise, I didn’t really like it.
As for the gig, it was brilliant!! The first half hour went by a bit ‘peacefully’, without much noise and movement from the crowd, but it was quite impressive to see and hear how the guys managed to turn the crowd into a moving, singing, and noise-making bunch. It was a perfect venue, about 500 or 600 people, (almost) sold out. The guys were in a great mood as well, funniest moment was when Andy totally humiliated the dork (with whom I had an argument as well because of his swinging elbows, should’ve punched his glasses from his nose!) raising a lighter during Diane (the slow version). He was the only one in the crowd doing that, Andy said something like: ‘(laughing)… Look man, I really love you, I mean, you paid for your ticket and all. But you’re the only one raising a lighter, during a song that is about rape!’. Also really cool was when he put the microphone in the crowd several times, I got to sing along with Die Laughing, Potato Junkie, and Trigger Inside, yeehaa!!
Nice to meet some WOMbles again, see you in Utrecht tonight! I’m going by train and will take some mates with me. I just have four words for you: I’M GONNA GET DRUNK!!!

Download no, record probably. I will do my best to record it, but I can’t promise if it will work since my internet connection tends to be rather unstable lately.

Re: How many times have you seen T? live in Therapy? Live
9 gigs in three years time, after this tour it’ll be 12, that’s a nice average of 4 gigs per year.

Re: Tour Poll - Part 2 in Therapy? Live
I’m really happy and pleasantly surprised by the results! Straight Life made it, it’s gonna be soooo damn good to hear this song live!! It doesn’t surprise me that Stop It… was voted #1, it does surprise me that the other Troublegum songs didn’t make the top 4, which is good actually.
My fellow WOMbles, you used your votes wisely!

there are a lot votes for that one … so i hope it will get the top 4
Judging from the votes posted in this thread, Dancin’… does have a lot of votes, but there are way more votes than this thread suggests. As RenĂ© has pointed out earlier, votes in this thread are not representative for the final results. The results of the previous poll were very surprising, so we better brace ourselves for the results of this poll. Hell, in the previous poll, a lot of people voted for Screamager!

Re: Tour Poll - Part 2 in Therapy? Live
So today’s the closing date for entering your choices, in two days the results will be announced. I kinda have this bad feeling that only the Troublegum and Infernal Love songs will be in the top 4. Although I do like these albums, I don’t really feel these songs add something extra to the live shows, I am really hoping for the ‘obscure’ songs they have never or rarely played live. I’m really crossing my fingers for the Babyteeth songs, and most of all for Straight Life!

Re: Amsterdam: Paradiso gig in Therapy? Live
The Tivoli gig in Utrecht would be a good option for you I think. Utrecht is about 30 mins away from Amsterdam if you go by train, and the connection between both cities is very good, trains go all night between Amsterdam and Utrecht.
If you want to order tickets, you can try http://www.ticketservice.nl, but I’m not sure if buying tickets is restricted to Dutchies only. Good luck!

I wasn’t really referring to Finland, more to Denmark and Sweden. Sorry for the confusion!

Re: Strange place in Therapy? Live
Maybe the other venues didn’t ask Therapy? I don’t know the procedure, but I think it’s the venues who ask a band, not the other way around. From what I heard, the Scandinavian tour of last year wasn’t the ‘crowdiest’ tour T? ever played, so maybe there was no interest in Scandinavia, which says more about the musical taste of the average Scandinavian than T?’s (live) qualities as a band I guess ;)

I’m quite shocked there are no Belgian tourdates so far… what the hell… 5 times Holland… I expect at least 5 times Belgium as well now…
I’m not sure, but I think the reason why they tend to play more gigs in Holland than Belgium is that they do more summer festivals in Belgium. So on the whole, I think the number of gigs is about equal. It can’t be because of the Belgian crowds, cos Belgian crowds are mental!
