Re: OCFA what do you think? in General Therapy? Topics
I was a bit disappointed after the first listen. After a few more listens there are some songs that are growing on me, but I find I’m already skipping songs I kinda liked on the first listen because they are getting boring.
Maybe it needs a few years to grow on me, like Semi-Detached did.
Deluded Son, Into The Light, DSA, Heart Beat Hits and Walk Through Darkness are the songs I don’t skip.

Re: Verdict on Never Apologise Never Explain in General Therapy? Topics
I thought it was OK but not great when I got it, and it still hasn’t grown on me much. I think Polar bear is amazing, but overall it’s in the bottom half of the list for me.
Well, we can’t all like the same albums. My favorite stays Semi-Detached.

I can’t really remember my age anymore … 33, I guess. Fan since Screamager on ShortSharpShock.

NANE got a very good review in Humo this week. The only songs they thought were slightly less were Panic and some other that I can’t remember just now.

Okay, I gave detailed instructions at the time of the HA release. Just look in this thread http://www.therapyquestionmark.co.uk/wallofmouths/showthread.php? … eadid=2693
I would have thought that a community leader knows everything that was ever posted :D
I intended this thread mainly for the Dutch speaking crowd in here, but it’s good to see that everyone is doing their best to get T? some attention.
So don’t forget to vote once a week!

I’m not voting, because my favourite (live) line-up is different depending on the song.

Martin, as I said in the other thread, you will be missed.
Thanks for the many years, the great shows, the great albums and thanks for taking time to talk to the fans. You’re part of some of my best memories and that will never change.
Good luck to you in your new projects and keep us informed.
And good luck to Therapy? as well. Keep going guys.

Hi there.
Semi-Detached would be my favorite, but I also like Shameless a lot.
This is on its way to become a Shameless-lovers thread :D

T? reference in Offspring review in General Therapy? Topics
Title: T? reference in Offspring review
In a review of The Offsprings new album Splinter, are reviewer for Humo described a song as ‘starting with a mediocre Therapy?-riff’.
So T? are now used by reviewers as a standard for other bands to live up to. :D
I’m glad they get mentionned, even if it’s in some other band’s review.

Best wishes to all for the new year. May you see lots of T? shows, especially for people in countries that they haven’t visited for some years.

Re: drummers in General Therapy? Topics
I listened to SMFTTYP in the car CD changer today and really noticed the difference in drumming between Fyfe and Graham.
So, I am now studying 3 versions of Teethgrinder:
- the album version (Fyfe)
- the Rock Ternat bootleg (Graham)
- the My Voodoo Doll single (Neil)
I’m not a drummer, so I can’t judge whether it is hard to play. But one thing is clear, Fyfe’s version is the definitive version.
Neil’s version is closer to the original than Graham’s, but it doesn’t quite get there. But it was the first time he played the song. And he isn’t there to just copy the original during live performances.
Graham’s version is just plain wrong in the verses, he totally misses the hi-hat rythm. But he does some interesting stuff in the break (with the “losing his mind” sample).
Graham seems to have more complex, not plain 4/4 rythm patterns. Neil and Fyfe are more straigthforward drummers. But there’s a definite difference between Neil’s style and Fyfe’s style as well. Neil uses his bass drum a lot more to keep the rythm going. Fyfe uses his snare and hi-hat to keep the rythm going. And Fyfe is ‘kid disco’ for a reason. I think Standinline’s choice of examples illustrates these points.
Bottom-line, all 3 versions get me excited and wanting to go see a T? show. I never realised before tonight that they were that different.

Re: Cello/ Violin-man in General Therapy? Topics
A bit more cello wouldn’t hurt, but it’s up to Martin and T? (as always :)).
Reading this thread has put Ten Year Plan in my head. This song really can’t exist without the cello.

Re: Your hopes for 2004! in General Therapy? Topics
A new T? album and a 14-day tour of Belgium, with me on stage to play the guitar on Knives one night. :D
And for the rest, pretty much the same as 2003, which has been a very good year up ‘till now.

Let me make clear that I DO like Joey, I was wondering why no-one mentioned it in their best-of S-D and SL compilation.

motherh666 wrote:
I think Diane was a mistake as a single. We all love it, but most people who do not know T? will go ‘What the fuck is this shit?!’
Well, actually Diane was their biggest ever hit in Belgium, it is the only T? song that’s still in the yearly “best 100 songs of all times” of StuBru (“alternative” radio station). If anyone remembers T?, it’s because of Diane, at least in Belgium.
I think the gap between IL and S-D was fatal, and the fact that while I love S-D now, it was a hard album to get into.
But think about this: if they would have stayed/become huge, they might have split up by now. How many bands do you know that are (or were) popular and keep going after more than 10 years? So I rather have them small but popular enough to do decent tours and making T? music fo many years to come.

Re: Worst T? song in General Therapy? Topics
And what about Joey?
Honestly, I think that if you combine the best of Semi-Detached and Shameless, you end up with a 2-CD set. :)

Of course T? has some songs that aren’t as good as the rest, but one of the things I like about T? is that the good/bad songs ratio is way better compared to other bands!
I tend to like the bad songs and love the good songs. So what I like about T?, is that I even like the “bad” songs.
There are some songs that I skip sometimes, some are even on the poll, but there isn’t a single song that I skip all of the time.

Re: Graham, Neil or Fyfe? in General Therapy? Topics
I’ve seen T? with Keith at least 4 times and I admire him for helping T? out. The last time I saw him, he had to learn the HA songs in 1 week to perform them live for a radio broadcast. You could see panic in his eyes sometimes because he didn’t know where the song was going to.
I don’t think he played that great with T?. I haven’t seen him with his own band. As said already, he was a stand-in drummer and that doesn’t allow him to make much of an impact. You really need to know a song to be able to let yourself go and play it with that little bit of extra.
Coming back to the drummers that were/are members of Therapy?.
I’ve seen them all live at least a couple of times. When Fyfe left and Graham took over, I was very dissapointed at first. I thought it was a very big step backwards for Therapy?. But after a few years, that feeling went away and I really started to appreciate his style.
Then Graham left and Neil took over. Similar feeling that Graham was better for T? untill now. But I know what happened last time, so I’ll give him some time. I think Neil is great on HA and his style is more towards Fyfe’s style. For me, this works better than Graham’s style on some of the songs and worse on others. And I don’t mean that Neil is better on the older songs. My favourite version of Screamager (on bootleg) has Graham drumming.
My conclusion is that there is no “best” drummer for T?. I like all 3 drummers for different reasons. And as T? has such diverse songs, some songs better suit each of their styles than other.
To me, they differ in style more than that they differ in technical drumming skills. (I’m not a drummer myself, BTW)

Re: One Song From Each T? Album in General Therapy? Topics
I’ve put Shameless in my car CD changer again today and as I heard Body Bag Girl, Iwas thinking: “Why do people think it is such a bad song?” It is definitely not my favourite, and I probably wouldn’t put it on a compilation, but it isn’t that bad either. And right now, it’s stuck in my head.
