Re: Sp-yf in General Therapy? Topics

Just looked on his site. Oh dear…

Re: Ixx has been banned, permanently in Site Announcements

Just delete his comments! I wasn’t around the forums the first time he caused trouble, but it only took a couple of days to realise why he went in the first place! I don’t think you need to leave his posts up to confirm why this guy is a complete dick.

It’s a shame that somebody who banged on about respecting opinions so much can’t tolerate, let alone accept, other people’s.

Re: Nickelback in Other Bands & Artists

The music just sounds like a band going through the motions to me. It’s rock by numbers, and it just sounds formulaic.

Still, I finally know that there is at least one guy who likes them!

Re: All Therapy? Music in General Therapy? Topics

“I remember years ago you could get t-shirts with that font that said “Heavy Fucking Metal” underneath - about ‘94/’95 time. I can’t remember what it’s from, an American motor company or something (probably getting confused and way off - anybody?)”

Do you mean the logo or the ” Heavy Fuckin’ Metal” tag line? The logo is based on Marshall amplifiers’ logo.

Re: they could have been big in General Therapy? Topics

Ah, just wanted to make sure before my reply…

“you do know that this is a discussion board about therapy?”

Well…erm, yes. Hence the fact my post was about Therapy?

“by giving a thumbs down, i gave my opinion. did that thought ever go through to your head?”

No, because you didn’t put your point across.

“i just disagreed with some things he said, that’s all so i gave him a thumbs down.”

Fair enough, I can accept that, as has already been stated, it’s all about opinions and nobody agrees on everything all the time, if ever..but rather than just giving a thumbs down I’m more interested in reading what points you disagreed with, the thumbs down gesture and the comment about this being a Therapy? discussion board just come across as being a bit arrogant ( from my point of view ).

Ixx, who was the “you do know that this is a discussion board about therapy?” aimed at? I’m pressuming it’s me, or did I read your reply out of context?

Re: they could have been big in General Therapy? Topics

Actually, I think you can get a bit too caught up in all this ” not as good as they used to be” type suff. What’s gone has gone, you can never get a particular moment back, you don’t look back at your life and start to act a particular way you used to do you? Well..I know some people who did, and they usually made idiots of themselves, but that’s another story.

If Therapy? tried doing now what they used to do, chances are it wouldn’t sound the same anyway, it’s gone…bye! Out the window etc… and if you don’t really like the new stuff, it’s not as if anybody is twisting your arm to buy it is it?

I’m of the opinion that Troublegum probably did more harm than good, in the long run anyway. All I ever hear is “why can’t they make another Troublegum?”, it’s like a millstone to an extent, everybody was waiting for troublegum 2-and one thing you don’t get from Therapy? is what you expect!

Even the early stuff had a couple of duffers on it ( I was never a big fan of Animal Bones, and shit kicker usually gets skipped on ), I’d still rather take Shameless over the cack that’s currently doing the rounds though ( incidentally, whilst I’m on the subject, and at the risk of sounding sexist-sorry ladies!- I am the only person who thinks that Nickleback is rock for girls? I don’t know a single guy who likes them! )

Anway, I’ll get off my soap box!

Re: worst t? lyric in General Therapy? Topics

The line from stories.. ” I get by on what I have, less than Jesus more than Dad” never really clicked for me, still, it’s a hell of a lot more listenable than ” I’ve got issues and I’m fucked up inside” nu-ass metal crap that’s dominating at the moment!

Regarding the “There is a light at the end of the tunnel” line, I read an interview in the NME when Infernal love came out, apparently it was originally supposed to go “There is no light at the end of the tunnel”, but they thought it was bullshit as their lives had changed for the better, and it would be a lie to record it. The whole point about the depression thing, you go through it and then you come out of it.

Shame about the David Holmes bits though, it really killed the pace of the album for me, I had a friend make a copy of Infernal love where he cut out all the linking parts, in my opinion it sounded a hell of a lot better…

Re: Songs Never Played Live in Therapy? Live

I messed up my last post, Andy played drums on high noon, not Tramline.. and further to an above post, I’m pretty certain “Jam Jar Jail” was played on the SP-YF tour circa 2000 ( Preston Uni )

Re: Songs Never Played Live in Therapy? Live

High noon was definately played in the encore at the Newcastle Riverside in 98, I’m pretty sure Tramline was played too, with Andy on drums! Endless pyschology was played at Manchester Uni last time I saw ‘em, Prison Breaker was played the first time I saw ‘em at Preston Mill back in 93 ( at that time it was possibly my fave T? song which is why I remembered it so well ), along with Loser Cop and Shit Kicker if I remember correctly..I can’t remember with 100% accuracy, but there you have it!

There are loads of bootlegs out there with Gone, and I’ve got a live copy of Vicar in a Tutu lying around somewhere.

Re: Please read. in Chit-Chat

“Yes, I guess I am abusing the internet for my own illegal purposes or whatever. But then again I’m not exactly a paedophile am I?!?! so maybe you should direct your criticisms to a more worthy cause.”

Criticism? Erm, no, I’m pointing out something that could potentially get you into trouble..I’ll spell it out for you once more… YOU posted the number, YOU are technically breaking the law, I didn’t do it to attack you, I was watching out for your back by making a serious point that YOU could be held accountable for.

Don’t pressume I’m attacking you, I’m simply saying that in a moment of anger you could have put yourself in a lot of trouble, if your ex reads these boards at all he could have a legimate complaint. Given the shit he’s put you through so far, the last thing you want is to give him any ammunition to give you more…

See? Some of us guys are nice…!

Re: what other bands/music do you listen to? in Other Bands & Artists

There’s quite a bit of diversity here! I thought I’d throw some of the other stuff I listen to:

Rocket From The Crypt, Cop Shoot Cop ( R.I.P ), Firewater, David Devant and his Spirit Wife, Red Snapper, Ruby, And You will Know Us By The Trail Of The Dead, GWAR, DBX, Gold Blade, Metallica, Bare Naked Ladies, Ash, MegaDeth, Anthrax, Garbage, Bloodhound Gang, De La Soul, Faith No More, The Hives, The Streets, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Aphex Twin ( wasn’t that impressed by the last album though ) Andrew WK, Foo Fighters, Portishead, various scores by Lalo Schiffrin and Ennio Morricone, Death Piggy, Massive Attack, Fun Lovin’ Criminals, SoulWax, Lawnmower Deth, Ministry, Weezer, Beastie Boys..

I could go on, but I won’t!

Oh, and please stop talking about 8 legged freaks..I haven’t seen it yet and I really want to- So no spoilers!

If you want a really cheesy movie, watch Dog Soldiers, it’s brilliant, gory, fun and it doesn’t take itself too seriously!

Title: Don’t sneak in my underpants. You only had to ask.

Actually, there is something you should do Em… edit your original message. Ronald may have simply stated his own views about how you use the internet, but one thing you haven’t taken into account ( and fair enough, nobody ever really thinks rationally when they’re annoyed )is that not only have you posted somebody’s phone number publicly without permission, but you’re also actively encouraging people to phone and abuse the guy ( I hope nobody was silly enough to do that by the way?! ) which can be considered as an unlawful act on two accounts ( Personal data act, nuisance phone calls ). So please edit it! ( Or maybe the moderator can? )

It’s good to see you’ve got your life back on track though, maybe he’s done you some good by default! I don’t know about anybody else, but after a relationship breaks up I always find myself planning out my future, it’s like your mind’s way of dealing with it, of course, you still have the hurt part, but it always fades with time ( what’s my cliche count at now?! ).

Title: I’m a wicked man, I’ll get what I deserve…

I’m not having this!

You make it sound like women never do anything bad! Fair enough, I can get with all that “girlie” stuff, and we all know your farts smell like roses and you shit talc etc.. but to state that just about all men are bastards? Eh?! I lived with a girl for 3 years, and I thought we were pretty much water tight, but she left me for somebody she met on the internet without so much as an explanation ( and with a shit load of debt which wasn’t mine ). I could say from my own experience that it’s easy to be dismissive after somebody does you wrong, fair enough this guys has betrayed you big time, but look on the bright side..he’s gone! Don’t look at it as though it’s the end, if he’s that much of a bastard you’ve got a new begining!

Hell, we all make mistakes, but not all of us have the same attitude towards women y’know! Next time they’re misbehaving, give ‘em all a lovely slap and tell ‘em to get it sorted!

Re: Hello… in New Members (Introduce Yourself)

I got to see C$S twice, it was the support gig to T? that got me into them, and then I saw them at Reading 94 when they opened the main stage on the Sunday and bombed unfortuneately ( and who was it I saw lurking back stage watching them… a certain mr McKeegan no less )if you haven’t discovered this site yet:

http://thepolywog.com/copshootcop/index.htm

Take a look, it’s great!

Oh yeah, and Therapy? were fucking amazing that night as well, I think that was when I realised just how popular they were at that time, 60,000 people or something like that shouting “James Joyce is fucking my sister…” Brilliant!

Title: Maybe some of you may be able to help with this…

I’ve got a load of pictures that I took from the last Therapy? gig at Manchester Uni ( October ) ( were any of you lot there? If so next time they play let me know and we can meet up for a few beers before the gig ), but knowing sod all about computers ( I’m a luddite, I’ve no problems confessing…) I was wondering how do I house them? Or is there anybody here who I can mail ‘em to so they can stick ‘em up? That’s if anybody’s interested of course… I took nearly a full film, and they’re of varying quality, but if anybody is interested I’ll dig them out…

Re: what is the perfect Therapy? song? in General Therapy? Topics

I don’t think I could single out one…it all depends on what mood I’m in, if I’m in a really all out adrenaline mood I’d go for stuff like 10 year plan, Fat Camp, Meat Abstract etc… if I want great poppy tunes then I go for Screamager, Nowhere, Loose etc ( all the obvious ones! ), and then if I’m in a bit of a lull moment I’ll listen to stuff like six mile water, the boy’s asleep or whilst I pursue my way unharmed ( does anybody else think that song has one of the most kick arse drum and bass sections ever commited to a recording? )… unlike a lot of other bands , they can change sound easily and it still remains Therapy? without sounding contrived…that’s what I love so much about this band…I played all the albums to a friend who didn’t know them over a course of a couple of months a while back, her responce was “who is this?” each time I put a different album on, she thought it was all by different bands!

Oh, and her favourite song was Tango Romeo by the way…

Magic!

Re: Hello… in New Members (Introduce Yourself)

Shra, I got into Therapy? when I heard the music, I can’t even remember where it was now…I think it was first when Teethgrinder came out, I remember hearing it and thinking that I should check ‘em out but never really followed up on it until I was being driven to 6th form college one day and heard srceamager on the radio, it was then that I went out bought, well…everything I could get basically!

That would be back in 93, which was also the very first year I saw them live( supported by the excellent and now long since gone cop shoot cop ), since then I’ve seen them 18 times with not a single bad performance seen and one of Fyfe’s destroyed drumsticks to boot!

purple pleasure death? in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade

Title: purple pleasure death?

Back in the mists of time, when I’d just got into Therapy? I used to work in an indie record shop ( like most now sadly long since gone )and was speaking to one of the reps from a distributor ( I think he was a polygram rep at the time ), having just got back from seeing my first Therapy? gig we ended up chatting about their first releases, he said he’d gone off them and kindly sent me his Teeth Grinder 12“‘s, when I thanked him the next time we were talking he said that he also had considered sending me his copy of BabyTeeth on red vinyl, and Pleasure Death on..wait for it…purple vinyl, but didn’t want to part with them as he still listened to them. Now, I’ve kept my eye out for any info on this purple vinyl for ages and ages, but I’ve never found one, or indeed anybody else who has even heard of it?

Any ideas anyone?
