Roky Erickson is back in Other Bands & Artists

Title: Roky Erickson is back

the legendary Roky Erickson has recovered.. it almost brought me to tears when i read that last year. apparently he’s getting better and better by the day.

now it seems he’s ready to tour again, after over 20 years in reclusion, even outside of his native Texas. and what’s even more sensational - he’s coming to Europe to play as well!

if you haven’t already - please check out his “The Evil One” album. it’s music history.

Respect to Fyfe, Graham and Martin, but this is the best T? line up ever. The webgig version of Teethgrinder is awesome: Mr. Neil Cooper, I bow deeply for you! Be asured that I take good care of the drum stick. :D

Sorry to inform you, that without Mr Fyfe Ewing there wouldn’t be any Teethgrinder like we know it. Nobody can touch Fyfe, period, full stop.

Re: Exclusive Therapy? Webgig in General Therapy? Topics

the ones that voted for:

Screamager
Nowhere
Die Laughing

MUST BE SERIOUSLY RETARDED!

those 3 songs have been played at 99% of the gigs for over 10 years.. and they probably will be played over and over again.

Re: OCFA what do you think? in General Therapy? Topics

Altobelli wrote:

My point about OCFA being disappointing is that simply the songs on it are average, very few standout tracks. The fire and rawness of NANE that stirred my soul with songs like ‘Rise Up’ and ‘Panic’in particular just isn’t there. Apart from ‘Lose It All’ there is absolutely nothing on it that does anything for me. I never want to see Therapy? doing a re-hash of Troublegum, one thing I’ve always applauded the band for was their willingness to try different things but sometimes this has been to their downfall. NANE was the return to the band as a three-piece, the way it should’ve always stayed and hence the return to form in my eyes. High Anxiety showed promise but with NANE minus the extra baggage of McCarrick and the inept drumming of Hopkins the band rediscovered a focus I believe was missing since Troblegum. Andy, Michael and Neil (a proper drummer!!!)had something going with NANE but with OCFA I think they may have rushed things a bit. By the way guys and gals, thanks for the welcome, much obliged!

i’ll second that.. NANE was a true return to form.. i was very disappointed with OCFA.

Re: OCFA what do you think? in General Therapy? Topics

i don’t like OCFA at all.

very disappointed. i loved NANE because it was a return to form, so i had high hopes for OCFA.

it’s just so uninspiring, where has the experimental t? gone? almost all of the songs are in the same boring mid-tempo.. i almost fall asleep listening to OCFA. where’s the variation?

with that said, i really like ‘Sprung’, great song, but that’s about it.

for me, OCFA is down there with Shameless.

Re: OCFA reviews please… in General Therapy? Topics

doesn’t sound promising according to that review..

i really liked NANE (best album since SPYF in my opinion) and i’m looking forward to hearing the new one.

but i will do what i always do nowdays.. download before i buy. if it’s good, i’ll definately buy it. if not, i won’t. i have come to the point where i simply can’t affort to by junk (even if it says THERAPY? on the cover :p).

did the same thing with the upcoming Ministry album. downloaded it and listened to it. it was pure shit, so thankfully that saved me $20.

do you guys buy a car without taking it for a test drive?

I like the cover. By this time, we should’ve learned that T? covers had nothing to do with the album titles (except, maybe, SEMI-DETACHED), which is… er… good? I suppose. :) Therefore, I gave it a go and thrown in my last 2c about that issue:

“See you in hell, blind boy!”

i like that cover you did, it’s great.

Re: One Cure Cover in General Therapy? Topics

it’s f**king awful in my opinion. it’s just badly designed.. way too big THERAPY? logo, horrible pic etc etc.. it must have taken about 20 seconds to do that cover.

Re: New Ministry Lineup in Other Bands & Artists

i’m a massive Ministry fan..

don’t know what to think of this “new” Ministry..

i saw them live in 1999 and in 2003 and the 2003 line-up was great.. Al, Louis Svitek, Paul Barker, Rey Washam, Mike Scaccia, Max Brody.. I also got to meet them all . Nowdays everybody but Al and Mike Scaccia are gone.

The last album was a disaster.. don’t think this new one will be any good either, unfortunately.. this anti-Bush theme is getting old.

Re: Infernal Love = best album ever in General Therapy? Topics

i totally agree.. one of the best albums ever made. t?’s best album definately. i love the david holmes effects between the songs too.. it makes it even more special.

about ‘30 seconds’.. wasn’t the lyrics originally like this:

“there is NO light at the end of the tunnel” instead of “there is A light..”?

i remember that i read somewhere that Andy changed the lyrics for some reason.

i really liked RFTC.. got to see them in 1998, absolutely brilliant.

would have LOVED to go to their farewell gig at Halloween.

BTW, Andy wears a RFTC shirt on the photo top left at the back of the Not Lunacy bootleg. :)

Re: T? Scandinavian date in Therapy? Live

Lund was great :) except the incredibly sucky support act.. one of the worst bands i’ve ever seen. nu-metal crap. please, split up.

anyway..

setlist:

meat abstract
turn
gimme back my brain
this ship is sinking
rust
if it kills me
church of noise
he’s not that kind of girl
rock you monkeys
perish the thought
polar bear
stories
potato junkie
isolation / she’s lost control
teethgrinder
neck freak
screamager
die laughing
diane
nowhere
knives

21 songs all and all. incredible performance, i really enjoyed it. they seem to be on good form! i was hoping they would have played some more old suprise songs, but hey it’s nice to see them back in Lund finally, it’s been 10 years since last time.. there were about 300 in the crowd, quite hard to tell. but the crowd was enthusiastic and that what counts :) there was some hardcore t? fans there.. it is quite funny to see 35 year old men in the pit with 15 year olds :p some people never grow up, thankfully.

and BIFFEN was there!

oh and Motörhead rocked on WM21 :D

Re: The Wrestling Thread in Chit-Chat

i love wrestling :) i always have.. been into it since 1993. i’m a fool, i know.

Wrestlemania 21 is over and it was great.. but that annoying whigger Cena took the title fom Bradshaw.. that sucked! i really like Bradshaw, a great entertainer.

and the razor blading thing that’s common these days, very unnecessary.. they don’t have to get all bloody. i mean.. everybody knows it’s fake.

i feared that Undertaker would lose to that idiot Orton, but fortunately that didn’t happen.

it was great to see Roddy Piper too!

roll on Summerslam :)

BTW, what’s your all-time favourite wrestler? I’d say mine is a tie between Razor Ramon, Bastion Booger :p and Goldberg.

Re: Meat Abstract / Merry Fucking Christmas in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade

just a thought, you shouldn’t mention the word ‘bootleg’ in ebay listings.. if you’re unlucky ebay will cancel your auction. they regularly scan auctions for key words. also, some idiot might report you and then they will definately cancel it..

någon annan som ska till Lund eller blir man helt jävla ensam där?

det blir nog inte fullt som 1995 i alla fall..

Re: Paradise Lost - New LP Out Now!!!! in Other Bands & Artists

this album does nothing for me.. i had great expectations, but.. i’m pretty disappointed. it’s just a grey mass. i don’t like the way nick sings nowdays.. it sounds like he need to take a shit real bad :p
