Re: More bass on the next T? album please. in General Therapy? Topics

Title: Michael

Look at andys song stories about innocent x , he said when he was showing the riff to michael he said “its a bit tricky” or something , but michael played it right away- at speed. On some therapy? albums i think the guitar riffs are so heavy the bass is lost especially on High anxiety with the guitars being tuned down and some of the riffs being very heavy, thats why the wonderful bass lines are less noticeable. Same with some songs off troublegum i think the guitar sounds triple tracked so it drowns the bass out.
Still i think innocent x has the best bass line in any song.
Hail to the King!

Re: Vocals in General Therapy? Topics

I love the way Fyfe shouts Motherfucker near the end of meat abstract.
Do you think thats why skinning pit, skyward etc arent played nowadays . I remember andy sayin he didnt feel right singing meat abstract because it would be taking a bit of history away.Fair point i suppose. Shame i’ll probably not see skinning pit being played in the flesh, favourite song and all but i would settle for innocent x - no excuse there vocal-wise!

Re: 30 Seconds in General Therapy? Topics

Title: Infernal love

Just being reminded of all the cool songs on this album, i must re-purchase it tomorrow. A friend borrowed it because he said he liked Diane so much - he listened to it on headphones repeatedly when he went to bed at night! i’m starting to think he must some kind of serial killer.
I think this would be my second favourite album- wonderful mix of styles and songs, i think 30 seconds would be the most lively of the songs , if that makes sense , it has a lot of punky energy to it.Would Be an excellent moshing song.

Re: Just Like To Say That High Anxiety Was The Best in General Therapy? Topics

Title: Albums

I just got high Anxiety last week so i am late starter. i was pleasantly surprised when i first listened because i wasn’t that fussed on the If it kills me single. Love some of the lyrics on these songs especially on Who Knows, hilarious. But i still think my favorite album would be pleasure death , i think part of this is because it was the first album that got me into Therapy? and because Prison breaker is such a gem.
Mad lyrics though, namely on skinning pit and fantasy bag, and that photograph in the inlay? Maybe it would be interesting to see some of andys song stories for this album.

Seen that one before in a catalogue , but you had to order 10 patches at a time or some crap. Maybe give this one a shot.
Cheers

Title: If it kills me

I cant really get into the songs on the , if it kills me single, alright it “rocks” but it just aint my thang. I havent listened to all of high anxiety but im gonna buy it anyway just for the point of it being a T? release.
I suppose to you guys this sounds blasphemic, but my sister doesnt think much of it either and i can assure you we both have impeccable taste!
I dunno, perhaps it will grow on me?

Re: drummers in General Therapy? Topics

I cant say i care much for drumming techniques n’all but i suppose fyfe would be my man because he sang my favourite T? song which is Skinning Pit.
Why not discuss if andy is a better guitarist than Martin for a change? or something

Title: Nurse

I must say i loved the bass on nurse, mainly on Perversionality and Neck freak - and the drums! , i think the bass and drums complimented eachover very well on these tracks. I condsider Neck freak as one T?s epic tracks, the way it builds up is sensational . Does anyone agree?

Title: Kerrang

I must say i do buy this on some instinct i have from buying it for so many years , but for the past few years i usually end up flicking through it then chucking it aside. A five page spread on the “murderdolls”. A pair of wankers!
The only decent music magazine i remember was called select is that still on sale? i remember one issue was all about sex, and they had Michael tied up and gagged in bath with lesley rankin from silverfish “washing” him or something.

Re: a song about (northern) ireland?!? in General Therapy? Topics

Title: No seriously

My last post on the subject was inspired by hearing that students from Queens university where being intimadated from a certain area by loyalist “paramilitaries” - for playing music too loud - that gives you the mentality of these people - i thought the words of Shitkicker would be the sort of things these people say when they made these threats.

Re: a song about (northern) ireland?!? in General Therapy? Topics

Title: Shitkicker

I was just reading the proper lyrics for the first time, and i think this song sums up “the troubles” - the song made me think of these paramilitary “godfathers” (or whatever they call themselves) - i can just imagine someone like that saying i am “the king of this town”.
It would have made sense if the lyrics are related to this as towns like ballyclare and larne where the guys originally came from definately have those “types” - so does everywhere but i suppose it would be worse in a small town cause of the size difference, y’know? It would be more in your face.
But of course the song could be about something completely different

Re: “Metal band” ??? in General Therapy? Topics

I think these descriptive words for musical styles have been taken to ridiculous extemes these days - the worst one ive heard was someone calling himself a “gunk”, he said it was because he dressed as a punk and a goth mixed, hilarious. i have an interview with therapy and andy talks about the music press inventing all these collective terms and he said that T? are just a rock band , which makes sense.

Re: Just 1 song that sums up therapy for you in General Therapy? Topics

if it was “think of the first therapy song that comes into your head” I would probably think of meat abstract or screamager.. For me therapy have too many kick ass songs to choose from. I suppose screamager would be best to sum up the band to someone who hadn’t heard them.

Therapy? in General Therapy? Topics

Title: Therapy?

I got into the band after hearing pleasure death by chance when my brother got the cassette of a friend who was a really into the band (this was in 1992). i must say the songs blew me away, mainly due to fyfes distorded vocals on skinning pit, the pre song dialogue on fantasy bag and the overall feeling of the LP. Also the cover art of the albumn was unlike anything i had heard of to this time, (i was mainly into Nirvana) to this day i regard babyteeth as their most powerful work with obviously pleasure death being just as an experience. I think my love for the band stemmed from the songs sounding unlike anything else i’d heard at the time and having T? having coolest T Shirts i had ever seen (every time my brother saw the band at the Feile festival in tipperary, he brought me home a tshirt, my favourite was a T? shirt that said “Leave me alone “. I think the point of this post is to say that i am confused at how most of the fans regard troublegum as the “best albumn” to be honest the only song i am really into on the albumn is lunacy booth.
To round this post of i would like to state my favourite T? albumns (and i know this has been done hundreds of times before) in order of which i listen to most often :
Babyteeth -
Pleasurer death - (Caucasian pschosis)- best song skinning pit & obviously innocent x)
Nurse - best song (honestly im that drunk i cant remember the name but it says… if i kill myself i’ll stop thinking.. , at the end
Shameless -best song endless pschology
Infernal Love - best song- same problem - the last one on the albumn … there’s one thing that i should remember…
Trouble Gum - best song lunacy booth
Suicide Pact - best song six mile water
Semi detached - Dont really listen to this albumn but black eye purple sky is a great song.
And i havent bought high anxiety because i am STILL blown away by listening to caucasian pschosis and dont feel the need.
Does this make me less of a T? fan?

Re: Wich T? song would you prefer at your wedding? in General Therapy? Topics

Title: marital bliss

In the unlikely event this will happen, i shall insist that Innocent X be played as the “first dance” , or whatever the custom is, so that my sister and myself can go apeshit on the disco floor. Also it has that techno feel to it for the more mainstream guests. And perhaps six mile water as a sentiment to my friends.

Re: T-Shirts / New Merchandise in General Therapy? Topics

Title: T shirts

i am questioning myself if this T shirt was real or not,
One of my brothers friends wore a T shirt with the fantasy bag , your friend.. your teacher etc on the backprint and the front had a red face off “the silence of the lambs” video box… but as this was feckin years ago i am worrying that it isnt true , just like that ghost i saw when i was ten?

Re: Graham, Neil or Fyfe? in General Therapy? Topics

Title: Little drummer boy

I would like to say that the “favourite drummer” obviously refects on what albumn/era of T? you favour, for me my fav albumns are babytheeth and pleasure death followed by infernal love , but on all albums the drums have been excellent to the sound/style that the band have created:
I seen a vid of graham playing in his early days of joining T? and he kicks ass.

You heard the man Tubbs … get undressed

Re: Macabre question in General Therapy? Topics

Title: What a day

For a few years ive had to consider this eventuality and i have thought of Fade To Black by Metallica but there must be a T? song, so i suppose either meat abstract or skyward are my preference or maybe skinning pit because thats the first T? song i was mesmerised by, im sure the relatives or what ever wouldnt understand but its my day.But definately fade to black. I suppose Diane would suite given the orchestral movements or perhaps: mountains of mourne , which is a beautiful song which i have always liked.

Title: our love must die

i was never sure if this is a cover song cause i have it on a bootleg cd with no inlay card ,to me it just doesnt sound like something T? would have written?

the scream that impressed me was the intro to summer of hate.
Or when fyfe shouts motherfucker in meat abstract really kicks ass

most sentimental T? song in General Therapy? Topics

Title: most sentimental T? song

I always wanted to compare what T? songs give a lot of emotional “vibe” to the fans - for myself i have to say Prison Breaker and A Moment of Clarity. I listened to Prison breaker over and over to pick up the lyrics and would say this is my favourite T? song

Re: Weirdest place you’ve found something Therapy? in General Therapy? Topics

Title: soap opera

This must have been when teethgrinder came out on single. It was either brookside or coronation street, (i dont watch such nonsense regularly) because i remember this person had a strong northern accent but anyway- the scene was some guy sitting on a staircase looking stressed and they had the interlude of teethgrinder …loosing his mind he feels it going playing , and he commented on it , something like - i know how that feels; or some bollox.

Re: t-shirt? in General Therapy? Topics

Title: T Shirt

I asked this question a while ago in the “other bands” message board and someone said it was backyard babies t shirt , love one of these myself. I remember some of the cool T? t shirts many years ago, one that i have searched high and low for had the fantasy bag - your friend , your teacher etc on the backprint but thank god i kept my wake up…time to die long sleeve (a treasured posession).
