Re: 6 Nations 2012 in Chit-Chat
Murray is quality and improving with every game. A lot of poor performances last week - Need 3 or 4 new faces for Saturday but that wont happen. Thought D’Arcy and Bowe were particularly poor. Think McFadden would be good at 12

Remember your abs are no different to any other muscle group - they will only grow through a combination of overload and adequate rest

@Deadsetgav Sorry for late reply. The joys of parenthood mean Im rarely able to gget online. I used to lift a good bit but have been slack for the past 12 months or so. Ive a sport science degree and work in the area so Ive seen all the products being pushed and various fads come and go.

Re: Training in Chit-Chat
@Citizen. If you want to lose belly and build muscle then just train hard and forget about the supplements (most people just piss out most creatine they take anyway)
If your leg injury isnt too serious then you need to get squats/deads/lunges into your routine - if not do some leg curls and extensions. You should be lifting for about 45 minutes (including rests) per workout -not including warm up/cool down.
Make sure the weight you’re lifting is bring you to failure by the end of your 3rd set. If it isnt do a 4th set.
Interval training gets great fitness improvements and can be used in conjunction with a resistance programme - I tend to use tabatha protocols after my weights days and have a hard cardio day on non lifting days.
Just remember the supplements are just that - a supplement to a healthy diet. Ensure that you consume a healthy mix of carbs:protien:fat and eat lots of different coloured fruit and veg each day. Supplements are big business but most of it is just clever marketing and wont make much of a difference to your results

Re: Cork gig in Therapy? Live
Good news is that the stage has been raised a bit. Bad news is you’ll still get bummed! Saw ISIS there recently and the sound was really good

Re: Cork gig in Therapy? Live
Wouldn’t read too much into the ticket numbers. I know at least 30 people who have tickets gotten for both nights already

Re: Cork gig in Therapy? Live
Tickets for both shows in the bag. They’re flying out the door apparently. Fair fucks to the dude at Cypress Avenue for getting them back. Great seeing em in such an intimate venue - the last show was class - pity the stage is higher this time!!!

Re: Where to stay in Dublin? in Chit-Chat
my lap top died last night with all my bookmarks and I can’t remember any names. I stayed in a small hotel on grafton st last year. It was grand and not too pricy - can’t remember its name but its just across from the spike. I have to work at 7 am the next morning so I have to drive home again - much better than worrying bout accomodation :(

Re: Training in Chit-Chat
Colin, low weight high reps after your shorther runnign sessions should help you maintain your mass to a degree (some loss is inevitable). Try taking some glutamine also - it helps to slow down the CAtabolic effect on muscles.

Re: Training in Chit-Chat
Lads,
Only take creatine for about 4 weeks at a time and then give a good rest. 3/4 cycles a year of it are more than enough - your kidneys will be in shite in twenty years if you dont. Good quality whey protein with a bit of carbs within twenty mins of your workout will help you bulk up the clean way. EDT is great training if you can give it the commitment. Email me if you wanna copy of a good prog (I’ve got a degree in sports science and 12 years experience -I guarantee results!)

Re: Training in Chit-Chat
Some dodgy stuff after being posted here. Colin you should try Escalating Density Training (ETD). Look it up but get your gym instructors to check your technique. 30 minutes lifting every second day - I put on 15 pounds with it in 6 weeks. You don’t need water to make creatine effective - just to flush it out of your system. Make sure you only take it for 3-4 weeks and then take a significant break from the stuff or you’ll make shit of your kidneys

Happened to a guy here a while back. Was all over the papers.
A dementedly drunk homeless bum happened to be settling in for thenight under a bush in the park.
Decided it was a little too cold, so went over to the poor sap and preceeded to worm himself up. Cock first!!!
Poor fella ended up postponing the wedding until after HIV results are known.
Although the latest news is that the bird dumped him since.
True story!
But stags are mighty, though.
I told all my mates that if they tried anything, I’d end them all.
I can be pretty threatening when I want to be.
It’s all in the eyes…!!!
Cheers Jobrok! I live in Cork though. Heard about the lad who got raped in the peace park - poor fucker - loads of crusties around there.

The Bulgaria game might be a laugh. I think we’ll get beat 3-0 though so might not be in the best mood after it!

Stag ideas in Chit-Chat
Im getting hitched later this year and am struggling for ideas for a good stag. The East Europe thing has been done to death by my gang - anyone got any good ideas? Ireland and the Uk are probably prefered since lads are getting laid off all over the shop but any good suggestions appreciated!

Re: Rugby in Chit-Chat
I was going to go but decided to go for dinner with my folks instead. Defo the right move! Ulster played well and are making good progress - good to see an Irish team on the up. Im still not convinced with Leinster - too flaky - be great if we could get to the semi’s and play them again - some atmosphere at the last one.
