Re: OCFA what do you think? in General Therapy? Topics

Hm, yeah. I’m in the ‘underwhelmed’ camp, but I’m enjoying it nontheless. I suppose my problem with it is there’s no surprise anywhere. More than anything, it sounds like a distillation of all the band’s strengths, which makes it a solid themeatic record, but the only time I thought ‘wow’ on the whole album was at how good Sprung was. It’s just a bunch of decent songs…
Sprung, Dopamine, Unconsoled, Our White noise, Private Nobody = great. Deluded Son is good, and I can’t even remember how the others sound. :/

What about the Intro to OCFA. Is it going to be longer than 1:53?

Ah, but it’s called Outro.
I like that.

Absolutely. What is the Therapy? tune which is precisely average in length?

I asked that already, get your own questions. :p

Number one the day I was born, that.

Good God.

Re: Question! in General Therapy? Topics

To be honest, 30 Seconds’ review was so confusing it just heightened my anticipation for the album, as I have no idea what it’ll sound like now. That and the ‘lots of major chords’ in the closer which, lyrically, looks pretty epic, so yeah. Can’t wait.

Re: Shortest Track in General Therapy? Topics

I want to know who can work out the middle-length track.

Re: Longest Track in General Therapy? Topics

Pursue… is about thirteen minutes long on its own, isn’t it? Easily the longest.
Unless it’s the American pressing of Brainsaw we’re talking of. Doesn’t that go on for several years?

Re: Rain Hits Concrete in General Therapy? Topics

Enjoying the song - certainly not a ‘classic’, but definitely a strong single. Sprung’s even better. I’ve been looking forward to a lot of albums this spring, but OCFA was lower on the list - these two songs have really sparked my interest in the record, though. Can’t wait now.

In other news, this radio show is the first time I’ve heard Flat Beat in years. Good Lord.

Re: Most unusual T?-songs in General Therapy? Topics

Most of my favourite T? moments are the weird ones, I find. The utter noise chaos of Tramline and 30 Seconds; the moodiness of While I Persue My Way Unharmed, Diane and God Kicks; Tango Romeo is indie-pop by anyone’s standards; not unusual by its own right, but Rust always stands out as being far rawer than the rest of High Anxiety.

Re: Picture from the album sessions! in General Therapy? Topics

Where have the diary entries gone?

I really like the quick release schedule thing, though. There are albums I’m looking forward to being released in April which were finished last autumn.

Re: What is the best Therapy record and why… in General Therapy? Topics

Semi-Detached. First I heard, which probably has a lot to do with it. But I like the more varied, three-section structure of the record, and the only track I don’t like is Don’t Expect Roses.

Re: New(er) Therapy? fans… in General Therapy? Topics

I heard the remix of Innocent X on the Orbital/Therapy? Volume EP thingy, thought it was cool and then saw Semi-Detached in the duty-free shop on the ferry on the way back from holiday in 1998… weird story, really.

Re: So, who bought the new collector’s edition of Scopophobia? in General Therapy? Topics

Ah well. It’s not even mentioned on the homepage here, so it’s hardly like the band are supporting the release.

But why Spitfire are doing this is beyond me; Therapy? fans might be loyal but it was never going to get the sales that Troublegum had (I know I’ve said this before, so you’re gonna have to forgive me)so why do it.

More sales in general. Re-release it, more people will notice it and, unfortunately, there are enough hardcore fans for every group to make something like this worthwhile. And before someone says ‘no, it’s not inteded for hardcore fans!’: “COLLECTOR’S edition”? The title says it all.
I’m not going near one.

Re: Most Depressive T? Song…??? in General Therapy? Topics

I always find Long Distance incredibly uplifting… it’s about leaving shit behind and starting again in a positive way, I thought.

What would that “settle”? The only thing your post settles is that your only argument for liking The Bends is it’s popular…

I’ve never quite understood Radiohead; where is the logic in making music that makes your audience want to kill itself?

Because some people have a mentality to hear passion and beauty in music, no matter how ‘depressing’ it may be. I think, for example, Infernal Love is FAR more ‘depressing’ than any Radiohead album. But because it’s got distorted rock guitars on it, it’s got to be good, I suppose?

That’s right. Someone doesn’t agree with you, thus their opinion must be a joke!
I’d love someone to actually point out what it so ‘great’ about The Bends. As I say, I find the melodies tedious and the production really flat and uninteresting.

Re: The A&M Albums in General Therapy? Topics

Semi-Detached. With Infernal Love close behind.

Wow how can you hate The Bends?

One of them most hideously dull albums I’ve ever heard. Really uninspired melodies, flat production, average arrangements. Doesn’t do anything for me.
I don’t think they lost it after OK Computer. I don’t think they “had” it before then to lose. They lost it with the release of Hail To The Thief, which is a hideous mess of a record.

I think we can figure out what way Graham wanted T? to go by listening to Halite’s first album… No offence, but that is totally crap, music that you can hear in elevetors, absolutely no meat’n’bones in it.

I didn’t think it was all that bad, to be honest. That said, I’m not that huge a “rock” fan. I’d love for Therapy? to do an album most similar to Infernal Love next, I suppose… loads of weird bits, slow tracks, electronic sections etc.

Re: Therapy? becoming Radiohead :) in General Therapy? Topics

I love Kid A. Was a big fan of the others for a while (except The Bends, which I’ve always hated). Now I can’t really be bothered with them. But I still love Kid A.

Semi-Detached is my favourite Therapy? album. Shameless comes way down in seventh.
