Re: The IT Crowd in Chit-Chat

Having seen the first five episodes of The IT Crowd so far, I’m enjoying it. It’s not exactly a masterpiece, but it makes a really, really refreshing change from the teams of Green Wing/Nighty Night/Hyperdrive-esque bullshitcoms we’ve had lately, where being dark and edgy is far more important than actually having any jokes.

Episode three was quite poor, the first and fifth were good, and I really, really enjoyed the second and fourth episodes. Fingers crossed for a second series.

Re: Hopes For New Year in Chit-Chat

Some indie label will like one of the demos I send them.
Stay with my girlfriend.
That’s all I’m fussed about at the mo really.

As ‘evil marketed crap’ goes, tATu are one of the better groups.

I wonder if they ever imagined a whole bunch of twenty-somethings running red lights on their way home from work to get to the tv in time to watch two schoolgirls getting jiggy with it?

Oh, I’m sure they’re fully aware what their UK fanbase is like. ;)

Re: Teachers in Chit-Chat

Agreed on those not enjoying the latest batch… they just seem to be trying too hard. The first two, and less so, third were excellent, though.

Re: fox hunting… in Chit-Chat

Look at it anyway you will, the pro hunting people are going out of their way to fight to kill animals. Thus I hate them.

the second series is FAR better! the sketch where he finds his long lost mum… fuck that was weird!

worth buying the dvd for them two alone!

Yeah, there were some great sketches in series 2, but some poor ones as well. It was far less consistent… I enjoy all of series 1, whilst the second one leaves me uninterested in places.

Re: big train in Chit-Chat

I have! I spotted it from the escalator in HMV the other week, literally ran to get it and went straight to the counter. Didn’t even know it’d been released!
Series 1 is still absolute genius, although Series 2 was reasonably patchy, because one of the writers left, and half the people in it are different. Still, two series and a shitload of outtakes definitely worth 25 quid.

Bah. Looks like I was wrong.
I’ll find the site where I read that and shout at them.

Uh? Is the coffee shop not just a set?

I have no idea, to be honest. But either way, they had problems filming there, wherever it is, for whatever reason.
So everybody just randomly migrated to Grease Monkeys.

Re: Neighbours in Chit-Chat

I heard Joe was sacked for having a Cocaine habit.

Apparently they’re not allowed to film in the Coffee Shop any more, which is why they’re always in Grease Monkeys these days.
And Sky did look a lot better with dark hair.

Re: Neighbours in Chit-Chat

Joe Scully hasn’t died, so they have to kind of keep him in, even though the actor got fired. I want to know how they’re going to resolve it in the end. Probably wait a year and hope everyone’s forgotten what he looks like any bring someone else in in his place.
Luckily, Dave is taking his place as the rather silly dad in the series at the moment.
We are lacking in attractive girls at the moment, although I’m quite partial to Sky. Plus, Darren’s in it, so that makes up for a couple of years of no attractive guys at all.

My own one, I think is Cake’s “Fashion Nugget”.

Hahaha. Oh man, that album’s genius. I really, really enjoy it, although I have no idea if I like it. It’s completely stupid. :D

I dunno whether I should say Blur’s Think Tank. I think my hatred for the album is largely to do with how much I loved the band before it.

Humanoid - Global. The Future Sound of London are my favourite band, and this was an album that one of the members recorded in the late 80s. It’s horrible 80s house music with awful rap and soul vocals… I paid £20 for the vinyl, as well, as it’s so rare. Fucking awful CD.

Re: The Two Towers in Chit-Chat

I did have a few problems with the film. I think there was a little too much humour - in places it wasn’t needed. The effects were poor in places (I can’t have been the only person who thought the Ents were made out of plasticene). Oh and some of the script was cliched beyond belief.
Technically, I wasn’t too impressed. But for general enjoyment, it was one of the best films I’ve seen in a long time. And yes, definitely better than the first.

Internet Service Provider (eg Freeserve)

That’s what they’re calling them these days then?

The people looking at the sites are far less to blame than the people putting the sites up, I think.
Paedophilia is just a sexual orientation - you can’t lock someone away for having thoughts about children, it’s in no way their fault.
Of course, actually viewing child pornography is a different matter, and that’s where the problem lies, I believe.
And then that just brings up problems of ‘if the sites didn’t exist, would these people go out and do it themselves?’, and I believe in this case, the sites to be the lesser evil.
Which doesn’t make them any better in themselves.
It’s a subject I’m torn on.
The only practical way to attempt to stop it is the punishment of those viewing it, and yet that seems to be punishing the least ‘guilty’ of everyone involved. (um, except for the children)
I think.
I have a headache.
