Re: The Two Towers in Chit-Chat

I did have a few problems with the film. I think there was a little too much humour - in places it wasn’t needed. The effects were poor in places (I can’t have been the only person who thought the Ents were made out of plasticene). Oh and some of the script was cliched beyond belief.
Technically, I wasn’t too impressed. But for general enjoyment, it was one of the best films I’ve seen in a long time. And yes, definitely better than the first.

Re: Yo. in New Members (Introduce Yourself)

Take My Head is actually my favourite Archive album, although it kind of holds a few memories for me. The second half, especially, is fantastic.

Thanks again everybody. :)

Internet Service Provider (eg Freeserve)

That’s what they’re calling them these days then?

The people looking at the sites are far less to blame than the people putting the sites up, I think.
Paedophilia is just a sexual orientation - you can’t lock someone away for having thoughts about children, it’s in no way their fault.
Of course, actually viewing child pornography is a different matter, and that’s where the problem lies, I believe.
And then that just brings up problems of ‘if the sites didn’t exist, would these people go out and do it themselves?’, and I believe in this case, the sites to be the lesser evil.
Which doesn’t make them any better in themselves.
It’s a subject I’m torn on.
The only practical way to attempt to stop it is the punishment of those viewing it, and yet that seems to be punishing the least ‘guilty’ of everyone involved. (um, except for the children)
I think.
I have a headache.

Re: Yo. in New Members (Introduce Yourself)

I’m mostly into electronic/experimental stuff…which ranges from most types of electronic music through to experimental rock (Radiohead, Spiritualized) and back into more ‘classic’ rock…Pink Floyd, Moody Blues, Beatles, Led Zep, all the cliches.
I’m into a bit of more ‘alternative’ stuff though…Manics, My Vitriol, Blur (later stuff more than earlier), Muse…
I think the only thing I can really say about my taste is it’s decidedly British.

Portishead are great, and it’s wonderful to speak to someone who’s even heard of Archive! I’ve got all three albums…

And my favourite band are the Future Sound Of London. I run the equivalent of Teethgrinder.com for them (I get emails from the guys themselves and allsorts). They’re quite an obsession of mine.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. :)

Yo. in New Members (Introduce Yourself)

Title: Yo.

I probably shan’t fit in too well here, since rock/metal isn’t generally my kind of thing. There are a few such bands I like though, and for some reason or other, I love Therapy? I’m sure it’s the way they’re constantly changing. Probably.
My favourite T? album is either Infernal Love or Semi-Detached (that’s right, not Troublegum!).
I’m also known as Ross, but Isness will do.

Re: My Vitriol in Other Bands & Artists

Y’know, I never really liked Feeder.
But anyways. I saw My Vitriol last year. They played well. The sounded shit. The whole thing was caked in a terrible high pitched feedback.
And hi, I just joined. I probably shan’t fit in here, but hello all the same.
