Re: Glasgowbury confirmed in Therapy? Live
balls. what would the chances be that i would be coming home from Australia for 2 weeks for a wedding only for it to be on the same firggin day? maybe i should buy a ticket for the $50m ozlotto tomorrow…
just on the point though, i would recommend this especially to “mainland” citizens - a greap, CHEAP weekend in a beautiful location although i still think that both pigstock and sunflowerfest are much better (maybe not this year though, although i have heard a rumour…). was at all three last year and will miss them all this year :_(

Re: what was the last gig you went to? in Chit-Chat
yeah, maybe i was being a bit generous about PL being great - i was just pleased to see them as i’ve never had the chance before. the onstage banter was good - i wasn’t expecting that at all. not sure the aussies got the dry northern wit.
strangely enough i’ve only got “One Second” so if anybody has any recommendations as to what to go for next that’d be good

yeah, i was at the perth leg - never seen them before (been a fan since ‘94) and was not in the slight disappointed. the rest of the lineup was largely crap though apart from royksopp and cavalera conspiracy.
soundwave on the other hand was pure class. limp bizkit were awful and bush were pretty disappointing. cherri bomb were the suprise package of the day. machine were head great as were paradise lost - wanted to see them for years and then they were on early and i missed half their set. :(
let live were certainly the most entertaining band (although their “energetics” impinged on the sound quality somewhat) - they made at the drive-in look like oasis! too many good bands to remember - a bit bizarre that they do it in one day and have loads of clashes and very short sets. iended up seeing lots of 10mins here and there - eg coal chamber!!!

Sorry, this always passes through my mind when someone brings up St. Anger… Some okay to good tracks but man, it’s almost impossible to listen to the whole thing.
would have to agree with that, except i always think of “Ooh, what a good boy you are”. in fact i put it on last night and me and my mate were laughing our heads off.
anyway, after listening to ABCOL for around a week now (took a while for the post to arrive), i can say it’s definately a grower BUT i don’t think for me it tops crooked timber. it won’t top infernal love or babyteeth either but i guess it will be a top 5 T? album for me. i also agree it is a package in that the sum of the parts is greater than the individual tracks - i’m not sure that many of the tracks would make it onto a “best of” playlist.
great tracks: LITSOTTT, plague bell, marlow, the buzzing (can’t understand the lack of enthusiasm for this track for some on here), GYDHOMS, ecclesiasties
good tracks: ghost trio
don’t like them: why turbulence?, stark raving sane - for these tracks it’s mostly the lyrics i don’t like (especially why turbulence, with the liver/ex wife bit particularly cheesy in my opinion)
so i guess that also ties in with what others are saying in that i feel the album tails off but finishes strongly.
still, a great album and hey, i might even come round to the tracks i’m less keen on.

Re: “Living In The Shadow…” video coming tomorrow! in General Therapy? Topics
i have just realised the song is called LITSO THE TT and not LITSO A TT …
i understand what joel was saying prior to his last post though - quite often when i have heard new tracks live before i have heard the studio version i am disappointed (with the studio version) and they usually take a while to grow on me. probably something to do with them having less energy or something than when played live. this track on the other hand is the exact opposite - sounds much better to me now that i have heard the real thing (although the poor quality sound on all the live youtube videos probably helped out with this).

Re: “A Brief Crack Of Light” cover, tracklisting and release date revealed! in General Therapy? Topics
well, my favourite T? covers are troublegum and SP:YF so i guess it’s no surprise that i really like this one too.
i was very disappointed with the crooked timber cover initially, although i have to say it grew on me a lot, but if this album is half as good as CT then i can’t wait to hear it! i wouldn’t have chosen LITSOATT as the opener (not that i’ve anything to compare it to), but can’t wait to be proven wrong in feb!!!
slightly off topic maybe, but (today) my list of studio album covers (fav at top) are:
1. Troublegum
2. ABCOL
3. SP:YF
4. NANE
5. High Anxiety
6. OCFA
7. Nurse
8. IL
9. Semi-Detached
10. Babyteeth
11. Crooked Timber
12. Shameless
13. Pleasuredeath
with CP, BIAC, HOTTI, MTACT and WHTTE all being brilliant covers (i would place all of them above OCFA) in my opinion

Re: new album 2011 in General Therapy? Topics
after looking at it for a while it seems to me to be somebody stuck in a lake / very wet quicksand with the real image being the lower one and the reflected image the upper one.
i like it. in fact i have always been a fan of photographic artwork as album covers. to me the best therapy? covers are covers that never were - the BACK covers of babyteeth and pleasuredeath.

Thunderstruck: must have been during the Therapy? Troublegum show at the Mandella Hall
(listed as Friday, Oct 15th 2010 on the tour page (I cannot believe it was over a year ago. Time really does start to speed up as you get older!) Mandela Hall (Special “Troublegum”+more show!) - Belfast, Norn Iron.)
Although I was there and didn’t hear any booing…
CS: not sure if you’ve seen LaFaro, but (dare I say it) they will give both bands a run for their money although I still maintain they were better before Herb left…

didn’t martin temporarily leave the band before he actually left? i remember being at a show in london when andy said “the reason martin’s not playing with us is because the evil priest fucked him in the ear*”

yeah, as far as i remember back the albums have always come out much later than i was hoping, but then you are just that more eager to hear them - a good thing for example with Semi Detached (although that meant i was REALLY disappointed with High Anxiety)

“yeo” is a typical norn iron add on at the end of a sentence, although really it’s more like “YYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!” and may have “yebyeya” added at the end (meaning “yo, you boy you”). it doesn’t mean anything, but just indicates excitement. for example, “Citizen Erased is getting the beers in…yeo”.

i think if you listen to early lyrics, it is quite obvious that he is disillusioned with the whole thing!
have never been to a dublin gig, but have seen them in belfast and various places in england - like has already been mentioned, and going from what andy has said at any gigs i have been at, they are northern irish and that is that.

Re: Therapy? playin Belfast Festival 15th October Mandela Hall in Therapy? Live
shame on me, but i was not actually expecting it to be that good - if you check the sonishphere thread, you can probably see that i wasn’t feeling it too much. am also (shame on me again) not as big a fan of troublegum as i used to be…
…but…
it was ABSOLUTELY CLASS!!!
only caught last song of Axis Of and was slightly concerned (also during *LaFaro’s immense set) at the lack of numbers, but when T? came on the place was packed and from the blacony (yes, again SHAME ON ME!) it looked like the whole of the floor was a moshpit from start to finish. don’t think i have ever seen Babyteeth material get such a good reception. lunacy booth sounded class with cormac from the answer harmonising with andy (yes, it’s true!!!)
ALSO, all the samples were played (by the brian johnston lookalikee, who was loving the dance beats in the like of innocent x, and who also played the guitar on the like of nowhere and stop it you’re killing me) - **ALL of them which as far as i can remember hasn’t happened for about the last 10 years. **for some reason though the teethgrinder ones weren’t - wonder if it’s copyright issues or something?
am so glad i went. *looking forward to the LaFaro gig on 14th November in Auntie Annies now.
think Dermot’s setlist above is right by the way.

agree with that and the few songs after that alan!
also, what about this?:
The head That Tried (combined 5.56)
Polar Bear 3.59
Crooked Timber 7.03
Punishment Kiss 5.00
Trigger Inside 4.18
Class! still have a soft spot for trigger inside - much more than any other troublegum song except probably isolation.

Kinda don’t think just leaving a big space at the end of an album is a terribly good way of hiding tracks - the two hidden tracks on Ash’s 1977 were much better hidden.
Wonder if you could play ‘As I pursue my way unharmed’ live… On that note, I wish they’d play ‘Never Ending’ live too
i’m glad somebody brought this up - i have numerous mp3 players now (due to screen smashes, one for jogging etc) and i tend to leave “sister” and other tracks containing hidden tracks, eg “mx” from deftones “around the fur” and the last track on “nevermind” (or is it “in utero”, or both?!? - now I’M having a crazy horse (steve) moment!!!) off my mp3 players as i can’t be arsed with the big long gap. a real shame as “sister” is my favourite track on this album, with “WIPMWU”
am sure there is some software that you can split the tracks with, so that you end up on your mp3 player with, using SP:YF as an example, a 12 track album with “sister” as track 11 and “WIPMWU” as track 12 and NO BIG GAP BETWEEN THEM!!! - the only downside being i won’t get a turtle head poking out anymore when “WIPMWU” comes on when i am drifting off to sleep after sister. or maybe that’s a good point. anyway, i don’t know what software to use. it would preferably be easy (ie dead simple) and free to use.
any advice?
and on Citizen Erased’s note, is there any way you can mp3 those 2 hidden tracks before “loose control” on ash’s 1977?
cheeers in advance

Re: Therapy? playin Belfast Festival 15th October Mandela Hall in Therapy? Live
from BBC Across The Line ‘site:
Therapy? will play the whole of Troublegum at a special gig at the Mandela Hall as part of the Belfast Festival at Queens! And what’s more, ATL hand-picked the bill, which will see support from LaFaro and Axis Of.
The gig takes place on Friday 15th October in The Mandela Hall and will be introduced by our very own Rigsy.

Re: Oh dear, how to lose / not gain fans in General Therapy? Topics
i agree with babylonrass in that i have seen them way better. looking back on it i think that they rushed through it a bit. not in terms of playing faster, but it did feel rushed with very little banter etc. then again maybe they wanted to do that because i remember andy saying he didn’t want any spaces on the album as he wanted it to feel claustrophobic (which meant it was difficult having the cassette as sometimes you didn’t know exactly when one song stopped and another started!).
it was just a bit weird that it finished and that was that. i had thought they might come out and play teethgrinder or something afterwards, but then again the tent just seemed to empty after it - it seemed like a bit of an anticlimactic end to me.
also, as the first time i saw therapy? skin sang luncacy booth with them, i thought it might happen again seeing as skunk anansie were there on saturday too…

Re: Troublegum at Sonisphere in General Therapy? Topics
well, when they finally got started it was a good show. the tent was the most packed i saw it all weekend and the crowd really dug it. as did i, although i was a bit wrote at the time. my mate, who is also a big therapy? fan wasn’t as impressed though and in retrospect maybe if i hadn’t been drinking all day then i may not have thought it was as great as i did at the time?
don’t get me wrong, i think it was a great idea, was exectued pretty well (technical difficulties aside), was great to see some of the rarer tracks, but some of the troublegum tracks i have seen too many times now perhaps… but maybe i am just paying too much attention to my mates opinion (which was clouded as he is also a big rammestein fan and was pissed at missing the end of them only for T? to end up being pretty late).
my only gripe at the time was that you could barely see neil. he seemed to be drumming in the dark with no lights on him - i usually enjoy seeing him beat the crap out of his kit. oh, and you couln’t see the question mark on the THERAPY? (or THERAPY) backdrop…
sorry to not be very positive. on balance i think it was good, am glad to have been there but it is someway down my list of favourite T? shows (but then again they do set a very very high standard.
feel free to rip my (rambling, incoherent) post to shreds by the way…

good stuff. would go and see them. sixteen stone was pretty good, razorblade suitcase was better in my opinion as i thought there was less filler on it although i thought swallowed was a poor written for radio track.
agree about greedy fly - best song i’ve heard of theirs but having said that never heard the 3rd or 4th albums. my mate had them both and tried to palm them off on me so i always had the impression they were crap and as a result never bothered with them…
