Oh Joy in Other Bands & Artists

Title: Oh Joy

Just watched 24 Hour Party People again…interesting movie. Never cared (or knew) much about The Happy Mondays but found the bits of Joy Dision and the early punk scene quite nifty. Anybody here a Joy Division fan?
And since Joy Dision often gets thrown in with the goth scene, what about Siouxsie Sioux or other ‘darkwave’ bands?

Re: Are there any gay T? fans out there? in General Therapy? Topics

eh, I’m gay. count me in as here, queer, and a T? fan.

And speaking of straight people, dull or otherwise, most of my straight friends found Therapy? completely unapealing. Mostly, they complained of T? songs not following a typical pop/punk/or metal formula, and found the lyrics too disturbing to listen to. On the other hand, T?’s music has been fairly well-received by my gay and bi friends. Thearapy? pushes a lot of boundaries, both musically and lyrically. So gay/bi people, or anyone who doesn’t fit society’s definition of what they “should” be, might be more receptive to music and art that also defies easy definitions. They would be used to confronting imagery and ideas that would be considered disturbing or unacceptable in mainstream culture. So a prevalence of gays/bis in the T? fan community would probably have more to do with T? fans being open-minded and counter-culture than with sexuality. Or maybe I am waaaay overthinking this.
