Re: the wildhearts in Other Bands & Artists

An okay cover, but again: what’s the point? it sounds exactly like the original.

Remember that diary entry by Andy in which he mentioned Brett Anderson and the Elastica singer? in Chit-Chat

Andy wrote something about how he met them at an awards show and that they were only friendly if you had the drugs. Of course, Andy didn’t refer to them by name, but he described them well enough that some WOMbles could figure out who he meant.

Well, anyway, I’m just reading “Kill Your Friends” by John Niven now, which is set in the mid-90’s (which is ace by the way!) and there’s a scene in which the main character walks into a toilet to sniff some cocaine and out come Brett Anderson and the singer of Elastica, who have apparantly just sniffed cocaine themselves.

Now, either those two were an infamous drug couple in those days or Niven (who is friends with James Dean Bradfield who is friends with Andy) based that incident on Andy’s experience.

Do you think that could be possible?

Re: The end for Velvet Revolver in Other Bands & Artists

You know what, they should get Keith Caputo from Life Of Agony on vocals. First off, he’s a great guy. Secondly, he’s ten times the vocalist Weiland is, but at the same time he can sometimes find himself sounding a lot like Weiland.

Check out the song “Troubles Down” from his newest solo album. That’s actually a heavy song—relatively speaking—for his solo stuff, but that could be a Velvet Revolver song. He’d be a good fit for the band, but I don’t know if he’d go for something like that.

That songs does sound a lot like Weiland/Velvet Revolver. Thinking about it, I guess Caputo is a fan. At least he covered “Vaseline” on some of his solo gigs.

Re: the wildhearts in Other Bands & Artists

I rate Ginger’s guitar playing higher than his singing. The harmonies on Wildhearts records often sound a bit off. The guitar playing is ace, though, especially on his solo stuff.

Jesus, their cover of “Carmelita” is worse than I expected…

Did anyone read the article that scrolls by in that window, which features Andy of Therapy? I’d love to know what he wrote or said about The Wildhearts.
