I can’t believe Slash has continued to only say nice things about Axl all those years. Slash is just a cool guy and if Chinese Democracy ever sees the light of day, it will probably bomb, and Axl will have to accept that people don’t want GN’R without Slash (and Duff, for that matter).

Earlier in this thread someone said something like: “DEATH MAGNETIC is okay, but there are so many other contemporary thrash albums out there.”

Just out of interest, which albums are you referring to? (I don’t disagree, I just haven’t got a clue)

Where can I get an mp3 of that? Pearl Jam had it on their website it was (or is) on youtube, but I can’t find a downloadable mp3 anywhere. It’s as if it had just disappeared.

Look entertaining, but Lemmy… oh well. Sure, he’s cool as hell, he’s one tough motherfucker… but still, people overestimate his importance. nobody needs more than one best of-cd by motörhead. that’s good enough for what it is, but if lemmy retired tomorrow, no one would care.

Check out the inofficial “Kids” video on youtube. It’s really cool. and the tune is great, too, of course.

That songs does sound a lot like Weiland/Velvet Revolver. Thinking about it, I guess Caputo is a fan. At least he covered “Vaseline” on some of his solo gigs.

I rate Ginger’s guitar playing higher than his singing. The harmonies on Wildhearts records often sound a bit off. The guitar playing is ace, though, especially on his solo stuff.

Jesus, their cover of “Carmelita” is worse than I expected…

Did anyone read the article that scrolls by in that window, which features Andy of Therapy? I’d love to know what he wrote or said about The Wildhearts.

Out of all his solo albums, this one seems to be the best so far. I think it’s admireable how prolific this guy is still.

Thinking about it, I’d say Ginger’s solo albums are pushing the borders more than anything The Wildhearts have done since “Endless, Nameless”. Unfortunately, neither the solo nor the band records are very consistent anymore. And on top of that the solo albums are flawed by really bad production.

OK, but I don’t get the purpose. They didn’t change a thing and Helmet sound well enough themselves on their recording.

I like Weezer and I’m looking forward to their new album, but this song doesn’t really excite me. It seems as if they were concentrating on all the wrong things again (sounding as modern as possible as opposed to just rocking early 90’s style).

Singles

The Wes Anderson soundtracks are all very good (The Royal Tennenbaums, Darjeeling Limited, The Life Acquatic, Rushmore)

Judgement Night is a nice idea, but hasn’t aged well. Spawn was a bad idea in the first place.

Demon Knight has its moments, as does the Velvet Goldmine soundtrack.

I’m Not There. is much better than that pretentious movie of the same title.

Actually, neither Duff nor Slash have the songwriting talent to ever step out of the shadow of their former band and an unknown singer won’t change that. So, even if it may take another 100 years, they should be waiting for Axl to do something instead of boring us with uninspired cock rocklike they did with Velvet Revolver.

yeah, that’s exactly what I meant. there are rawer punk bands out there and the manics just don’t work as a punk band to me, since they started out as hedonistic gn’r-wannabes and turned into philosophic radiohead-wannabes. that sounds harsh, but i actually prefer them like that. they seem much more comfortable that way.

Cool news, although they’ll hardly be able to better “Waiting Room”.

I’m excited to see that they also do “Carmelita”, easily Warren Zevon’s best song ever. They won’t be able to better that one, either, but it could still be a cool version. Super Furry Animals cover version also sounds interesting.

The Layne book is said to be awful. I’m not sure about this at all.

Wow, it was just a question of time before VR would split up, wasn’t it? I’m actually quite surprised everybody seems to have liked their 1st album by now. It was complete and utter crap. Even the 2nd one was better and that one sucked hard, too!

Anyway, I’m glad to hear STP got back together (for now). So, nobody’s reporting on Army Of Anyone not being together anymore then?

Next: GN’R reunion, album and tour and then Axl’s death can finally end the band as it was always meant to happen.

Just listening to “The Holy Bible” again. I don’t really get why everybody thinks so much of it. It’s not very punk to me, rather polished. And James’ vocals just sound forced and not threatening or raw or whatever.

Don’t get me wrong, I like the album, I just don’t think it’s what the Manics sound best at doing.
